This thread reminds me of another battery thread on the canadian side here, where one member was boasting using normal li-nhim batteries, I told him id never use unportected batteries and hes all like "never had a problem yet" I hope he reads this thread and reconsiders his actions

I either read the same or a similar thread, and that is in fact why I posted this thread/story here .... All I could remember was that some guy posted a story about trying some type of battery with his Mod that several other members had advised was not a good idea to do, and I didn't get the impression that he was heeding the warnings.

So like you, I hope whoever that was, he reads this story pronto!

Well the OP of this story has promised to comeback with further details once he has them ... the problem is that the injured party is in ICU and unable to relay any detailed information that could help in understanding exactly how this happened, or what if any signs/warnings may have been present at the time it happened.

I really do hope that someone is able to accurately determine at some point what happened to cause this terrible accident.
There was a link to a separate thread a few pages back. If I remember right, his breathing tube had been removed and he is now able to speak. Really hope he comes out of it ok, this is such a terrible thing to have happen.

Hi, it's not only the batteries used in Mods that can be dodgy I have found,
When I first started vaping I put an Ego battery on to charge overnight as I often did-next morning I found the battery had vomited all the wires out, and had welded itself to the charger..The whole thing was fused together. Luckily it didnt burn the House down,

I dont know if the charger was faulty or the battery, but I decided best not to leave batteries to charge overnight after that.
The battery was the standard Ego battery, looked normal, but who can tell?

The person relating the explosion story mentioned, "he wasn't using oddball batteries....I have no idea what caused this."

That's the problem. All we really have are assumptions, ie, it's a user error, carelessness... He was using protected batteries, yet it happened. We don't know why. Seems no one is interested in the exact sequence of things the user was in that led to it. We need more details is all I'm saying so we can learn something from it.

Any update on this one yet? Would be nice to see more details regarding these explosion cases. So many unanswered questions. Some members here guess it's about vent holes, some say it's about unprotected batteries. No one knows. In another thread, we read an exploding Ego incident. How can you even know whether the battery of an Ego is protected or not?

We're left with very little details. One question that comes to mind regarding the explosion on people's face is is the explosion preceded by heat? Or it just explodes without warning, with or without heat?

To leave a battery charging overnight, not that I recommend this, it would be safer using a "LiPo Battery Safe Guard bag" which are searchable on eBay and around $5 or less all in with shipping from Hong Kong.

These charging bags are used by various communities that incorporate lithium batteries in their sport/device hardware.
