Ok Ladies, bear with me. I just needed to be able to vent frustrations with those who can understand where I am coming from! LOL.

I've been vaping since June, off analogs in July. This is great, wonderful, etc.. ;) BUT... sheesh! Who said this was CHEAPER?? I have gone through a 901, and 510 before settling on the 801. I've got about 75 carts for this thing, (bought a bag of 50 real cheap awhile back), batteries, attys, polyfil, fluval, ptb, as well as bottles, syringes, tweezers, vg, pg, a couple lorann flavors, etc, etc, etc.

Here's the problem. I'm getting burned out! :( Leaky carts, can't seem to find a flavor I like, can taste, or will last more than a day on the palate. Spend too much time worrrying about charged batteries, filled carts, (dont drip since I have a leak prob!), enough liquid for the next day at work, cleaning attys, trying to make DIY nic with snus (hit n miss), and of course, the constant topping off when I vape!

I dont have any kids left at home, its just me and the dear one, but seems like this is really consuming my time, and money. I lost my job awhile back. Got a new one, that was cut back to part time fairly quickly, so I really don't have the funds be spending on this the way so many seem to. And with work and school, not a lot of time either!

I find myself thinking the analog was LOTS less hassle. Step outside, fire up, smoke it, put it out, DONE! 7 minutes, TOPS! vaping? We won't even go there about how much time THAT takes!

Don't get me wrong. I won't go back. (I hope! FDA, stay away!) But, does anyone else get frustrated or worn out, or just plain TIRED of it all?

Thanks for letting me get this out of my system!
Sue

The money..YES! the playing? No, I kind of enjoy it. Of course after my first diaster with a kr808.. I got a 901, then the nicostick. The Nico takes the same atty as the 901 ,so no problem there. I just do my flavor making once a week, I top up all my fruit bottles. I use my pass thru and Nico at night while I am on rhe computer so I don't need to do batteries but once a day.
But the cost? yes, that's killer..I need more batteries, choc liquid, RY2 and a second passthru for my chair (and to take with me when I drive). It does get pricey, but so do analogs. That would be about $300.00 a month for me, that doesn't count Mike. I guess the only real way to save is to be smoke and vapor free.

I've also noticed that this is a lot more labor-intensive than I anticipated. But, for me, the health pay-off is worth it. I've just traded one habit pattern for another.

Instead of a cigarette first thing in the morning, I load up my cartridge while the coffee is brewing, and put on a fresh battery. Half-way through my hair/make-up routine and on my second coffee cup fill-up, I start to vape in the bathroom. (I never smoked in the house before.)

Before I leave the house and after I've packed my lunch, I load up my "kit". I always have 5-7 batts fully charged. I grab 2 and make sure I also have a spare atty and travel bottles of my favorite liquids. I usually carry about 3 faves. I top off my cart for the 45-minute drive to work and head out. Takes about 5 minutes. Less time than I spent running to the store every week for cigs.

But I hear what you're saying. You just have to re-learn new habits. After all, you probably spent years building up your "smoking" habits. Check that you have enough cigs for the day. Grab an extra pack. Where's my lighter? It does get easier as you develop your own routine. Hang in there! Good luck!

The initial cost and learning curve is and can be quite substantial. But once you find the gear you are comfortable with and get the "hang" of the whole deal it will get better. I know exactly where you are coming from. I just about threw the whole shooting match out several times. I thought the same thing about the cost too. But after you get your supplies accumulated and read enough on this forum you will find ways to save money and pretty soon you will be breaking even and then money ahead. Trust me, it will get better. I hardly spend anything on it at all now and am enjoying watching the $$ I used to blow on analogs finding it's way to my savings account. I'm almost to my 6 months anniversary mark and very proud of myself. Ecigs brought my 36 years of smoking and blowing money to an end. Color me happy!!

I know. Guess it just got to me after squeezing a bunch of cart fillers to save old juice! (Have about 5oz of it now!). I do enjoy experimenting, when I have the flavorings to do it. Just haven't had much money to get more than a couple of bottles, and of course the choices I made left much to be desired! LOL

I've thought about getting a JantyStick v2. I hear it has the low bridge atty. I'm thinking a lot of my leakage problems started when I started using the high bridge. And since the battery is separated from the atty/cart, I'd be less likely to ruin it, as I've done before! :(

Ah well. Once I can actually find a flavor I can actually TASTE, (most are a hint at best), I will be a much happier camper. I know Dawns stuff is good, but havent been able to get much with the finances the way they are.

Its funny. The only true juice I've been able to taste has been my "leftovers" juice! A hodge podge of all the carts, squeezed out, add a bit of pg/vg, and then threw in some pure vanilla flavoring. Still doesnt taste like vanilla, but not a bad vape at all. And, waste not want not! LOL!

Thanks for letting me vent here. I guess it just all got to be too much there for a moment! :)

Rocket, what about a passthru for the drive..you just need a few prefilled (at home) carts for the drive to and back. I don't reccomend dripping and driving.

Don't you worry about the wire/cord getting caught on anything? I've always shied away from that for that very reason. Am I missing something here?

So far it hasn't been a problem. The plus factor is if (ha!.when) I drop it, it's on a tether! I vape right handed, so I can just put it on the passenger seat or in the clean ashtray when not vaping. (like that ever happens). The cord is really long on this manual..that's even better.:p

Surich are you using a sealed manual battery? That's what I want next. I am sick of killing batteries!

I agree the start up cost and learning curb, then figuring out what juice flavor (s)... I was thinking the same thing, that it's more expensive ... I've settled into the 801 with a passthru and I drip.

I have found the 7.00 atties have been as good as my 17.00 ones which was excellent and been purchasing the 5 packs atties when I can.. Doing the pass thru no more worries about the battiers and I love it.. As well as doing away with the carts and just dripping.. So been able to cut my monthly cost quiet a bit..

so am good for just monthly juice for a while.. Hang in there...

I have a heavy corded home made usb for the car, it sometimes gets around the brake handle, but no harm done.

I've very much settled in, and don't spend much time anymore getting my vaping stuff together...once you find models, flavors and methods that work, you don't have to think much about it. Haven't spent any money lately either..there's a couple of flavorings I'd like, maybe next week...I think it's affordable if you don't try a lot of different models...

The only manual I have is the passthru. Use it from my laptop, and the pc at work. Doesn't seem to have as much power as a regular battery does. I plan on getting sealed manuals my next go round, because I hate killing them too!

I also plan to get the TW multi pack of attys. I won't be able to before their special is over, but even then, the multi pack price can't be beat and they have the low bridge atty from my understanding. Hoping that once I get these two items, I can stop sweating so much.

I also have the lingering fear that I won't be able to get spare batts and attys in time before the FDA does their thing. Seems like a given almost at this point so want to try to have my supplies lined up before hand so I can at least have what I need to wean off the whole thing if I have to! :(

OK, I'm a dumass, but I thought pass-throughs were for USB connections at the computer??? You can also use them in the car? Jeez, I'm the dimmest rocket scientist on the planet! And I don't drip anyway, so that's not a problem.

PS - I don't vape at my desk. Being a NASA facility, it's purely non-smoking. Vaping might be technically allowed, but I don't want to press my luck. I have no problem stepping to the ladies' room every couple of hours to vape in the stall. Nobody notices; nobody cares.

You need to be able to hook your passtrhu to a usb outlet in the car. They make a cigarette lighter adapter! I paid too much for mine, but I am sure you can find one cheaper. You can also put a wall outlet adapter anywhere in the house so you can use a passtrhu in your room or kitchen or in your favorite chair. I use an adapter at the computer because I have an old computer and don't want to give it heart failure by adding a passthru to it's workload.
Oh and I meant to say topping up your cart..not dripping!
Let me go find that thread...brb

Wow, I just checked my supplies and found that I have an 801 USB passthrough. Yippee. I can use that in my car and my Janty or 501 at the computers.

I have a power inverter that plugs into the cig lighter plug and has two options- a regular wall plug (great for laptops and and USB port. (I'm always picking up stuff like that for hurricane prep) I'll have to check the power output before using.

Also, FYI, later model cars (foreign made???) often have a USB port in the center console box. Great feature for using a passthrough and/or playing an iPod through the cars speakers. This vaping can become very educational in addition to expensive! LOL

I invested in one of the battery mods and have ordered a second one because I am scared of not having a back-up. Knowing my luck I'd drop it and hubby would run over it with the car or something. It's more money up front, but will end up saving me money in the end. Since e-cig batteries average $13 each and I spent about $130 on my mod, including buying the batteries that fit and a charger for them, it will pay for itself in the amount of time I would go through 10 e-cig batteries. Plus the charge on my batteries lasts for 5-7 hours so I no longer worry about running out of charged batteries if I am out for the entire day. With a good supply of attys and enough unflavored nic juice to mix a years worth of liquid I am way less worried about a ban than I used to be.

Lol YES! I have a life! I got really sick of it all and the time and expense when I was a little way into it. I really thought that it would be simply an exchange of one kind of cigarette for another. That expectation was what led to the frustration.

Its not just a simple switch, but then it wasn't a simple switch when I first got a PC either. I was writing for a living and loved my old yellow legal pads and mechanical pencil. It took a long time for a keyboard and a word program to replace that too. But in the same way as the ecigs, I was soon to discover that there were other advantages to the PC that the legal pad never had!

I decided to figure out what I really wanted from this new experience, and it divided into a few different things. I wanted a good solid no nonsense vape most of the work day, without having to stop and start and that meant a mod. Then I also wanted something that would give me that kick in the mornings and after lunch, and to enjoy a long slow "smoke" when I was relaxing, and I wanted to be able to "smoke" with my friends when I was out without fussing with equipment or standing out too far from the crowd.

After some trial and error I settled on the V1 for most of the time. No nonsense, no fuss no muss a solid 5 hours or more on one battery, and that little thing just sucks every last bit of juice out of a cart before it needs a refill. Nor did it look like I was sucking on a piece of plumbing.

For going out in the evening with friends, I still like a two part PV. Again its easy and looks a lot like a normal cigarette. A couple of spare batteries in a little case and I am set for the longest night out. Its also, for me, the best one for stealth vaping :D

Evenings with a good book or a movie, I still really enjoy my old 801..smooth as silk, and tons of vapor, and if I am doing nothing else I don't mind having to change the battery so often. Carts still last a long time.

I keep a 501 primed with a good cappuccino flavor that I like to hit at least twice a day, usually mornings and after lunch.

I like to change flavors at least a couple of times a day to keep my palette from getting numbed and not tasting them any more. I make my own juice and add flavors a drop or so at a time until I come up with a formula that I can really taste and enjoy, then I keep a batch on hand and write down the proportions just like any recipe so I can repeat it.

Expect it to take some time before you are truly in the swing of it, and be prepared to try some different things. Be patient with yourself, and in time it will settle down to be integrated into your life with little or no more effort than analogues, and a whole lot less expensive.

What you want from your vaping can be very different to what I want. As others have said, sometimes its a pass through that will fit the bill, but once you figure it out, you will be just fine.

Remember too all the other parts of the analogues, like emptying and washing out ashtrays, that you don't have with a PV. Its not all just light and go, there is work on the back end that you don't have with vaping.

One of my greatest pleasures is never having to empty out the car ashtray again..that was such a nasty fussy job!

Good luck with it all.

Surich,

Dont get discouraged. You are really still new at it. It takes a little time to know exactly what is right for you. Once you do, it will become second nature. ;)

About adapters - when buying, make sure the output is 1 amp or 1000ma.
500ma does not allow you to vape from it. How do I know this - I made the mistake. :( I have a wall and car adapter which do not work with PV's.

You can get them on dealextreme or amazon. If you need specifics, pm me.
