Hello everyone

Well, recently I noticed how bad my home smelled of cigarettes. I saw the gamuucci brand at a local gas station and decided to give it a try. At first I was a little disseminated and they actually smelled worse than reg cigs. The first 1 didnt really help so much so I decided to try a menthol. The menthol for some reason simulates the real thing a little more but I still dont see the results I am reading about and watching some videos, it seems like I am not getting the same amount of vapor as everyone else. Is it the brand that I am trying?? Is there a better 1 to try? I really wanted this to work for me and my wife. It is time to change our lifestyle and I am sick of being excluded from events that prohibit smoking. I would love to be able to take a vacation in another country but the 8 hr flight seems impossible at the moment.

So any suggestions on a certain brand? I am not understanding the lingo just yet but will try and read as much as I can on the forums.

thanks in advance

Trying!!!

I know what you mean about wanting the convenience of vaping and not feeling like such a social misfit. A little over a month ago, I decided to investigate e-cigs in anticipation of a 2-week visit with family in GA, none of whom smoke. I read this forum (including every single stickied New Member thread) until my eyes crossed. When I had decided on what I wanted and went to place my order, I still had questions. LOL! The visit went well, btw, and my family was thrilled about my trading cigarettes for a PV.

Persevere, Betterbait, what seems like information overload will soon start making perfect sense and it is sooooo worth it!

For me, I learned that it is more about the juice than it is about the e-Cig. I'd chose an e-Cig for size and Battery life.

I use an eGo because it has an allmost all day battery and the size fits well in my hand. That said, the carts that came with it were terrible. Bad tatse and very little vapor.

So I experimented with different e-Juices and cartomizers. I found that e-Juice that is made up of 50% PG : 50% VG was a good ballance of TH to vapor.

If the only choice for e-Cigs was to use the carts / e-Juice that came from the e-Cig manufacture, I would have thrown the entire starter kit in the trash. Luckly, I found this forum and was able to do research on Batteries and Carts / Cartos.

Spend a little time poking around and read up on the differences of carts vs. cartos. Stock e-Juice vs. Other e-Juice and about battery life.

I don't think there is a perfect out of the box e-Cig kit. But a kit with good battery life and can take either carts or cartos is a good start. Then you can get some better juice and I think you would be set.

I don't know anything personally about the Gamucci, but yes, some ecigs do give much more vapor and throat hit. 510s give a better vapor and th. KR808D-1s (aka Vapor King) give slightly better flavor, but in my experience not quite as much vapor or th. I get better vapor out of a three piece, battery/atty/cartridge than a two piece - battery/cartomizer. And best vapor and th by direct dripping.

My friend pointed me towards the 510, and I'm glad to see a lot of people speaking highly of it, I can't wait until it comes in!
I don't have any suggestions as to a brand to help, but I can give you some advice that my sister gave me when I first tried to stop smoking and wish I had listened:
Clean everything thoroughly. Walls, ceiling, carpets, drapes, your car, etc. Get good de-oderizing air fresheners.
As your sense of smell returns, it's going to smell worse and worse...
I smoke in my car... and I drive alot. I never realized how bad it smelled from the cigarette smoke until a few days after I stopped cold turkey. It made me nauseous, and made the drive to and from work *really* rough on the whole not smoking thing...

One of the big things I learned during my e-cig journey is that a lot of the hardware is "standardized"... i.e., there are certain "sizes" or "types".

I originally paid like $89 for my e-Cig XOX at a local cigar place. Of course, after reading up on it, I now know I can get the stuff for way cheaper on-line. Plus, after I learned about e-juice and "dripping", I don't even try to mess with the cartridges due to me being a total cheap-....

My e-Cig XOX (801/810 style?) came with two battery units which died quick deaths, due to the fact that I use this stuff ALL DAY LONG. But the atomizer lasted for months, in fact it just died the other day.

I found that I enjoy the USB pass-through devices as a battery replacement. If you are around power all day (home, work, car), then you can just get any type of power converter device which has a USB port:
- 120VAC wall charger with USB port (i.e., iPod/Zune charger, digital camera battery charger, etc...)
- 12V car lighter adapter wth USB port (Wal-Mart, Auto-zone type place, etc...)
- COMPUTER. Sometimes I carry around my dumb little netbook JUST TO SMOKE. It lasts WAY longer than any dumb OEM battery unit :p

Anyhow, after you find out what size you like (i.e., 801/810, or the aforementioned 501(?)), then you can find this stuff on the Internet for crazy cheap. And there are only 2 or three "real" pieces:
#1: Atomizer... $15 or so.
#2: Power... either a battery unit or a USB-pass through (USB pass-through $12 or so).
#3: Either the e-juice or the cartridges. I've ditched the cartridges so I can't say on good pricing. But 30ml of Halo e-juice is like $25, but can be had on sale regularly for 10% off. Of course, this may be where you spend some time trying to figure out what flavor you like.

THERE ARE VAST DIFFERENCES IN TASTES AND FLAVORS OF E-JUICE OUT THERE.

Only YOU can find the one that YOU like. And this means you're probably going to spend some time (and probably a little bit of money) trying to figure it all out! I think I got lucky because I only had to try a few and found what I like. Some places have "sample"-sized bottles (3ml or 5ml bottles) with different flavors. DO THIS from SEVERAL different vendors! This will give you an idea of what's out there. Me personally I would recommend trying Johnsons Creek and Halo. They are very different and that experience will give you an idea of the different tastes that are out there. But these are the only ones I've really tried, so I can't offer much more advice beyond that!

My 2 cents! :vapor:

One more addition to my advice here...

As I had mentioned I like the USB pass-through devices since I'm around power all day. But one thing I have noticed is that, in the car, the 12V/USB adapter I have seems to really limit the amount of current. So much so that I notice a marked decrease in vapor(smoke). But if I plug the same USB pass-through into a computer or a different USB power device, it goes way up.

I also tend to notice when using a computer with Microsoft Windows it complains about power surges on the USB port when vaping. While this is concerning to me (i.e., damaging the computer), I've kept doing it for a few months now, and have yet to see any real damage. Of course it may happen or it may not, we'll see, but so far nothing yet.

FYI!
