Hiya Phil, how goes it?
You're looking mighty "tanned and rested", I must say. It was nice to "meet" your Mom and Dad and your lovely and no doubt long-suffering wife - looks like you guys had a well-deserved blast. I got a big kick out of that shot of you and your ... ummm ... "cannon". That's one post I'd hate to have to pull!
Great review as always, and I'm finally getting around to ordering a whole bunch of them as my go-to
device for the many, many people I'm getting off of ciggies. Two Twists, five 3.5ml DCT
tanks (the skinnier ones), ten 3.0 ohm single-coil XL stainless steel cartos (custom-slotted per your instructions of course, as needed) a charger, five flavors, and bye-bye stinkies.
I do this for free for people, and just ask that they try it, like I had to at least try whatever dish my Mom cooked up for us, and if they still want to smoke, fine. If they like it, they can pay me what I paid for the stuff, and not a penny more. And still, only about one person in five will take that offer. Unreal. People fear change, no matter how much for the better it'll be.
Reminds my of the short, great book "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran. It begins with the protagonist leaving the city he has grown up in, where he has experienced nothing but misery, suffering, and loneliness. He is on his way to the shore, where a ship is going to take him to a much better place, where he can start a new life, and find happiness at last. Not fifty paces outside the walled gates of the city, he misses the place already.
The PROPHET, by Kahlil Gibran
Or Paul Simon's "At the Zoo":
Simon & Garfunkel - At The Zoo - YouTube
"The monkeys stand for honesty,
Giraffes are insincere,
And the elephants are kindly but
They're dumb.
Orangutans are skeptical
Of changes in their cages,
And the zookeeper is very fond of rum".
There sure are a lot of orangutans out there, very skeptical of changes to their cages, no matter how smelly and disgusting they are. I do get the rum thing though - in moderation, of course.
I've had a lady tell me "Oh, someone told me those things are bad for you" as she was sucking on a ciggie. Some poor girl told me that I would drown if I inhaled water vapor. Undaunted, I took a few toots anyway and lived to tell about it. I let one woman take my VMax with a perfectly-slotted carto in a DCT tank,
vaping like a champ, just three days after I got it. When I got it back a week later, she said "not interested, I didn't like the flavor". Others say they'll quit cigarettes when they're good and ready, after smoking for decades with no end in sight. I've had medical professionals tell me that nicotine causes cancer. (Reminds me of your epic conversation with a genuine idiot, Dr. Jonathan Whiteson):

You did very, very well. I can't believe that guy is allowed to walk around loose. Thank god I am not that foolish, stubborn, and willfully stupid.
Let's see, what else have I heard .... oh yeah, just two days ago I heard "that thing" (my VMax with an absurdly long stand-alone black carto on it) "is ugly". I said "You want ugly? Stick a camera down your windpipe and take a picture of your lungs". I also hear "I'm just going to quit cold turkey", to which I usually reply "Oh yeah, when's the big day?". The real doozy is "how much does that thing cost"? "Well, how much did you spend on cigarettes last year? Divide that by about fifty". All of a sudden people who spend thousands of dollars a year get budget-conscious when I tell them I could hook them up with all the gear they need along with a month's supply of juice for the cost of two or three weeks of smoking (a pack is over $8.50 here in CT - 2nd highest taxes in the country).
Oh well, I'm just going to keep trying, and relish my many, many success stories.
Again, great review on a great little VV device. I'm still looking hugely forward to getting a Bulli A2-T atomizer; I'm trying to get Tim at Liberty Flights US to get a bunch of them in; 510 connection, stainless steel, B-tank. In the meantime, I've found out that I can order them directly from Bulli in Germany, so that's what I'm going to do. Maybe I'll just set up my own little vape shop here in Canton, CT since I can't even get the local head shop interested in carrying anything worth buying. "We don't have much call for that stuff". OK, fine.
Final thought - it's interesting and counter-intuitive that higher resistances give better battery life, but Mrs. Ohm didn't raise a liar. 4.8 x 4.8 / 3 ohm single coil = 7.68 watts, 1.6 amps. Works for me. 2.5's might be the ticket for some juices, but lete's see - right now I happen to be on one of my last cartos (a big order is long overdue) and it's a 1.5 dual coil (I know, WTF) at 4.0 VMax v1.0 volts = maybe 5 Provari volts = 5 x 5 / 3 = 8-ish watts per coil; just turned it down to 3.6v and still a fine vape, so the Twist should do fine with the 3.0's. Sorry, just thinkin' out loud here ...
Phil, I just looked through all of your reviews and it doesn't look like you've ever reviewed the Bulli atomizer. If I send you one, would you review it? You still have your VMax, right? If it's the one that "goes up to 11", that would be a great review if you can wind up a 6+ ohm single coil - woohoo! I did see your review of the Odysseus, and that's one hella atty too, but I really like Joyetech tanks for some odd reason. Hey, want a laugh? If you haven't seen it, check out Steve from Liverpool talking about his Bulli atty, and tell me if he might be ingesting something in addition to vaporized e-liquid. This guy is great:

That atty looks like it performs just great; can't wait to get one. Sooo sick of cartos I can't begin to tell ya.
All right, that's it, gotta go - posts don't pull themselves ya know. See you around the zoo.
