The ER`s will always be full. Just like "the poor will always be with you", LOL.
Once you have gotten around to teaching everyone how to use any particular PV mod correctly you`ll have to move on to teaching everyone how to drive correctly.

Id wish you luck, but umm, you gonna need more then luck.
Thanks, I will, its what I do, knowledge is my thing, as a Buddhist being able to teach is considered a gift

hope you still feel the same way when your fav shop is regulated out of existence

I am not of the conclusion that it is a bad design. NO offense intended buy it is not an inherently bad design. The name itself may be somewhat of an oxi- mor..on, but the design is as perfect as perfect gets for its intended purpose.
We should definitely ban all donut spares.

I feel it is a very bad design. The original hybrids used a unique thread no? Perhaps the designers of them foresaw a possibility of incompatibility. A 510 hybrid is just an accident waiting to happen...

Really glad you're ok. There could be a section hidden from visitors too, I don't know, just saying...

Taking into account the general offer these days, I really don't see the use in vaping with mech mods other than a personal preference of the kind that's not really explainable.

I wish you faith, hope, love, and sanity on your journey.

As for me, I`m not of the mind to have a favorite shop. Seems like a real limitation in opinion.

i still remember when the smpl came out, it was raved about because of how sleek and simple the design was, which is the main selling point of this mod, it just looks like a tube, unscarred by branding or seams. It attracts many kinds of people regardless if they want a mech or not. It is the most simple looking, compact 18650 out. It's just a tube with a switch on the bottom, no frills no circuitry no safety features no nothing. Which makes me wonder why it ever costed 120$ in the first place.

Wow.

I've read a lot of very intelligent and informative replies on this thread.
I don't understand a word of any of them.

And people not on this forum, or not reading this thread will not even have the chance...
To not understand what you all are talking about.

My takeaway is that this whole endeavor is getting way too dangerous.
This is truly getting ridiculous.

basically, when ecigs started is when the whole experimenting and getting blown up was necessary to help prevent future mishaps, with regulated mods out there, 'mech mods' are basically dinosaurs, there is really no point in a vaper to go back and use mech mods unless you are a vaping enthusiast. Regulated mods perform better and are safer. The only positive you get from a mech mod nowadays is portability (although it makes no sense because you really arent suppose to put your mods in your pockets or in unsafe areas with other objects), or just because it 'looks cooler than a box'.

one of the reasons people used mech mods was because there was no way to get 100+watts out of the early regulated mods. The only way to get a good cloudy/warm build was to build subohm and get direct voltage from the battery to increase the wattage. With mods out that are 100/150/200watts now, there really is no point for mech mods anymore. Even the new regulated mods can handle lower builds than any battery in a mech mod can support.

I love my dinosaur.
Ya, it probably has something to do with the looks, but man when you push that button, magic happens, :?)

...I bought the SMPL on the advice of someone here in an open thread visible to all...no one said anything about this not being usable with all atties.

This is the part that sickens me.

This thread is full of blame-the-OP when he/she simply followed the irresponsible recommendation of someone believed to be more knowledgeable on the most reputable pro-vaping site on the Internet.

Why anyone still uses or recommends a mech of any kind baffles me. It's like arguing that you don't need a GPS on your phone or navigation system in your car because a paper map will get you there.

Back on topic, this situation could have been a lot worse for the OP and I'm very glad that it wasn't.

I dont see people blaming the OP  I see a lot of people stressing safety and reading up/education though. They are informing/teaching him of what he did wrong to cause the short. There is nothing wrong with that. Id rather be taught a lesson than be happily ignored and go off and hurt myself again.

Cause Reo's are the bees knees and you don't need a GPS if you know where you're going. :)

Putting your safety in the hands of a Chinese regulated mod manufacturer instead of the laws of physics and your own common sense is a choice.

I use both regulated and unregulated mods, but I try to keep their limitations in mind when doing so.

I have several mods that use "hybrid" top caps. I have an Ant by Holyland Mods that uses a washer with an adjustable center screw to isolate the battery top from grounding out on the attys 510 threads. For my cheaper hybrid clones that don't have such protection, I bought a half dozen of these:

full

They're a cheap (usually around a buck) item that's used to convert a flat top battery into a nipple top. It's simple, cheap protection and I only need them with atty's that don't have a prominent center pin in their 510...

Sure first you get the regulation kit in the mail, then you have to go down and watch some grainy black and white films like in high school. And you get an official vaping license, with endorsements like a DL. After a class or two you get certified in regulated, unregulated, coil builder. Sub ohm safety, DIY mixer, battery standards etc. From there the vape shop has to see your permit before showing you a mod.

What could possibly go wrong:rolleyes:

While it's never a good idea to get the gov't involved in anything, that sort of thing might not be a bad idea for a certification system for shop owners and their staff that an association or trade group could run.

This will be my last post on this thread - it's my bedtime anyway. I could have said nothing about this incident and no one would have been any wiser. But I did.. and the first thing I asked was - was it my fault? and then asked for advice. If I were to tell the whole story, I bought the SMPL on the advice of someone here in an open thread visible to all. I don't remember who it was and even if I did I wouldn't mention them. I'm sure they meant well. But again no one said anything about this not being usable with all atties.

I admit I was stupid. Now after all the discussion I still have a burnt thigh but I am a little less stupid. I'm not blaming the mod. I'm not blaming anyone but myself.

I hope that makes everyone happy. Goodnight from me and have a nice evening.

Did you miss all of the kind posts grateful that this thread was started and those showing concern for your wellbeing?

You did ask if it was your fault and some felt it was. No need to be offended by that, since you opened the door by asking..

Also it is hard to judge whomever gave you the advice about the SMPL since we do not know the context of that excahnge or if the person knew you did not know about such things.

Guess what happens after people watch that grainy black and white film to get a drivers license, they go out and have wrecks.

They make us watch grainy all be it color films to enter plants for deliveries, still have accidents.

While it's a great theory that education would eliminate all accidents and keep us warm, safe, and cheerily happy Murphys Law rules over us all.

It is made in the USA (matters to me).

It's elegant - the perfect embodiment of a tube mod.

The machining is flawless (mine is, anyway).

The fire button is a buttery smooth work of art.

What I was trying to say was that mods with a top cap, which in the case of both the Pisces and the Nemesis have some sort of insulation, would be a much safer option and usable with most atties. If I am wrong, please correct me.
Glad you weren't seriously hurt or worse. Yes, the pisces and nemesis should be fine. Best practice for any mod/atty is to screw the atty on first before tightening up the rest of it, less chance of depressing a pin that way.

All over the place
Man, this thread moved fast. I am sorry this happened to the you (OP), but I am curious about something that I have not seen addressed here (maybe you did?): what was the impetus for you to use *this* set-up? No offence intended, but did you just buy willy nilly? I guess (if I were to be honest), I am wondering why this is happening more and more lately with the plethora of options we have available. My fear is that someone at a vape shop told you it was awesome or there is some video of someone using this pairing becasue I can't really understand why these components get paired together -- and it seems like this is more common that I would've ever imagined. The sad part is that I only know it's common becasue of the similar accidents happening lately.
