Excellent Piece, By Paul Smalera. I do believe this guy is a journalist. From me that is a huge compliment.
You know, our people in the House and Senate could use a good investigative reporter, would anyone agree with that? The facts are out here, just need to be gleaned, and brought out in these late-night bill debates. Whoo-hoo, what good Network News this would make! This is the part of "tangled web we weave" that nobody ever sees, and would not know what to do with the truth if it kicked them in the @$$!!!!!!!!! But do any of them ask for background checks on their "sources" and "co-sponsors"? NOT?
Best piece of legislative work in Decades? Does anyone in Washington feel stupid yet, or what other shoe are they waiting for to drop. Does anyone know if Pres O smokes menthols?
FULL DISCLOSURE??? I think Paul Smalera just gave us some. Give that guy a Pulitzer Prize!!
And BigJimW, you are in some pretty tough company there on Google "tobacco Free Kids"
Maybe you felt some "looks to kill"? Are you Ok?

HAHA, I'm perfectly fine Kate. What I'm not fine about is this country going to Hell like it is. I was in the Air Force and would have gladly died for the United States. But now, I see that the United States is not worth dying for anymore. And I am afraid of what country it will be when I leave this world some day and my sons and my grandkids are left to fend for themselves.

And I do love my top billing in the videos of "tobacco Free Kids". It fits so well, as they fell for the biggest tobacco LIE ever produced. Time for Uncle Cletus with the funny cowboy hat to tell the boys and girls how they got suckered. 8-o

Well said and I agree. And thank you for your service. I love the AF. My daughter just got out in December and her husband is a C-17 pilot. Again my appreciation for your service.

what sucks is not being able to derail the train
steves9090
Oh, I think the train can still be derailed. It will take a wake up call and lots of people to get off of their arses. Hopefully they are taking notice of what is going down the drain these days. Their freedoms and having to pay higher taxes that get you less public services.

I still have some hope.

Tell your daughter to get back in. :D The Air Force is the BEST.

I was heartbroken over what I saw a couple of weeks ago. My oldest son wanted to join and when I drove him to the recruiters office, we saw a sign on the locked door that there is a freeze on recruitment until October 2010! :(

You can't even join a WAR anymore. That is how bad it is now in the US.

If the military won't take you, God only knows what will happen next.

No kidding 2010? Must be alot of enlistments due to high unemployment?
The AF is the way to go if you want to serve. They take good care of you. She was a loadmaster on the C-17 and enjoyed her work. Now she is settling down to married life and likes being in one place for awhile.
I hope if he wants in he is able to to that soon. Does he have a college degree? Maybe officers training?

Yup, 2010. Funny part was the Navy down the hall is still recruiting and called my son in for an interview while we were crying at the Air Force recruiter door. My son wanted to join the Air Force, but went in to the naval interview. He did not like. He wanted to join the Air Force.

I can't say as I blame him. I would not want to be known as "Seamen First Class" :D

First class semen. Gotta love it.

I look at what's going on today where the government is out of control, accusations being made, personal agendas being pursued at the DIRECT cost of the public, prejudices being practiced by the government and I'm seeing a lot of another dark day of our nations history. I'm seeing many of the same things that happened during the McCarthy era.

The platforms are different, the injustice against the public may be different, but the way the crimes are being committed by members of the government and special interest groups are frighteningly similar. All I can do is prey that one day soon, the public will have it's fill and end this era sooner than later while we still have a country left and our freedoms left. On the issue of freedoms, I fear it's already too late.

I will guarantee you one thing though. If they do outlaw e-cigs and we're all forced back to analogues, I'll be damned if I'll buy another pack of taxes from the government. I've got a acre of land out back. More than enough room to grow my own tobacco. Last time I looked, they hadn't passed a law against that yet. Besides, the exercise I'd get while growing my own cancer sticks might do me good. 8-o The pleasure of not making the government richer while they burn through my money faster than I can grow a weed will feel good for sure.

With my 200th post here, I give you Archie Bunker. :)

    archie_bunker.jpg

The big problem is "political correctness". Anyone who, like you or I, that stands as a hard critic of the gobernment and sees what is going on and speaks out against it, are viewed as crackpots, .... lovers, Hitler Skinheads, terrorists, hate gays, rednecks, fill in the blank to whatever else you can think of, etc...

People are afraid of speaking up for this very reason. The don't want to "offend". Well, I am making it a mission point to "offend" as many as possible, because I find losing my rights and liberties to a bunch of sell outs offensive.

And I'm not going to stay quiet about it. 8-o

Archie Bunker was cool. He was the most politically incorrect character to ever grace the TV screen. Ya gotta love him :D

Bravo To BigJim and Archie -
I try to be offensive as often as I can - :)

I just found out Friday night that one of my grandsons is heading for Marine boot camp at San Diego in two weeks, infantry. Some branches must still be recruiting. Makes me proud, nontheless. Makes me sound really old too. When his Dad was fighting in the first Iraq blowdown, I was making a baby quilt for him. Time does fly.

Thank you grandson for me and my family. We appreciate his service. My dad is a marine vet and besides us seven kids, he is the proudest of serving his country as a Marine.
Prayers will be said for his success in boot camp.

I'm an Air Force vet.. my oldest son is a Navy officer...and my youngest son is a firefighter in the USAF currently stationed in Iraq.
Again, thank you for your service. Also appreciate your sons civic service as a firefighter and his military service as an airman.
My AF son in law just left to go over to the sand pit for his deployment tonight. I hate that my daughter is in another state so I can't be with her to make her feel a little less lonely.

A very sweet-bitter day in Iraq, watching the celebrations taking place in official "withdrawal" of troops from cities. Looking on from outside the flavor of "victory" for the Iraqis is tempered with a little loathing, also, but everywhere you look is the presence of US blood, treasure, and tremendous efforts. I wonder is Saddam is looking through a Portal from somewhere to see "his" people taking power. God's Speed to them, pray they can hold their peace. This effort will likely never be over. Greed and power egos are hard to fight down
