Homeish now
I got bite from one of those while in NC..no fun at all :p
Have a nice scar on my elbow from it.

Funny thing is I got bite while coming back from leave...so I found it the next day when I was back on my ship. I'm pretty sure I got bite at a friends barn that I stopped at on the way out of town......but it freaked the medical officers out so much they Bombed the whole ship. Just in case.

Hope your son is alright...what a horrible place to be bitten!

oh i like snow - and lights and they blend so well together - never have minded snow- that's what snow chains and snowblowers are for. after that it's pretty.

was born in MI

I've seen my share of blizzards and I could live without seeing anymore. :)

I grew up in California, so I understand the heat. I remember during the winter it would get down to 65 degree's and everyone was wearing winter coats, gloves, scarves, and still freezing. lol

I miss the earthquakes though. Those were fun, it was like Disneyland gave out free E tickets for everyone in So Cal...

I lived in Mi most of my life. I do miss the white Christmas.
Who in their right mind decorates a palm tree??? We call them Christmas poles LOL

I dont do well in the cold weather now though, that is if I want to be able to stand up and walk.

I know what you mean. When it rains or gets cold I feel every one of the 119 broken bones I had and every piece of metal and screw that's in me. I hate winter. I have seriously looked into moving to Costa Rica. They actually have better healthcare than we do,

luckily i'm still young enough to (well all except my fingers but if i get them working it doesn't bother me much - it'll suck the day my neck and back cracking catches up w/ me though)
Snow and crutches just don't mix!
I grew up in Oswego, NY. Upstate New York... right on top of Lake Ontario. You wanna talk snow? YOU HAVEN'T SEEN SNOW.
Lake Erie here. Lake effect snow sucks!

lol.. I guess you've seen snow then

Winters in Oswego were always awful. I remember walking home from school once WAIST DEEP in snow. I was sick for a week and still had to go to school. And walk back in WAIST DEEP snow.

Oh, and I was 15 and 5'8".

Well, I never made my kids wade through waist deep snow to get to school, that is a bit extreme even for a Michigan winter

Where they have snow that deep they clear before they open school. You should see the massive snow blowers they have up there in the UP

I had gotten kicked off the bus because I swore. A lot. But my mom didn't have a car so she just made me walk.

even blizzards never bothered me - that's when u break out the booze and party (providing u were dilligent enough to keep a lot of cut wood on u'r covered porch)

Thats like being in the upper peninsula of Mich Sallena, they actually have to build covered runways out the door of the house to the street cause the snow gets higher then the doors sometimes and they couldnt get out .

well upper MI was nice and that's y u had covered porches and a good wood stove i thought (and shovels on the porch) maybe there was something i didn't get growing up in MI

i loved it there growing up - but i've always been the type that would rather b cold than hot too - logic being when u'r cold u can always put more on - when u'r hot u can only take so much off.

Ya Jules, I hate to say it but you would feel better down here.
Even Tenn gets cold sometimes.

We had a bad winter this year. Several nites in the single digits and that is odd for us. Usually we get just a sprinkling of snow but last year we had several good ones, well, what would be called that for a southern state, lol

Oh, and send my best wishes to your son. I don't envy him.

The only time they would call off school was if the heat broke. And yeah, I walked to school from 7th grade thru the end of the 9th grade. I would take a plastic bag and another pair of jeans with me because by the time I got to school my pants would be frozen. I would change and put the frozen pants in the bag to carry home, lol

And did I mention that it was uphill BOTH ways? :p
