Hi folks!
Just wanted to share some of my feelings on the term "analog."
As a newbie to the e-cigarette world and forum, I'm just making some friendly observations that I think may help the cause. First off, I'd like to say that I'm really impressed by the amount of pride exhibited here, at the forum.
Not only are we pro vapor... but we're anti smoke!
That's endearing! Smokers (or former smokers) do care about the world around them and we do want to live healthy lives, in a healthier society.
That's a strong, positive message to send out there! Now, there's a safe alternative to smoking cigarettes available to the public and we're facing abolition from the fu*king FDA.
How many innocent lives are lost, nightly, by the irresponsible acts of motorists while under the influence of alcohol??
What's being done about it?!
Absolut vodka is able to use the images of everyone from Warhol, to the Stones, to Kanye West and nobody seems to be worried about their children becoming alcoholics based on the power of persuasion.
Worried about bubblegum flavored vapor? Gimme a break!
How many flavors of Schnapps are there? No issue with that?
I'm not worried about my infant child growing up to become addicted to e-cigarettes any more than I'm worried about a caffeine addiction.
Alcohol, on the other hand...
We all have our vices. Lung cancer or liver disease (not to mention an entire life down the drain while drinking your way to cirrhosis), these consequences are unacceptable and should raise massive concern.
So, that said, my point may be that we should take a harder stand against "analogs" in order to shine a more positive light on vapors.
So... I vote against referring to tobacco products as "analogs" and would rather call them what they really are... "cancers."
In my line of work, which is music production, the term "analog" is quite a favorable one.
Analog anything is commonly thought of as:
1. Natural
2. Favorable
3. Warm
4. Nostalgic
5. Authentic
This, in my humble opinion, is no way to refer to something that has gripped our lives with the threat of agonizing death, guilt, and financial drain.
The e-cigarette has changed my life. In no way can I condone the use of government regulated tobacco products when such an amazing alternative has been provided in such a cost effective way.
Call it like it is, folks. Analogs are cancers. Are you for them or against them? I, for one, am totally against them.
Stop smoking in America by supporting the electric cigarette.
This could be our mantra. Let's not romanticize big tobacco by referring to it as an "analog"... let's kill it by calling it a "cancer."
Maybe somebody else has a better idea? I'd love to read everybody's thoughts on this. Any good ideas?
Hopefully this correspondence isn't too convoluted. You see where I'm going with this? Maybe the vapors (or e-cigs) shouldn't even be referred to as a "cigarette" either. Seriously. Perhaps it's a better idea to cut all association.
Rather than the vapor merely being perceived as an extension of a dangerous tobacco product, perhaps we need to become more unique and committed to independence.
The black 901 with a blue led is pretty different and futuristic.
In what way does it resemble, aesthetically, a traditional cigarette?
It doesn't. It's not a cigarette at all.
Ok. Open for discussion. Just wanted to send this thought out there.
Thanks!! Keep up the great work and the good fight!
p.s. can't wait to enjoy my vapor next time I'm in NYC or LA. There's two places where big tobacco isn't tolerated what so ever. I'm finally on their side! Whoppee!!
