A dry burn will thoroughly get rid of any cooties and an alcohol soak and dryburn of silica, ceramic, steel will get rid of contaminants. Dryburning, torching will turn most stuff into carbon. If people knew what they ingested and breathed in on a daily basis many possibly wouldn't want to live even in our cleanest environments/habitats/work places. PUBLIC!!!!...... railings, handles, buttons, money......... most surfaces are NASTY with cooties people just don't think about. I'm amazed by how squeamish people are about common cooties. Warning to many....... you don't want to know what resides on your epidermis and hair!!!!! I'm amazed that so many people eat at restaurants.

Worst place mine has been - and what prompted me to carry it from then on in a phone case on my belt - was the waterjet cutting machine tank at work. That's a tank about 3 feet deep and all the sand and sludge collects at the bottom - you cannot see thru it - it's not like a spa!
I was prepared to drain the tank if i had to, to retrieve it, but i found it after 20 mins of fishing in the sludge up to my shoulder. There was a lot of grit and general filth in the Reo - but a wash and a new battery and it works just fine!

In honor of Pietro moving into his new home today, I am bumping up this thread. (It's easy to see the real reason he is moving. The memories haunt him every time he enters THAT ROOM in the old house. Too much to live with.)
