This is driving me [edited] !!! I was having a problem with my Chi clone switch getting hot. So I cleaned it and tried 3 different rda's on it....didn't help. So I said forget it and ordered a new brass King clone and it was PERFECT ! Today while I was vaping I noticed about every 4-5 puffs it was kinda weak. Then it started to happen more often. Now it's taking a long time for the coil to heat up and............THE SWITCH GETS HOT !! I've cleaned it & I've tried rebuilding ALL of my rda's from a .3 dual to a 1.6ohm single....nothing helps.

What am I doing wrong with these frickin things ???

anyone wanna guess what I went and got

Admitting you have no clue about power transfer and proper maintenance is a good place to start.

What are you using to confirm you have actually been building .3ohm coils?
How are you placing these coils in relation to internal parts?
How many of your mods have you ever completely disassembled and cleaned thoroughly?
How often?
What Brand Batteries/ model Batteries/ and charger are you using?
Do you allow your batteries to rest and cool before placing in the charger?
Do you allow your Batteries to rest and stabilize after charging?

It does not take a rocket scientist, but it does take plenty of attention to keep things working properly. For some it is second nature and not even a bother or at times even realized. For others it is a mission that takes a good game plan.

They're sony vtc4's I have 5 that I just rotate. I use an ohm meter, wouldn't run one without it. I've been doing the same thing for the past 4 months with no problems. I just started going down to .3 - .4ohm in the last month, never had a problem with that until about 2 weeks ago. I thought it was the Chi so I got a new King clone and it was perfect until today.

What's the chance of something being wrong with 5 batteries, 2 mods, and 4 RDA's. To me the more logical thing would be the 1 person....

If I have a problem with my bike, I fix the part that's wrong. This thing has like 5 parts and has me stumped.

Is there any way I can start from scratch without buying a new mech. ?

and I never heard of letting a battery sit before and after charging. I always stuck it in the charger when I felt it drop off. But what are the chance of all of them going bad at the same time ?

I guess my question is......When you take the RDA off the mech. regardless of what happened, aren't you starting with a new slate as far as the mod goes ?

Is a .39ohm dual coil too low to use as a all day vape ? I thought as long as the battery can handle it I'd be okay ?

The more amperage you require the battery to provide .. the more heat it will generate (wattage). That's a given. That heat will dissipate at every point of resistance. That's also a given. The coil, contacts, threads, etc. are all points of resistance.

So yes, when sub ohming things can get pretty warm. The more the resistance at any given point .. the warmer it will get. Hopefully your coil has more resistance than the switch.

So I just put a 1.4 ohm coil (no jumping up or down in the ohm meter) in my Omega, new battery (Sony 30amp), put the atty on my mod and it's taking too long to heat the coil. This thing was instant when I first got it. Then....the button starts to heat up.

I guess I just don't get it (place idiot looking icon here), this thing has like 10 parts of pretty simple looking parts. Broke the whole thing down and cleaned every part with a toothbrush and alcohol with no change in performance.

Is it possible to ruin a mod even if no parts appear to be damaged ? I've been looking online for 2 days now for answers and see nothing. Only people saying to put in magnets or add grease. I can't stand not being able to figure something out. I become obsessed with it, which has helped out tons with my motorcycle but I'm getting my but KICKED by a friggin flashlight !!!

I just put my Trident on the meter and it read .41 ohm, when I tapped one of the coils it jumped to .42 and would go back and forth. This was a RDA that I used pretty often as I would change juices. Could this short have ruined my mods, or a part in them ?

I'm just starting to get into mechs myself, and just started building last month, but I would think that a short could ruin your batteries. There are people here with a lot more experience then myself, including yourself though. I'm curious, so I'll be watching the thread to see the answer.... From what I understood, it's pretty hard to kill a mech itself.

I dont have any experience with your particular devices, but in my experiences with my mechs - poor performance can be from oxidation on the contacts. I also found out that on some devices with specific types of contacts using sub ohm builds means they will require fairly frequent cleaning - whenever you notice poor performance, step one check for shorts in your build - which you did, if you know your battery is all set, always go to cleaning contacts next.

You would be surprised at just how much of an effect this has :)

In general if its your daily work horse - clean it all (like completely break it down) about once a week and clean the contacts in between if you notice performance is slipping.

(If this doesnt fix you up, please let us know. Then one more possible issue has been eliminated at least :) )

I bought a Chi you clone and I have the exact same problem as well! I tried different builds cleaning and a bunch of other stuff... nothing ever fixed it. I took a build that I had on the chi you and put it on my atomo clone w/ a magnet switch and it was fine. I believe theres something wrong with these clones. where did you get yours from/can you post pics? I would love to compare it to mine to see if we have the same one

That is not a short. It simply means that a connection is not all the way tight, and thus is another point of resistance.

    Noalox the threads and contacts.

I just went to the store and got a multi meter, just so I could double check my ohm meter, and also my batteries (which are reading 4.16 as the highest reading and 4.06 on the lowest). They didn't have any Noalox there.

I've already cleaned every piece on both mods. The King is only 6 days old, still looks brand new and I still cleaned it and when I fire it it's taking pretty long to heat the coil (it was INSTANT at first !) and the switch gets hot.

What am I not getting with this ? I can't do anything but think about this. Wouldn't putting a new build on a cleaned mod be like starting over ?

So with thinking I had nothing to lose I took my mod in the bathroom and cleaned everything with toothpaste. I wanted something abrasive to use on the threads. Probably not a good idea but like I said I pretty much wrote it off as a loss anyway. Well I put a dual coil at .8ohm in and have been vaping on it for about 20 minutes and it's hitting like it was new ????

I didn't see there was some dark coloring in a few of the threads until I looked in there with a flashlight. I also saw there was some darker color on the negative sides of one of my batteries. It t's really light and it looks like a thin band. It's in the trash now.

THANKS for all the help.......probably be back soon ..../
