Aaaarrrrrgggg! Server busy!

Ok, has this been an issue for others as bad as it has been for me?

I have said I was going to do a review when I got a chance and today I got back to the office, saw my latest order, the 4075 atties, blank carts and said to my self "This is perfect, now I can do a flavor review". So I took the rest of the day off, filled 17 blank carts, plugged in 3 PTs and lined up all the CMs and 4075 carts.

I spent the next two hours filling carts and working out a simple yet informative (well informative to me, LOL ) way to rate the flavors.

I believe I have all the flavors besides four or five and at least one or more that you don't have listed anymore (Carmel, Pina C..... )

I burned in each atty (five of them) and put them aside before I started the test, I also had a glass of pure grain to clean the atties before trying a new cart.

Ok so I started and was doing doing 2 carts and following them with a CM, three draws on each and followed by a sip off my Crown and Coke (I took the day off) to clean my palate (sp) Heck I'm buzzed, my spelling may have gone to hell.

Ok, back to the point... I finished 25+ flavors and with a smile and sense of pride, I hit the "submit" button, poured myself another drink, looked up and CRIED!!!! Server is busy, try again later, OMFG four hours down the drain and a seriously numb toung and throat. LOL Has anyone else had the same issue a lot lately?

I'll try and set up the test again this weekend, but have to replace all the cart filler, thank goodness I bought enough to fill carts for the next two years!!! LOL

Yep! Don't you love it when you spend time writing out a long thoughtful post and then submit it and BAM! Nothing! Very frustrating!

This might be a little late for you, but if you hit the back button on your browser, it should still have your post. It's worked for me on a few occasions.

I use Firefox as my primary browser, not certain if IE or something else would not work this way but I haven't lost a post doing this.

I open a new tab, write my post and hit submit. If the server is busy I wait a few minutes and click reload. FF asks if I want to resend the data and I click yes. If the server is still busy I'm still in the same spot, nothing lost nothing gained. I can come back in 15 minutes and do the same thing and if the server is freed up it posts as if nothing ever happened.

I don't think it's necessary for me to open the new tab, that's just a habit I have on forums. Makes it easier to bounce back and forth and not get lost.

Another old habit from a person that used to play on forums that had a lot of problems. Before you hit "reply", highlight all of the text in the box and hit "Ctrl-C" (same as right-click COPY). That will put all of your typed text on your clipboard. If the server pukes, the text isn't lost. Next time you get around to it (or when the server is behaving better), put your cursor in the text box and hit Ctrl-V" (same as right-click PASTE).. and there's your text.

A forum as small as this one should not be experiencing this issue as often as it is.

Getting a good server that can handle 10X this load would only cost around $5 for a two year deal.

Charge the vendors $20 a month for their vendor forums and your costs are covered. Not too terribly difficult.

I used to post a lot on gaming sites...I used to type up a post i knew would be fairly long in notepad or word and cut and paste it into the text field...I used to do a lotta things..

this exact thing more or less happened to me the other day as well. and the learning curve must be steep, cause i still havnt learned to put it in notepad or word first :/

And I have been a gamer, forum user, forum admin for years
the learning curve must be pretty steep for me as well LOL
Personally I belive we are all just so brilliant that when the muse strikes us, it leaves no room for little things like remebering to copy paste to word or *coug cough* where to find the dang quote button on a new forum site * blushes profusely*

Sorry about all your lost work *hugs* I am loving your orginal post in this thread and wish I could have seen it! I t looked promising both in scope and content But I was really enjoying your wit! Hope to see more from you soon!
