(funny little thing i just found out, firefox's spellchecker doesnt like Anishinaabe, when you right click on it to see their suggested spelling - it suggests 'vanishing'.. wow)

happy day to my northern brothers and sisters!

Mod zi gidaz (Thank you in Sahnish (Arikara)), :)

I think vaping offers a unique opportunity for First Nation Peoples to break the cycle from tobacco abuse, i love the idea of helping get the word out in tribal communities!

It was a blast! The one-on-one approach works best in my opinion. They got to try our devices and a few flavors. This will now make them messengers to others in the community.

Thanks for that. There is more to come. We, First Nations, can help the Vaping community, There is more to come. Yes smoke shops on Reserve generate a lot of badly needed income for the communities but the last time I was in Six Nations (buying Colts - Rum & Wine) it was mostly non-Aboriginals doing the buying. Vaping might be a way for us to get a head of the legislative / policy curve by partnerships and wouldn't it be great if Six Nations had a pharama grade nicotine plant instead of bringing it from China?

i love the idea.. in America, upwards of 30% of Natives smoke, compared to 20%-ish of the general population. In a population already so small, 30% can and should be considered an epidemic.

I look for every opportunity to promote vaping as an alternative to smoking to everyone that will listen. Im lucky to be in an urban Native center like Denver - plenty of opportunity to talk to other NDNs about vaping..

My great great grama was black foot (picture below).. not sure if it's tribe or nation... Not much native left in me but none the less I still reseach but unfortunately I am not sure how to go further. The pic below is my great great grama who married an Italian man and the boy in the middle is my current grama's father.. I thought it was a neat surprise when my grama sent me this picture.

Hey Constantine Iroquois is a group of six different nations so if you are part iroquois you would actual be either Mohawk Oneida Onondaga Cayuga Seneca or Tuscarora. hope this helps your searching.

I was born and raised in tyendinaga I still work there and live in the neighboring city of Belleville. The smokes on my territory account for a massive percentage of employment. So as much as I am glad I quite smoking. It is also nice to see people afford food on their table clothes for their children siding on their houses and decent cars in their driveways. Before the smoke shops my territory was quite poor. The neat thing about all the cigarette money coming into the reserve is that alot of the owners have taken that money and investsd it into more secure businness ventures such as real estate contracting/excavation companies auto parts stores as well as donating to youth sports programs.

That very helpfull info for me...at My Family setteled in the Brokvile area and Wolf Island area both in Ontario ...I did a little digging and as far as anyone could tell me my great Grandfather was a mand leader as of his registry into the Canadian army
and it was either Mohawk or Iroquois!!!!
I am pround of my what ever % Canadian Indian I am ...and I have always been a hunter and gatherer by nature...some say to an extream!

I hope I am welcome here under the % I have in me..lol
I see the res as a huge impact zone of tobacco use good and bad as stated and I can't think of a better place to push for legal sales of nic e-liquid as a income instead of tobacco sales in Canada??? I think that would be a huge pro all the way around...keep the income from the e-liquid and also get 1000's of Native Canadians and non Native Canadians off the cigs!
what do you all think?

Had some bannock, smoked salmon and soap berry icecream today while listening to the all-nations drummers and checking out the Gidahmes dancers. Awesome!

I have had the Bannock and I love it and often make it over a camp fire when deer hunting.
I love smoked salmon and make up about 50lbs of it my self each fall!
Soap berry icecream???? you got me brother....I have not even the slightest clue! lol
