Hey all,

About to make my first purchase, and have basically decided on a 510 based on affordability, use, and reliability that I seem to read around these forums.

I know these answers are out there, but I have been reading around these forums a few days now and don't really have any more time to research, and all the info has caused information overload so I don't remember what I read about what product, lol.

OK, on to the questions.

1. How long do the batteries REALLY last.

2. How long between cart top ups?

3. Is it possible to charge the battery on a pass through as I was considering a kit w/o a charger and if I can charge on a pass through that would save some cash.

4. I did't have time to research eliquids as much as I'd like, so reccommendations for top shelf and med quality e juice. Also, I will be strictly nicotine free fwiw.

5. Does the 510 have a burn in peroid?

6. How often do the atomizers burn out, and how many extra's should I pick up to get me started.

7. Lastly, is there an affordable screwdriver type unit with super battery life that won't set me back a bill and a half. I saw the ones on puresmoker for $139, the protegy or something, but still pricey for me compared to the kit I found is $45 with everything for a dual cig kit.

8. How will a 510 manual compare in vapor production and battery life to a SD?

OK, blasted you all with enough questions.

TIA.

Regarding the 510 device questions...
What do you smoke now, and how many per day?

Regarding the juice question, everyone is different.
There is no way around trying things out and finding what you like.
But if you want top shelf I hear that Puresmoker is a good option.

The 510 works straight out of the box for most people.
But sometimes you get an atomizer that needs some breaking in.

If you want an affordable mod, like a screwdriver, look at the Janty Stick.

The mods will generally beat out any standard model.
That includes the 510, although it is a very good vapor producer.

1. How long do the batteries REALLY last.

Not nearly long enough! LOL I would say about 2 hours tops for me.

2. How long between cart top ups?

I end up topping off after about 20 puffs. Not sure if I am not filling the cart correctlyor if the 510 just burns that much liquid. I am thinking the latter.

3. Is it possible to charge the battery on a pass through as I was considering a kit w/o a charger and if I can charge on a pass through that would save some cash.

I thought all kits had a charger. I know none of my pass-throughs charge a battery but that doesn't mean there isn't one out there.

4. I did't have time to research eliquids as much as I'd like, so reccommendations for top shelf and med quality e juice. Also, I will be strictly nicotine free fwiw.

My personal favorites are Nhaler, Electronic-Ash, Eastmall, and I recently added Lux as a favorite. This is sort of a hit or miss thing based on your taste, as some suppliers have their liquid custom made.

5. Does the 510 have a burn in peroid?

I didn't think so.

6. How often do the atomizers burn out, and how many extra's should I pick up to get me started.

I am still on my first one after about 6 weeks. Perhaps a little longer.

7. Lastly, is there an affordable screwdriver type unit with super battery life that won't set me back a bill and a half. I saw the ones on puresmoker for $139, the protegy or something, but still pricey for me compared to the kit I found is $45 with everything for a dual cig kit.

Take a look at the "Modder's Forum" as they have some great inventions out there. I recently got one (my first) and I love it... but still too soon to say how long the battery life will be.

8. How will a 510 manual compare in vapor production and battery life to a SD?

Can't help ya there! LOL ;-)

OK, blasted you all with enough questions.

Good luck in your quest for the perfect device and liquid! :D

Wow, thanks for the quick replies. Sat down to a late dinner a when I got back lots of replies.

Deadcat - Thats one thing I am unclear on. When I think "Mod" I think something you adapted or made at home, not something premake like the janty. So maybe you could clear that up for me what "Mod" covers. Fwiw, the janty was my other choice. It was the "Most reliable thread" where 206/698 said the 510 was the best/most reliable.

Also would love to hear of any rec's.

AnglVapin and Robert, thanks for the reply.

I guess a mod means anything that doesn't look like a cigarette because it uses bigger batteries that last a lot longer, are much cheaper, readily available, and help produce more vapor.

Pretty sure the JStick was once a 'mod' and if you don't have a problem with something not looking like a cigarette, I'd recommend it. I started with and still use the 510 but the JS battery lasts much longer, has great vapor, easy draw, no huffing, (iow, the draw and vapor is 'more like a cigarette') and the cable that charges it, doubles as a passthru with a longer and sturdier cable than the 510 passthru. Comes with 2 batteries and you can charge them both and the one not in use holds the charge (or has so far) - iow, take it with you. If you get one, get at least an extra atty for starters and if you don't have a usb wall plug and usb car plug, get them too.

Had I known how good this was, I would have started with it. Now I haven't had or tried other mods, so have no basis for comparison with them of course.

Right on Kent, thanks for the reply

I was a little confused how the janty stick works.

You insert a standard 901 atomizer and cartridge and the battery is held parallel to the atomizer.

So, what advantage besides larger battery than a standard 901 does the janty stick have?

Thanks

Funk

I've never had a 901 so don't quote me ;-) ... but I don't think there is any other than the JS is manual (an advantage, imho having had a RN4081 'auto' and the 510 manual) and because of the battery placement, dripping is safer, but I think there's a manual 901 coming soon. Pretty sure the 901 has a passthrough but don't know if that's manual or auto.

Just a correction here... The 901 isn't the JS atomizer. It's the same atomizer as is in the Kissbox. I thought that was the 801 but not sure. When I ordered the extra atty it was the 'classic' and said it fit kissbox and the stick.

Ok, thanks kent,

So, that still leaves one question unanswered. The mod and JS types are better simply because the larger battery allows longer life, but does the larger battery give better vapes?

Thanks

Funk

IMO (and this is only regarding the Janty Stick) Yes. I got mine and the wife tried it and had to have one. I demostrated both the 510 and the JS yesterday to a friend and he went for the JS. No consideration on it not 'looking like a cigarette'. I don't want to overdo it because people differ so much in their likes and dislikes, but it's simply a dream to vape with the JS and if you look at some of my other posts you'll see I really like the 510 as well. I still vape both but the JS is pluged into a usb plug by my chair in the living room and I take it with me in the car.

I don't have a mod, but I believe the answer is yes.
Not sure yet what a mod does to the flavor though, if you care about that.
