I'm very new to the diy world, and I have a whole lot to learn. Be patient with me and my silly questions... So I have about 4
120 ml bottles in the freezer 50/50 18 mg. When I want some of the mixture, do I need to let it warm to room temp before mixing with flavors (and assuming I'll want lower nic strength, PG and or VG) Or do I use it straight from freezer, then put bottle back into the freezer.

Thanks for your help.

From what I've read on here, it's best to allow it to reach room temperature before opening the bottle, to avoid condensation in the nic base. Also, when filling bottles that are going in the freezer, fill them almost to the brim, leave maybe 1/4 inch from the top. You want as little air as possible in the bottle, in order to prevent oxidation.

What Pete said. I break my 500ml bottle of Nic up into 60ml amber glass bottles and leave one out to work from and store the rest in the freezer. When it's empty I take another one out and let it come to room temperature before opening to avoid condensation. Good luck! :toast:

Cheers,
Steve

Edit Once I take a bottle out of the freezer, I don't put it back in, I just store it in a cool, dark place. It's my working bottle, I'll use it up in a few months.

thanks Pete and Wingsfan. So, I could take one of the 120 bottles out and just keep in dark pantry I gather. Not particularly cold in there, just room temp. Interior area of home, so it does not get heat from sun hitting on bricks. But it won't get any A/C other then from slot under the door. Not sure what my usage rate will be yet. I'd hazard a guess of several months. I think it might be best to make smaller batches like Wingfan is doing. And I know I screwed up already b/c I left quite a bit of empty space in the bottle. Should I just start over, or are these going to be ok for now?

Better allow your Nic to reach room temp before you mix otherwise your measurements will be off - liquid expands with temp and that affects your nic content.

OK, I'll bite. I use 100mg PG based nicotine kept in the fridge at approx. 35 degrees F. If I pull out 6ml to make a 50ml 12mg juice, how much will that 6ml nicotine expand and what will my final nicotine level be, at room temp of 72 degrees F?

Since you called me mom, I can call you son :) but I didn't mean any disrespect. I work in production and that's how we talk to each other.

I think your answer was quite proper and sound. It's good advice and is the way most of us handle our NIC. Not sure why Rickb119 would be taken back by that. It's pretty common knowledge that liquids expand and shrink with heat and cold and viscosity does change so I don't think it's nessessary to go into the whole science of it.

it's a little nippy in here :(

fwiw...I would wait until it reaches room temp so I could shake it really good to make sure the nic and the carrier were thoroughly mixed.
Would be concerned about possible separation and not having consistency throughout the bottle after freezing.

It doesn't expand by that much, perhaps 1 - 2% if that. Therefore your result shouldn't be drastically different: 12.25 mg instead of your intended 12mg.

I welcome advise. I do however get "taken aback", just a little, when that advise is given with so many personal pronouns in the space of one sentence. Perhaps it's because I see that trait in myself that it offends me so much.

Thank you for a truly "classy" way to give advise.

Whatever dude, but the ECF is probably the wrong place to lay out your psychological issues - unless of course you just quit smoking and suffering from symptoms of withdrawal.
