Hey everyone-

Well, the order sheet is booked through the end of the year - thanks to everyone whom made orders.

I'm going to take a little break from any new orders for 2013 - and resume at the beginning of the new year. I'll still be making existing orders and continue to sell the In Stock holders while I'm on "vacation". Just no new orders until the start of 2014. This will give me a chance to finish up everything for a pre-Christmas delivery, and let me take a break from the aproximately 100+ hours I'm working weekly between my regular job and Absolute-Wood.

Thanks, and have a great and safe Holiday season!

But we can still place new orders this year, right? ;)

If it's an in stock holder, yes. If it's one of the existing designs, yes. When I get my time machine fixed, I'll be able to take orders for 2012 again...

I'll be able to get an In Stock holder mailed no problem (BTW, the Purple Heart with Padauk Stripe, #2, sold), but won't be able to add any more holders to the production schedule this year. I'll have to concentrate and hope no "oops" happens to get everything done and mailed in time. That should let me have some time with my family through New Year's (I've been really absent from inside the house this last year) before I "disappear" to the shop again... Plus, I've pretty much been working 7 days a week for about a year now... up at 5:00am, home at 6:00pm, in the shop till midnight or so during the week, marathon wood chips flying during the weekends! I'm pretty much shutting down from around Dec 15, 2013(when I finish and mail current projects) until Jan 2, 2014.

But due to the amount of time it takes to develop a custom layout, I don't have time on my production schedule to do any drawing until 2014. I did this so I could get as many holders made for Christmas gifts as I could without having to devote time to drawing anything new.

I LOVE creative contests, but this one is really not cool. You know, lots of people make a living out of writing creative copy for businesses. They also get paid way more than $50 for this service.

But hey, it's a free market...

Sheesh... what a way to try and suck the Life out of a Contest!!

Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion.... and it looks like you are fairly new around here, so I guess we can forgive you this time... LOL!!

Win or lose, and whatever the stakes, most of the Members enter contests here just for the Spirit and the Fun of playing. Plus, there are some of us self-proclaimed "Contest Junkies" who are professional Graphic Artists, and don't mind designing a banner for a free bottle of juice!! :D

Nobody is forcing anyone to enter a Contest, and, as they say... If you don't like the terms, don't enter!! ;)

Hey, Rick - nice new avatar. Your guitar - DID YOU MAKE IT? I think I can see some grain in that finish...
If so, how about a close-up?

I'm a fan of good wood in a guitar. I've got one of these.

OH GREAT! Something else I "have to have" and shouldn't be looking at... ;) lol Thanks Buddy!

Seriously, I'm drooling. I've played since I was 10. It's not serious any more, but I still play almost daily. The red "strat" is a Samick that was designed by Valley Arts Guitars. It's not that expensive, but plays really well. My favorite guitar ever was my early SG I had when I was young and played in a band (got stolen), after that I found a '67 Cherry Sunburst Les Paul (Just like Jimmy Pages) in a Pawn Shop that I had for several years. My two favorites from the past.

I've never built one, but have been thinking about it lately. I just bought this piece of Walnut that has really crazy looking grain and some figuring - quite beautiful. I thought: That would look awesome as the face of the body of an SG looking guitar with a through the body neck made of quilted Maple with a triple stripe of Padauk and Purple heart running from the headstock to the .... of the body. I envisioned the body as a lamination of that Walnut as the face and back, with a 1/4 inch thick slab of hard rock maple in the middle (like a sandwich). If I could do it right, it would be a great guitar.

A fellow engineer and woodworker that I work with builds guitars, and I've been thinking about it ever since we met... It may happen! Just not sure how to find the time!

Rick
