eYup. This stuff all runs on magic smoke. If you let it escape, it'll never work right again.

Magic smoke smells like singed hair, burning plastic, and ozone -that's the easiest way to recognize it when you see it. Of course, by then it's faaaar too late.

Unless it's an old-school silicone rectifier. That smells like... nevermind!

Once the magic smoke is out, you have to replace the smoke capsule. Sometimes it takes several. :(

Darn it! I'm all out of smoke capsules, and I didn't think to get any when I placed my order today :pGuess I'm SOL

I don't think I want to know what an old silicon rectifier smells like  I read that statement and got an entirely different (and inappropriate) meaning from it

(I'll just blame my medicine for making me loopy) :w00t:

I suspect you have the right idea. It smells like someone "sliced the curdled dairy product".

Oh, and you're right. It's "silicon", not "silicone". Sometimes my mind doesn't know what my fingers are typing.

Aww, no worries Pawpaw - I didn't even notice :) I understand completely - your brain was moving so fast your fingers just didn't have time to catch up :2cool: Happens to me all the time
