Bought some acetyl pyrazine a few months ago (from a very popular seller) and used it a few times. When I grabbed the bottle the other day I noticed that it looks like it is coagulating in the bottle - lots of clumps/flakes/floaters in the liquid.

I have it stored in my work area in the basement, in a drawer, out of direct light, kind of cool (mid 60's farenheit).

Anyone experience this?

I can't believe it would have soured in such a short time, so I'm wondering if this is normal.

Thanks for the replies.

Somebody at another site told me that it will sometimes do this if cold. It doesn't smell odd, like it's spoiled, so I'm going to warm it a bit and shake the bottle - if it doesn't go perfectly clear again, it's going in the trash.

I hope it works out and yes I've heard of flavors separating out if too cold (I keep mine cold but warm to room temp and shake before using, and haven't had a problem so far. However, since I keep my thermostat at like, 80 in the summer, I don't consider any area of my home a "cool dry environment" so I decided it would need to be the fridge.

I hope it just goes back to its normal state once warm and shaken. Good luck,

Anna

I just popped it in the microwave for literally 3 seconds - it's back to perfectly clear, and smells proper.

Just curious Anna, do you have any AP, and do you keep it in the fridge? Looking at mine at 65 degrees, I'm guessing it would turn to sludge in the fridge.

I have a bottle of AP and don't keep it in the refrigerator, just in a cabinet in an interior room that is unheated with the rest of my flavors. Room temperature in that room is cool around 65 to 70 or below that most of the time as it is generally cool here. The bottle is a year old and still clear.

I don't have any of it, and so I can't really offer a comparison, sorry. If my flavors are separating out, I haven't really noticed it although they're in a box, and I usually wait until room temp to inspect them. It's certainly possible some are getting separated. Next time I mix I will have a look. But so far, from a sort of cursory look just now, I'm not seeing any that look separated.

I keep all my large bottles of flavoring in a small fridge, and yes it turns to an ugly gel. A quick warm up and all is good again, there a several flavorings that do that. I mainly use the fridge for long term storage of 4 oz bottles and a few smaller ones that I don't use too much. :)
