Has anyone contacted the american civil liberties union?

I'm sorry, but I do not personally like those people.

I saw in the news where they were trying to tell illegal mexicans to just ignore the border patrol and that they had the right to do whatever they wanted. There's just so many things that the ACLU does that irks me so badly.

Yeah....everytime I think about the ACLU....well....let's just say the thoughts are never pleasant!!:grr::mad::grr::evil:

However.....this might be the one time where I might be able to stomach the notion of them interfering with our government and society. 8-o:cry::shock:

In my book, the ACLU is just as bad as PETA. I love animals, don't get me wrong, but those people are just horrible with their tactics.

Mac- Is selling e-cigs your only job? I know that it's hard out there, trust me, I'm unemployed as well. (In an area where there aren't any jobs) I wish you the best and please know that there are people to support you out here!

Regarding the ACLU, I'll repost what I posted in the SPEC forum -

ACLU - Represents people who feel that their rights have been violated.
ACLU said:
These rights include:

Your First Amendment rights - freedom of speech, association and assembly; freedom of the press, and freedom of religion.
Your right to equal protection under the law - protection against unlawful discrimination.
Your right to due process - fair treatment by the government whenever the loss of your liberty or property is at stake.
Your right to privacy - freedom from unwarranted government intrusion into your personal and private affairs
I could see due process for vendors (I've decided that I don't like the term "suppliers"... too much like "drug dealer") having their shipments seized, although that's already being fought in the SE/njoy v FDA case. Right to privacy is a bit of a stretch, but could potentially be used, except that if that's the case, why hasn't it been used to defend against the war on drugs?

Yes it is my only job. Before these people hired me I was a telemarketer selling magazine subscriptions over the phone. Man did that suck.

I was initially hired as a salesperson back when the company was selling 20 minute teeth whitening services. Within 2 weeks the company owner came to me and said "I don't like virginia and am moving back to vegas. I am promoting you to manager. It's your baby now. That lasted about 4 months and then the product stopped performing. We saw a 60% drop in business for no apparent reason. Then my boss calls me and says " I have a new product for you to sell. It's an electronic cigarette. Wait till you try one of these things it will blow your mind."
So that was the beginning of january and boy has this product sold. We expanded. I am now in charge of 2 stores. I am making a decent wage for the first time in my life. And now the federal government is trying not only to destroy my livelyhood but also to force me back to my 2 pack a day marlboro habit! I mean what the efff did I ever do to them to make them want to destroy my whole life?? I have lost faith in my country and am completely disgusted.

I've been very anti-government for a long time, but I shall not go into that since it may be against forum rules. ><

But yes, it is sad to think of what the government will do to the people nowadays and act like it's "because they care". No matter how you slice it though, we'll always get through the rough times.

Around 6 years ago I quit drinking cold turkey, after drinking heavily for a long while. We shall overcome.

Our 'rights'...hmm, that is an interesting question really. With our right to privacy, do we have the right to eat sugary or fatty foods? Drink caffine or alcohol? Smoke nicotine? Or for that matter smoke marijuana or snort .......? In theory, they're all bad for us. Where to we draw the line? Does the government have a legitimate role in controling personal behaviors and what we take into our own bodies? Maybe this is a civil liberties issue. I don't know legally, but it sure feels like it to me.

Sorry, but this is ridiculous. So now we are picking the organization that we would consider allowing to help us?

Are you serious?

Please, you must visit me sometimes, Earth can be very nice this time of the year.

We have to be careful about what type of groups we associate with. As you can tell, a lot of people have bad views on the ACLU and other types of groups. We can't just ask any group to help us, you know. I don't want anywhere near any groups like PETA, ACLU, Black Panthers, or the KKK. Any group that has "iffy ideas" or is a radical type group cannot really help us.

Unfortunately if it doesn't have anything to do with guns or illegal immigrants, they probably wouldn't be interested.

You don't have to like the ACLU to understand they are necessary. Without them, many rights (even those you don't agree with) would be permanently lost. Freedom is a messy process.

Think about it. What applies to rights for smokers will no doubt apply to e smokers.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has strongly supported "smokers' rights" legislation. According to ACLU's National Taskforce on Civil Liberties In The Workplace, any company that refuses to hire people who use tobacco in their own homes, or that fires employees who don't quit smoking is trampling on the rights of these persons. That is precisely the view espoused by the Tobacco Institute, Washington, D.C., says spokesperson Brennan Dawson.

"When most Americans report for work, are they supposed to have left their constitutional rights behind?" charges Lewis Maltby, director of the ACLU Taskforce.

ACLU contends that more employers are broadening their sphere of control to include what employees do in their own homes--and smoking is only one example. In a report earlier this year entitled "A State of Emergency in the American Workplace," ACLU states: "If the premises behind such policies are allowed to stand, employers who are motivated primarily by a desire to reduce their health care costs may well use similar means to seek control over all health-related aspects of their employees' home lives--which could include diet, weight, exercise, sleep habits and drinking practices.

"As the data mount concerning the health care cost implications of lifestyle choices, employers will have an economic incentive to try to dominate their employees' lives totally."

I do hope you are aware that the ACLU defended druggy Limbaugh when the government was trying to get at his medical records

American Civil Liberties Union : ACLU Asks Court to Protect Confidentiality of Rush Limbaugh's Medical Records

So according to your view the constitution is an iffy radical idea, and you place the ACLU on the same level as the KKK. How far afield can some conservatives stray before they fall off the flat earth.
