Hey guys, so I recently whacked some of my 100% VG juice onto my RDA to start vaping and did a few presses of the fire button to see if it was vaporizing evenly. When I did, I noticed that my juice is bubbling as if it were boiling, now, I've been reading about acrolein from decomposition of VG and it begins decomposing into acrolein before its boiling point. I'm just curious as to whether it's actually boiling or if it's just a process of the vaporization of the juice - Anyone care to give me some insight?
Cheers.

Yeah, it's probably boiling on the coil. But.. It's doing so at a substantially lower temperature than pure VG would. There's no such thing as 100% VG in the real world. You see VG is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs water from the air. So while the boiling point of pure VG is 290°C, even a tiny bit of water drops that boiling point a lot. Just 1% water brings it down to 239°C.

So any worries you might have can easily be mitigated by adding a drop or two of water to your "100% VG juice". :)

When people say to use 'Distilled Water' is this defined as any bottled water that says 'Distilled'? Or does it have to be legit 100% purified distilled deionised and everything?

Distilled is fine. (I actually usually use tap water, which is pretty good here, although I don't use much of it at all).

Don't know how it is in the UK, but you can get a gallon of distilled water over here for less than $3.

I think my local pharmacy sells distilled water. I have 1L of 99% VG, is it worth putting 1% of distilled water into the litre bottle of VG or is it better just adding the water into my juices when I make them?

All you need to do is leave the cover off of your VG for a couple of hours! VG is an alcohol; it will pull water right out of the air.

And while mineral buildup might be a concern, in the very small amounts I use it, it really doesn't make any difference. (Also, as I said, our tap water locally is actually very good, with a very low mineral content compared to some other places I've lived).

you need to basically burn the VG to create acrolien.... the vapor should go from white to brown... the brown indicates the breakdown of the VG... next time you need to change out a wick, pull the wick and dry burn the gunk and watch the vapor color change... when it goes dark take a small wiff of it and experience the nastyness.... :)
