I vape in "no smoking" public venues quite often ... And I have never been questioned. And that surprises me.

Whenever I'm in the grocery store, I've got my Pen in hand and vape throughout the journey ... every time. No one has ever said ... "Hey, you can't do that."

Gas Stations ... At the pump & in the convenience store ... I vape throughout. Other than cashiers being intrigued, no one has said a word.

Wither I go, so goes my e-cig. And so far (knock on wood) No problems. And I think that's cool.

Unfamiliarity and common decency seem to be a general rule when it comes to e-cigs. Most people will not interfere with what you are doing unless they see it as a significant threat to their lives. An unknown thing like e-cigs leaves the ininformed clueless as what to do or not do. So, common courtesy is to let the incident happen because they do not know what you are doing.

While pushing the barriers, it is important that each of us properly explain what we are doing when questionsd arise. No need to be militant, just relate the facts as they pertsain to you. Do not, though, make heath claims that cannot be substantiated.

Yea if you aren't in a position where you would normally talk to the person such as the cashier people will generally keep to themselves unless they are truly offended or at least that's what I found...

I don't believe that vaping and smoking are equivalent, and I think that the public really needs to be educated about that. I feel very strongly that the witchhunt against smokers should NOT be allowed to be seamlessly transferred to vapers simply because someone doesn't approve of seeing someone with smoke/vapor coming out of their mouth. It's nobody's business and I think that the general nonsmoking public has lost sight of that fact in their zeal to police behaviors. It really pisses me off.

However, why would anyone feel the need to vape in the supermarket, at the bank, at a gas station, etc.? Did you actually smoke in those places, back in the day when it was ok to smoke just about everywhere?

I can honestly say that it never would have crossed my mind to smoke in those places even when I could. If you can't buy groceries without smoking or vaping, you really do have a problem that's unrelated to an addiction to nicotine. Just my opinion, for what it's worth.

You've got a very valid point. When smoking was no longer legal in restaurants, my solution was to smoke before I got to the restaurant and smoke when I left. No hurt feelings. I think it's the social aspect of smoking at a restaurant with friends (with or without alcohol) that is missed the most.

That said, I was vaping in Walmart today. For some stupid reason I didn't vape on the way there. Don't know why. Driving and vaping is my new love in life! I was in there about two hours and half way through I was dying for a vape. I had cinnamon in my pocket and it was talking to me. So, I just did a casual stealth vape. Hold the vapor in your lungs and count to 10. No one was offended. No one saw any vapor. And I got my cinnamon on.

In Florida you can still smoke at outside tables in restaurants, so I wouldn't hesitate to vape there. Inside, I'd probably do the stealth thing just because I'd want to enjoy my after-dinner coffee.
