The subject of the advertisements that I'm seeing has recently changed quite extremely....has there been some sort of legislation or guidance that has triggered a switch from vaping related stuff to marijuana growing and passing drug tests and bongs? Just curious I'm not critical I mean I appreciate advertising dollars help a forum like this be free to those who want to use it as such and if I don't want to see ads I can simply pay to not see them. I'm just wondering why there seems to be a switch or if I just didn't notice before

Just a guess, but vape companies are probably worried about lawsuits regarding their advertising.... MJ is now more acceptable than vaping... who would have ever imagined that happening?
You know I didn't think about it from the company's perspective I thought about it only from a forum perspective. That could very well be it. I honestly always thought that advertisement in general areas like on the radio or television or magazines that aren't related to smoking or vaping was kind of a little bit crazy. Now on a forum related to vaping I don't think so but I don't agree with opening of Google searching cats and having a Blu E-cig ad but mainly for a self-preservation Viewpoint knowing that that's going to cause problems rather than a moralistic one because honestly the more people that Vape the less people that smoke

If you're talking in regards to ads on this forum, most of the time they are related, at times loosely, to your browsing history. So if you happen to frequent a thread or websites that deal with pets, then you might get hit with advertisements related to vet medicine. In regards to vaping, you may see a Blu ad, or even a CBD ad as it often can be tied directly to the content you view on here.

I agree... it's almost scary sometimes. I'm using someone else's computer and they don't want adblock and even let the browser store passwords and stuff... on my laptop I'm just the opposite! My old laptop is slow and the battery doesn't last long so I use this one a lot for forums and looking up info... keep telling 80 year old mom she is a fool but she won't listen.

See my post above? It was a test post. I wasn't able to post to this thread unless I turned off my ad locker. It's the only thread that has been doing this since this thread was started.

Talk about strange.

Anyway, before I turn my adblocker back on, I just wanted to say...

I see the ad blocker crowd heading around the corner now.

I use the AdBlock Plus plugin for both FF and Chrome and I never see any ads on this forum. :p

:D

Figured out why I can't post to this thread with my ad blocker on. It's because the title of this thread is "advertising" and probably even because the word "advertisement" is used in the thread.

This is the first time I've ever experienced anything negative with my ad blocker in the years I've been using it.

Carry on [turns ad blocker back on]

We would love to serve only ads for nicotine vaping but basically nobody at all in the nicotine vaping industry wants to advertise any more, which tells you a lot about their confidence in still being in business in the near future.

So we have to use 3rd party networks to serve that ads, and guess what, because we're a vaping site we're banned from using most of them, so we can't just serve google ads for example. So we have to make do with what we can get access to right now, but we are looking at trying to convince some vaping companies that they should be investing in the future, believe me!

I don't think this forum's advertising is based on browsing history like a Google Adsense ad would be. They are ALL either vaping or MJ related. I have not seen anything like ads for kitchen faucets, etc.. lol And Google Adsense would not be allowed on this site.

EDIT: NM on some of that, I see @low_tar_neil already mentioned Google Ads.

Ahh..thanks for clarification. Its sad though that this is the way it is for such a helpful site. I am glad that you were able to get some advertisers as the cost to maintain a large forum must be daunting!
