Totally leak-proof would be nice but I fear it's a logical impossibility. To produce vapor at the drip tip for us to enjoy, the eliquid has to be vaporized and air passed over the heating element.
This requires an opening for air that is both open to the outside and also open to the coil / eliquid reservoir. If the eliquid has any path to the outside, it's a path that will allow it to leak (some more than others).
TC is the next big thing, and as it becomes more stable would seem to be poised to take over the APV market. When working correctly it eliminates dry hits and burning eliquid. It works well with most toppers and automatically adjusts for variances in eliquid flow / wicking or airflow.
I've built a Ni200 coil with rayon for one of my old Vision Vivi-Nova tanks, works perfectly. Dry hits are impossible, top coil gives a nice warm vape without high temperature at the coil, and the eliquid never burns. The top complaints with the Vivi are totally controlled.
