I'm using adblock on google chrome and can see ads are running on ECF because of a notification by adblock but I never allow the ad

Wondering if this means you are missing out on potential revenue from the ad or if its only based on clicks, not views.

May be good to know for other members also using ad blocking software who might disable it on ECF if it means you can keep it up and running for another day or so

I'm a contributing member so I am already helping out but would be happy to assist further if possible

I actually have Adblock disabled for ECF's domain because it was blocking non-ad images posted in the forum. Since disabling it, I have not seen a single ad on the forum, the only blockable objects have been hotlinked images in posts and signatures :2c: I think there are ads on the forum pages when you aren't logged in, though

It's not something we worry about: there are probably more than 15,000 new visitors a day (yes, each day) who have never been here before and who are looking for tips on what to buy. The ads are mainly targeted at them as most do not become members - they get what they need and move on. In fact we (all of us together) provide a good service in that respect as a newcomer to vaping can come here, see some ads from vendors with a decent rep, read some advice that is not biased, and move on, if that's what they feel like doing. Some stick, most don't, and in general we have helped each other.

Some usergroups see the ads here, some don't (a usergroup is the membership group that you are allocated to by the software, mainly as a result of 'time served' and/or number of posts - so the longer you have been a member and the more you have posted then the less likely you are to see any ads).

For example Veterans (1 year + 75 posts) don't see ads. Also Subscribers ($24/year) don't see ads. Details can change from time to time. For those of us who have been here a long time, new ads can be interesting to look at occasionally: log out and come back as a Guest, or use a different browser.

Thank you for asking.

Yes, the regular banner ads at the top. Also some pages have an ad after the first post.

We don't like Flash ads here and even have a rule about moving images, which are best avoided but if insisted on need to be easy on the eye. ECF's general policy is to be 'safe and reliable' and that applies to ads as well.
