Hi All

I have just placed an order for 32OZ (litre) of Capella Custard (V2) and also 16OZ of TPA Dulce De Leche flavor concentrates.

Please does anyone know what is the best way to store these long term, to keep them fresh and from going off???

They will come in plastic bottles, and I wonder if the best method would be to keep them in these plastic bottles, and then store in the fridge...or some other method? Glass bottles - or is that not really necessary?

Thanks in advance.

Freezer or Refrigerator. Heat, light and air are the enemy of most flavors and nicotine. Thankfully PG and VG don't freeze into a block so glass bottles will not break. Also if you have a boat load of VG may want to freeze that to just remember to thaw it out when you need it as it gets as think as Molasses on a winter day.

The refrigerator is about as extreme as I'd go for storing flavors. My mom never refrigerated her vanilla extract so I just keep mine in a cool dark place and it's worked fairly well to date. I wouldn't freeze them as some are diluted with water and I'd think the crystals formed would separate the flavors from the liquid or cause freezer burn. I'm sure someone with more experience in freezing flavors will be along to help. Happy DIY'ing!

If I did choose to freeze I'd use glass bottles. Plastic should be fine for refrigeration or the other method I mentioned.

I wouldn't freeze flavorings. Store in a cool dark place. I've had flavorings now for almost 2 years that are still tasting fine stored in a cool dark place. I haven't seen to much said about storing in a refridgerator so it would be interesting to here from folks that do so.

I've had some of my flavors for 2+ years and the only ones that changed dramatically were Capella. I had to toss out all of them that were over 6 months old. Maybe it was the plastic? The ones in glass vials are still good. I keep mine stored at room temperature out of direct light. I think I remember someone posting that flavors should not be refrigerated due to condensation (if my memory isn't playing tricks on me, lol) My advice, since you've ordered a large volume would be transferring them to glass containers, unless you plan on using that much within 6 months. JMO based on my experience with Cap's flavors in plastic bottles.
