You do realize that we're not saying the eGo is wrong for YOU... we're saying it's not the item to suggest when somebody is asking for an analog look-alike...

I just traded most of my 510 stuff to people that were downsizing... I took 14500 batteries and CR123s in trade for the stuff... This person was sent on a wild goose chase for big bat stuff only to realize she preferred the 510 for her needs... it just happened today, so remember, what is right for YOUR use is quite possibly not optimum for somebody else.

And again, the thread isn't about bashing eGo types... it's about helping noobs to get to their own level.

This idea seems to be lost on the eGo owners, because win lose or draw, you guys seem to have blinders on regarding virtually all other PVs...

You guys really gotta try a big ol 18650 mod before you convince others that the eGo is the "end all" universally accepted "best vape".

Holly hell!!! LMAO!!! Don't drag me into this! I was simply trying to inject a little humor and complement all of you (including you Zen) for the laughs. You all had me rolling on some of those post. As someone else already pointed out to you, my post was NOT to be taken seriously. Hell... even my wife doesn't take me seriously. lol

Oh... And to answer your general question and to let ya know I don't have "blinders on" I do own and use a Big ol 18650 SB along with a 510 PT. And just to make you feel better I'll let you know that I sorta LIED in my earlier post when I said I was just sitting there vappin my Ego.
I was actually vapping my Ego with a 3ohm E2
AND my PT with a 3ohm syringe E2 mod
AND my SB 3 ohm E2!!!
Gots me a different flavor in each one! So... life is good! Till I need to stand up at least.

Hey! I got an idea!! Let's rank everyones expert level by the amount of $$ they have shelled out for all their PV supplies! I'm in for over $1300 in my first 2 months so far! That should get me out of the noob level at least. lol yeah... I didn't think so but what the hell.... I tried! :)

LOL... I understand you completely, and it's all good...

And I'm here vaping a Protoge' a Mini Vape Stack, a 5V Pass through and a 14500 flashlight mod... three of em with CE2 syringe mods (why does that work so well?) and one with a 1.8 ohm 510 carto...

Where's the eGo? It's in the car, fully charged with a carto and a bottle of juice, just in case I leave the house without a PV. Some people carry first aid kits and jumper cables... We are ALL sick individuals...

And as far as how much money spent... you and I are BOTH out of our minds... but we're pretty closed to tied in "experience" if that becomes the crtieria.

Ah, I'm not sure...

Will it fit in my shirt pocket without looking stupid?

I need an eGo4.
I want the one with the bigger em-Ah-ss
Can you waive the charger fee?
Does it come with a case?
I also need you to hook up my bluetooth to it.

Except that in your response there's a lot of things said that aren't entirely on the money..

Value wise, the eGo is FAR more expensive to own than a 14500 mod... Compare the price of a replacement battery to that of a 14500 protected...

The eGo is not the best choice for LR atty/cartos because the mosfet switch can't handle the current required. MANY eGo batteries and similar fail due to the use of LR. There's a whole thread about that in the MadVapes forum area.

And yes, the eGo is a big 510, and sure it's smaller and lighter than a V3... but compare the eGo to say, an Icon... or a Protoge if you're lucky enough to find one used...

And seriously, a Box Mod for 20 bucks... talk about value.

But your last statement... "While it probably shouldn't be built up to the level it is, it also shouldn't be discounted." is pretty much true... it should be held in proper regard... not hyped... it's NOT the end all for ALL people, and in reality, it's not the end-all for MOST people.

Now, on topic...

Should people that are actively seeking a cig-a-like be pounced on by the eGo-maniacs who strongly suggest they will be making an earth shattering mistake if they buy ANYTHING but an eGo?

Absolutely not! They are not ASKING for anything that even resembles an eGo, and even if they were, the eGo wouldn't be the ONLY PV to consider when looking for a bigger battery... far from it!

I've read and read about problems with ego's and the mosfets. Most of what I have seen has actually been problems with the ego clones like the Riva and mosfets. I have not had any problems nor has my mother, which is the extent of my first hand knowledge of ego's with LR. Maybe we are getting lucky, maybe the Ego is built better, or maybe (probably) it's because I'm using 2.0 LR, not 1.8. At any rate, it's working great for me.

I've actually thought about getting an icon. It's still going to be heavier than my ego and the finish is still going to stand out more, which many people do not want. You can't really choose your color with it either. I was going to get my mom one, but she is so completely happy with her 900 mAh ego that she wouldn't touch it if I got it. Box mods are just ugly.

The ego is what it is, and that is a great starter kit for newbies and experienced users alike. Obviously it's not for everybody, and I don't blindly recommend it to everybody without regard to what they want or need, but I do understand why people are so happy with them. Some people like the fact that they can use their ego until the battery (or switch) dies and buy a new battery. They don't have to worry about cleaning the switch and applying noalox like I do on my V3 and you would on the Icon. They don't have to worry about springs/washers/etc. The ego fits the bill for many, many people and it will fit the bill for many of those that say they want a cig sized PV.

Some of us have seen too many people try an inferior product and give up. I picked up a couple of ego kits from Liberty-flights with their sale just for people around here. I can't tell you how many people I have had say they know someone that tried e-cigs but they didn't get enough nicotine or the battery life was too frustrating they they gave up. Good juice, maybe an LR atty or carto, and something like the Ego fixes that. I know a lot more people willing to pick up and try an ego than I do people willing to use a box mod. Mods still have a higher start up costs as well. I can purchase 2-3 ego kits for the price it would take me to get rolling with an Icon.

Oh God, lets please not do that. I don't think I'm that much of an expert and I really, really don't want to have to do the math. I quit counting after I realized I had spent over $1200 in my first 2 weeks of vaping, mostly on hardware just to try everything out.

Yeah, I'm a guy that likes to try things first hand... I'm not kidding that I have had 60 PVs so far and several on the way. I enjoy that aspect of vaping, and I have tried so many things that outperform the eGo and and very modest cost as well, that I simply don't get all the eGo HYPE... the only PV that anybody ever INSISTED that I tried... was the eGo, and the eGo, in my opinion is not worth the hype, or the money. I tried it... I didn't feel is was any better of a vape than a 510... it just lasted longer on a charge. I am absolutely concerned with charge time, but I want more vapor too! EVERYBODY wants more vapor... I think.

But tying this back to the OP... we shouldn't be telling people this little PV is the end-all... it's not even close.

I've read and read about problems with ego's and the mosfets. Most of what I have seen has actually been problems with the ego clones like the Riva and mosfets. I have not had any problems nor has my mother, which is the extent of my first hand knowledge of ego's with LR. And I have never personally zapped an eGo battery... but I have toasted the mosfet board on a 510, and it's the same board as is in the eGo from what I understand. It may not have happened to you, and it may be more than just luck... But I couldn't say for sure if or when yours will fail, nor could I say it won't...

And again... is the eGo the right thing to tell a person looking for a super mini to buy? They are on this forum, the eGo is not a secret... it's all over the place... the noobs can see it in thread after thread, and at supplier after supplier... many of them KNOW it exists, and they don't want the look, feel or comittment... They just want a tasty little vape that will satisfy the urge to have a little nicotine seething though their veins... and we can tellt hem which cig-a-like PV is best for them, without jumping on the eGo magic pill bandwagon.

The OP is all about that... why can't we just LISTEN to the person asking the question instead of assuming they will ONLY be happy with an eGo.

I feel it is irresponsible mentoring to completely disregard what a person wants simply because in our own experience it isn't OUR best choice... I'm not telling noobs to buy Icons, I'm telling them the most factual answer to their question I can muster.

At 60 pv's and counting, I'd call you a pv ninja. I've tried a few but once I found something that worked I quit looking. Other than my Kaji, because I found it on the classifieds on ecf and couldn't resist.

lots of posts in this thread...

I just want to chime in here with my experiences and offer some thanks.

I'm pretty new to vaping and started out with an eGo based largely on advice I got here on ECF. Before finding ECF, I was looking at getting a blu or a Greensmoke. After doing about a week of reading here, I was convinced that would be a bad idea and was looking more at a 510 or a KR 808. But, since having a PV that looked very much like an analog wasn't a priority for me, I took the advice I was given and skipped the often quickly upgraded kit and went straight to an eGo.

It has served me VERY well. I originally thought I would use the PV as a means to cut down. But, I pretty much quit once I started using the eGo.

So, although I agree that there is no "best" PV nor is the eGo the "best" starter kit, I am grateful for all the help I received here suggesting my eGo. It was not what I thought I wanted because I didn't really know what I wanted nor did I know what was available. So thanks ECF!
