We shouldn't be making generalizations that noobs want to skip a process because we are all different and will find satisfaction in different models.
Agreed 100% sorta. lol
What I think everyone is missing here is the big picture and that these "noobs" (even though most of them have smoked longer than most of the "experts" in here have been alive) have knowingly come into this forum that is frequented by thousands of people from around the planet to ask for advise. A fair guess is that most of these "noobs" know how to make educated decisions based on the facts and recommendations they are given.
I know when I first started lurking in here I was simply overwhelmed by the 30 trillion different e-cig's and all there options. It was actually so over the top information wise I almost said screw it and was going to walk away and keep smoking the stinky sticks. I'm glad I didn't BTW.
This is how e-cigs evolved in my life. My brother bought a $150 Green Smoke kit way back in the spring of this year. He showed it to me and let me use it for a few days but I really didn't care for it but several weeks after taking one of his Green Smoke home to show my wife she asked me about it again and said she'd like to try using these things to help her quit. Sooooo the journey began. I read and read and read as much info as I could find on the net and found the Blu and thought hell for that price compared to the Green Smoke we just had to give it a try so I bought a Blu start up kit for her and she loved it. So then after 2 or 3 weeks of watching her and seeing some of the issues with it I figured it was time for me to take the plunge. I had now seen the Green Smoke and the Blu but I thought it would be wise to research even more and that's when I found ECF. OMG!!! I spent days and days reading and lurking. My head literally hurt! This is when I almost gave up and walked away but I stuck with it and pulled the trigger on a Joye 510 kit based on everything I was reading on here. The day I got it in the mail was when my wife tried it and said OMG!!! Thus I lost my first e-cig to her instantly. It blew her Blu out of the water in every way. I ordered her a pink 510 kit that night and a week later I had mine back and we were finally on our happy e-cig way. However I still felt I was missing something so I bought a SB with some LR atties. It scared the chit out of the wife when she saw it. lol (Not for her)
Even though she was VERY happy and content I snagged an Ego on sale for her to kinda let her have a mini SB experience like I was enjoying. (Read longer battery life and better vape) Once I saw her Ego I just HAD to have one of those awesome little critters because it filled the gap I had between my very portable but lacking 510 and my monster sledge hammer SB.
The Ego IMHO was the perfect blend of both worlds FOR ME. Is it right for everyone? Hell no! But I would guess it would be for at least 50% of the folks. Does that mean anyone should push it onto any noob? Hell no!
So... With ALL that said. lol
I don't recommend ANYTHING to "noobs" here on ECF (except for once). But I WILL share my advise based on my limited experience. My advise to noobs (depending on there criteria) is simple.
You want something close the the size/look of an analog? Get a 510 starter kit
You want suggestions for a solid no BS PV that fits in your pocket and has decent battery life? Get an Ego
You like tinkering and want a new hobby? Then dive in and buy as many Top loading/ Side loading / Hydromatic systematic / Greased lightning SB / Buzz / mods as you can afford. And don't forget to pick up some PTB while your out.
IMHO the bottom line is this. The more VARIED responses and recommendations these "Noobs" get the better equipped with knowledge they are to start off with the right PV for their needs. Think back to when you first found ECF folks. Well except back in the rotary dial days of you really old timers. lol This place is overwhelming and to just cut to the chase IS what most of these "noobs" are looking for. Don't ram YOUR perfect PV in their face. Just share you personal experiences.
