Advice please

Hello Guys and Gals,
Just got 3 LG HG2's delivered. Problem is that they were all only showing 22% charged.
This seems low to me. I'm sure that they would never ship from the factory this low.
Am I right to be concerned about these batteries?
They were sold as new from an on-line store.
Also, the black id stamp has been worn off. (serial number)
Any input on this would be great, thanks in advance.

Hi mate,
Who was the vendor?
Did you get a voltage reading from the batteries? % is not voltage.

It looks like they spelled "integrator" correctly. (check with Mr. Mooch for more details)
If I have trust in the vendor, I would say "genuine" and vape on.

Just checked, 3.5 volts.

The cells we use are stored near nominal voltage (3.7v).
Receiving them at 3.5v wouldn't worry me at all.

How would a new battery have been handled enough to wear off any markings.

The "risky" part is if it's a fake, as you might not know what actual capacity you have.

Can you identify the fake LG HG2 18650 Battery?

But, that said, depending on a few factors, batteries can discharge over time. Normally they should be at 70% when sent out, but possibly the store tested them out, used them a bit or so on.

If you see any sort of wear on them, it would be a clue.

If it's a fake, the easiest "give away" will be the insulating ring's colour and texture if you know what to look for.

3.5 V is just about the way I receive all my Samsung batteries from IMR or Illum. That's not an issue at all, and is done to improve shelf life for a Li battery stored for an extended period like a vendor's stock.

I could be wrong because a) I don't use these as much as other batteries and b) it could be a legitimate with a rewrap, but I have never once seen that precise caution print on an HG2.

But again, that doesn't necessarily point to it being fake, though it sure stuck out to me.

I hadn't seen it before either until i got a couple from Vapenw a while back,so i had to look at some others i have,and the others had it too,but the silver sticker they put on to say what it is,was stuck over that caution part.

I first saw that warning about 3 to 4 months ago on LG batteries from Liion's which would lead me to guess these are genuine and not old.

ed: That's kind of interesting though @Smoke_too_much, because I DID get a pair a couple of months ago from Liion that don't have this warning. Not that I'm concerned, but I guess at the time they were still getting a mix or whatever.

I haven't either, but I don't use these anymore... The main reason being I've seen a LOT of fake HG2's. Anybody know where the OP got them?

Let me start by saying a big thank you for the replies here.

My mind is at ease now about the HG2’s.

After reading the article about the fakes, I’m sure that they are genuine.

The voltage question was also answered.

No worries there.

The vendor is in Korea.

They all charged up fine, no heat issues.

Next time go with the 30q, it's a slightly better battery with a much lower chance of being a fake.
