Advice with 510 Modding

Well, maybe its my imagination, but i actually get more vapor with a fully charged battery than with a homemade 5V (well, 5.2V) USB passthrough. I have an assortment of rectifier diodes to try and bring that total down to around 4.0~4.2V. I used 2 IN4004 diodes wired in series, and this only brought the voltage down to about 4.4V. I haven't tried the 510 w/ the diodes wired in, but i have tried the M201 with and without the diodes, and am seeing better performance with the voltage drop, in terms of vapor production.

I've seen the same results (decreased vapor production, and without the diodes) with the new 401 atties as well as the M201. I'm actually starting to think that the M series atomizers are optimized for the lower voltage that a battery provides. OTOH, i have an old 2 hole Intellicig branded atomizer that ROCKS with 5V...(the vapor rivals my M201 with a fresh battery). With a freshly charged battery, on the same atty, i get good throat hit, but minimal vapor (a few wisps). Thus i *think* the new designs dont like higher voltages....This is one thing that I'm worried about with the Prodigy (and the only thing stopping me from ordering one). The M401 is/was (the 510 is quickly taking over) my staple vape, and as such i have about 18 atties for it. I may still order one, asking steve to keep the original config (3.7/6V depending on cell used) but will probably wait until reviews of the 401 5V config comes out.

    Thanks for that. I think it's time to dig out a variable voltage dc power supply.. :)
