I have the following statement

I've been told I need to use the word then instead of than, but my gut feeling says that than is fine.

My argument is that I've stated the conditional time and the use of than is not in time sequence but describes that I understand the situation. Opinions appreciated.

If the requested information or documents are on file please send immediately. If you need to contact the Manufacturer than I understand that will take time. Please inform me of any delays, or if you cannot complete request by the end of the day on txyzxyzyzxyxyxy .
