Hey guys and gals. I'm dealing with an issue with both of my aerotanks since new....I will hit it at 11 watts and about 3 hits in it is burnt and kills my throat. ..if I drop down to about 7 to 8 watts I get maybe 5 hots and done. .fill let it sit for about an hour and good flavor again for the few hits till its burnt again...i have replaced the coil heads and even re wicked a brand new coil head with koh gen do and still no luck...every other tank works great, but these aerotanks are killing me...I love the design and look but useless if I can only get a few hits out of them per hour...any help would be great. (And I did prime every coil head properly as well) thank you...and if my Grammer sucks, I'm sorry. On my phone haha

I haven't got any personal experience with the Aerotanks, so pardon the very generalized suggestion. How thick is your juice? Perhaps you just need to thin it out a bit or switch to a thinner consistency juice for that particular piece of hardware.

Is the AFC wide open? You may try closing it a bit. You should feel some resistance when taking a hit. Reistance when drawing means that you're creating a proper vacuum, which is necessary to pull liquid from the tank into the coil itself.

Thinning the liquid may help. So might using less cotton when rewicking.

where are you getting your coils from? I use the V2, mega, and turbo, if I get a burnt hit, it is usually the coil or liquid is too thick, certain companies juice seems to do that regardless of viscosity, maybe additives in the juice not sure, however, I almost always close the air flow and dry hit my tanks before using them, that usually avoids any burnt taste unless the coil is bad. I also went through a period of keeping my tank and battery in my pocket and not shutting the batter off, well going from 7w to 17 watts and having it fire in my pocket when I walked seem to burn the coil out quickly , lesson learned

I have given up on the stock coils. With some practice I have learned how to rebuild Protank heads. A micro coil threaded with a little Japanese cotton. World of difference!

I haven't given up on mine--I love to have replaceable, premade coils always on the ready. They work as they should and are very convenient.

But I agree with you that properly rebuilt coil makes a big difference.

I'm going to buy some 32 gauge kanthal and rebuild them because I tried everything today and at 9 watts and 3 hits it burnt. I love the design of the tank so I'm ganna to make a new coil in it and cross my fingers....I'll keep ya guys updated. Thank yoy for the help so far

I use 30 awg kanthal. And 29. And while you wait for your kanthal to arrive, read this thread--it changed the way I vape. Tell Mac that Katya sent you. :)

And if you're having problems with your Kanger coils, maybe this will help:

Good luck!

9W is pretty much my upper limit depending on the juice in my EMOW's . I can rarely get it above there before it tastes burnt. But it's okay, I get enough vapor that it doesn't really matter to me. I've tried a few times to rebuild the coils for both that and the protanks, but I keep screwing it up so I need to do more learning. I have been able to at least rewick the existing coils with organic cotton instead of the default silica. And even that makes a difference.
