Hello Everyone!

To cut long story short, I have spent last 2 months trying to figure out this vaping thing. Overall, I LOVE vaping and quit analogs on same day I bought my first e-cig alike kit from a local grocery store (that one tasted NASTY!!! A mix of burnt plastic and rubber tires but I still kept going and quickly moved to eGo + clearomizers).

I have tried clearomizers, including Protank 2 and simply couldn't get it working for me correctly on Provari (Protank mini on Provari gave better results but still - I had wicking problems all the time).

And them, yesterday I received my first shipment of Boge cartomizers (LR, XXL) - OHHH BOY!!! Do these things vape GREAT! The clouds are big, the flavour is spot on every time - I really didn't know that these provide a better vape than protanks (way overrated in my opinion).

So, I'm 2nd day on Boge cartomizer and I love it. I don't need anything else, really...apart from the filling issue of course.

I like these cartomizers but obviously, would prefer a tanked version so I don't have to top it up every few hours.

But I'm so scared of buying stuff that won't work, just like with protanks. I'm reading forums and see countless posts where people are having problems with carto tanks - leakage, not enough wicking (not again?) and so on.

Money is not an issue - I'm happy to buy best set-up out there BUT the question is - will it be as hassle free as with stand alone cartomizers?

I just want something that works, works constantly without having to worry all day about equipment and re-fills.

from what I see, most "pros" on ECF use carto tanks so there must be something good about them.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Andy

P.S. Another happy moment happened to me last week - I FINALLY found my all day juice! I tried dozens of different flavours until found my all time fav which is - CAPPUCCINO from Vaperrite (I dilute it with my own DIY plain juice to reduce flavour intensity and really love this juice @ 50/50 PG/VG).

Hi Andy,

I'm moving in the opposite direction, I've been using dual coil tanks (just the regular plastic ones with a dual coil carto in them) and would like to move to Novas and ProTank 2s for ease of use in refilling and rebuilding coils (cartos are not cheap) but they do last a while - up to 2 weeks. However, it's a pain to set them up, sometimes they could be duds - they just burn the juice, or they start flooding right away, but in general, they've been pretty good. I have not used any other tanks except for the ones that I mentioned, but I have seen people say good things about Phiniac tanks, these are pyrex/glass tanks used with cartos. I'm sure that other people here will be able to offer you advice on many others.

Cheers,
Kevin

I used carto tanks when I first started vaping, they're pretty easy once you get filling them down.

A carto tank is just a carto with holes in the side and a tank that goes around it. It won't be much harder to fill than a regular carto. Check out youtube, there's plenty of vids on how to fill a carto tank.

Check out ibtanked, they're well regarded for their tanks.

I love carto tanks and use them all the time. Basically the tank is just a tube, so the performance is due to the carto.

ETA: I guess I didn't really answer your question. The biggest problem people have with carto tanks is not knowing how to prime a carto correctly. Since you are using a cart by itself, you obviously know how to do this. All you would need to do is put it in a tank. Boge now sells pre-punched cartos (it does have to be punched to use in a tank), which I recommend trying before getting into punching you own (if you even plan to). It would make testing the waters less expensive and less hassle. I strongly suggest a good quality tank, with interchangeable top and bottom caps (instead of caps where the bottom has a groove for the carto flange to fit into).

Thanks for all replies so far.

I have ordered some Mega dual coal cartomizers - if they last me all day without a re-fill, I won't even consider carto tanks, lol

I vape just 2-3ml a day so hopefully that can be achieved by using one fully filled mega dual coal cartomizer.

Cartomizers on it's own seem the only hassle free way of vaping - at the moment at least.

If you're thinking of getting a carto/tank setup start with a good one, not one of the $5.00 models... Here's a good link for a quality tank with side-fill that makes filling it a breeze... eCig Carto Tanks - Crazy Vapes You can also check out IBTanked - Get Tanked With Us! or The Phiniac Tank - Phiniac Rugged Pyrex Glass Tanks for tanks, but neither of them (as far as I can tell) offer the 'side-fill' option...

Also, IMO, go with Boge 'slotted' cartos, not the hole drilled ones... I've tried both and, regardless of the negative feedback I've seen on the slotted ones, I've had no probs with them at all and they vape like the dickens... No flooding or dry hits ever! And, whatever you do, stay away from punching additional holes in your cartos -- just adds more probs in seating the carto in the tank etc...
