You sure you're NOT drinking the VODKA first? That's all I have here so far, still, waiting, waiting.... but the vodka has no metallic taste, thank goodness!

. I left them soaking (to try to clean up the atties if this was the problem)... just tried them and I'm still getting unpleasant metallic taste.. I was going to ask you, whether you'd got your GG and how you were getting along with vaping after ALL your research?

So far all I have to keep me company, is the VODKA, nice to know it's a decent solvent!
I purchased all the goodies through Rob at VK, last week, so hopefully I won't miss a GGTS on his first delivery. Got the 3 types of atties, and the 4 types of carts, the juice, etc. I'll probably choke to death the first time, but as a smoker I'm hoping just the opposite. If I get the nicotine I'm addicted to, I want to run away from cigs forever, at least that's the plan. Got 6, 3 volt LifePO4 bats, to try 6volt vaping, and bought 2 of the 3.7 volt 3000 mAh batteries from Rob, got a Pila charger for them elsewhere as VK does not carry those chargers. Nothing will go to waste, the commitment is there, just waiting for the tool. Thanks for asking, I hope to have something to report back soon. Now get back to drinking the solvent.....

I have had this metalic taste before and it will not go away. I believe it has something to do with the stainless steel mesh that makes up the bridge and under the coil of the atty. Stainless steel WILL rust and I think that is what happens to them. Especially if you are using water to rinse them out with. I never clean out my atties and just use them until they die now and have not had this problem since.

This happened really quite quickly on my AFS 901 atties (so they were new). I did soak them in Vodka overnight since I'd heard this cleared deposits.

Maybe you have an atty from TW that it was black. I ordered 50 silver atomizers and they send me black ones so I had to put them on wheel to make them silver. I am almost sure that this taste is because I put them on wheel Vaug.Please try to clean it with alcohol and a cloth and tell me again
Do you think that the resistance gets rust in some atomizers? Who knows Vapn, maybe

Great finding!! So no H2O for atties, athough I never had an issue with metal taste and I always clean them with water.

I suspect it could several possibilities, part of the PG liquid, or water in the mixture (part of the content?), remember it becomes vapor, hence some H20 perhaps, tiny water droplets. And even though one "inhales", there is still moisture in our breath, does not take much to get on such a tiny part, and sit and rust, the longer one has it. Just some guesses, but makes me ask, since I'm a newbie,
How long do you folks reuse them? I know it's a very general question, since one may vape more often, more hours, more days, etc. Just wondering?
I knew that common stainless steel can be rust much more slowly than iron but I didnt knew about the name. In Greek is called "unrusted"
Actually, all my 3 AFS 901s have gone to atty heaven (and I only used them at 3.7v on AFS).
I have one non AFS 901 which I purchased at the same time. I've washed it in Vodka twice and tried blowing steam through it from a capuccino machine steam wand. I still has the metallic taste, so the rusting argument makes sense.

PLUS we have visual evidence from Vap'n.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned over rusing, perhaps because it's up there where angels fear to tread, is whether AFS is likely to expose the atty to more moisture producing rust, because the atty is surrounded by all that liquid.

I still have one 510 attie for three months and I use that one almost every day. I also had atties that lasted one day. I am a heavy vapor, all day and all night every day!
I own a cappy machine a "Ranchillo", small model, but puts out enough steam for mike, and would burn your skin. So if HI pressure steam is considered safe on atties, then I could attempt this soon. My GGTS is on the way. Still begs one question, you are spraying "steam", which is water, which can rust, back to where this question started. How do you get the water out? I have some "canned air" used for photo work, this could blow some or most of the left over water out, but not 100% of it. How are others cleaning their devices for "taste" free?
I found the ultrasonic cleaning machine much more practical and efficient than anything else...Besides, one can use it to clean anything else.
