At least none of them were flipped for a profit, and hopefully they were bought by people who missed out on getting the wood they wanted. I know I got one I wanted... ;)

that's my biggest hope. that someone who gets it really appreciates it.

I was one of those that "flipped" my week old woods. I REALLY had buyer's remorse. They're GORGEOUS and the quality, as always, blew me away. However, they are "more" than I wanted to get into (I'm clumsy, worried about chipping, ruining the finish, etc.). I am so glad that I was able to trade them to members that either did not have the funds to purchase a woodvil, or did not get the model they wanted, or for whatever reason, missed out on the sale.

Of course, I did NOT want more than what I put out monetarily for them. In fact, I feel that if I were to do the monetary math, I lost a little bit in my trades. But...that's not why I did it. I couldn't care less about the money. What is important is that I got EXACTLY what I want now (some LP Grands), and the traders are getting exactly what they wanted, but missed out on (essentially new, almost unused woodies).

I'm just glad that those I traded with are surely going to appreciate their woods far more than I ever could. And that's what counts. Okay, I feel a little better now. I was a smidgen guilty about being a "flipper."

Yes ebay has nothing to do with ECF, but no, you missed the point, Katdarling was referring to this, which was in bold in her post:

Oh! My bad I didn't even see that!
I bow out of this at this point. When it returns to woodvil talk I'll return lol

Thank you both. :)

Okay, I just skimmed (not gonna read all 9 pages of back-story in detail) through the thread. It all boils down to the blurred lines of confusing price and value (i.e. the value an individual places on a particular item). Rob himself said it: your product, do with it as you wish.

Also, if there's a seller of something, they may charge whatever they wish. Conversely, a buyer is not "forced" to pay that price; they freely choose to part with their money as they see fit. For some, money is no object in how they value something. I make no judgment on why a seller charges what they do, nor what a buyer chooses to pay.

I'm reminded of the sheik or mogul or whoever he was, who paid like eleventy-billion dollars for a diamond encrusted "eGo type vape pen" for his wife/girlfriend. We might think that's frivolous and silly, and the vendor a "crook" for basically bedazzling (albeit, with priceless jewels) a $50 piece of "junk." But...both parties involved were apparently "thrilled" with the transaction, and that's what matters. It may be weird to us as outsiders looking in, however, if both buyer and seller are happy with that sale, then great: mission accomplished!

I have not seen this happen with reo's and I hope I never do. But I think it would be some thing better left to Rob to address in what even manner he could.

I think he has addressed it several times on here over the years ..... He believes once you own something being it one of his mods or anything you can do as you like with it.

Thats kind of how I feel .... I'm not going to get upset no matter what people do ...... There is always one happy buyer in each flipper deal so thats cool. Someone got what they wanted and paid what they thought was fair for it.

I don't understand why people keep saying that someone that wanted one was not able to get one ...... the person that buys a flipped one wanted it to ...... and maybe that was the only way they were able to get one ..... be happy for them, not mad at the seller they provide a service.

I don't see what you did as flipping at all. To me, flipping is buying with the intention on reselling, for ultimately a profit.

I said before, I do agree with Rob, it's your item you purchased to do with as you see fit, however, not everyone will agree with what others see fit.
I'm the one that's said something similar. I mean, a person who was there on sale night, wanted #XX woodvil, but wasn't able to get it because someone else bought it, then 5 days later sees it on ebay. that's the person i feel sad for. For instance, I was one of THE first woodvil purchases to go through, if i saw the one i wanted on ebay 5 days after the sale, i'd be very upset. That's just my opinion. However, seeing it on the classies/trade here "i didnt' like it for X reason" says something very very different to me.

Ok, lets analyze this post!

Well obviously the person who pays more than retail REALLY wanted it too ....... Soooo

Soooo….that makes it ok to take advantage of people?

saying it right or wrong .... I am saying its silly for anyone to get their panties in a bunch over it......... Its not a must have item.

ok, NOW my panties are in a bunch :)

not like they are flipping shingles or plywood in a tornado zone .... Its a vaporizer ... Much bigger problems in this world than if someone gets the toy they want.

irrelevant to the discussion.

I will probably take some heat for this, but here we go...

So I can understand life gets in the way sometimes and things don't go as we would like them to, but if to profit was never an intention here, then why put it up for bid? Why not just list it for what you paid for the item? I think it is a clear intention to profit and IMO this is wrong... I can really see where some people that tried to get in on the Woodvil sale would be ...... to walk away with nothing and just because someone else wants to pay more for an item on Ebay the seller doesn't see it as profiteering!!! Why not wait another day and list it in the classifieds here on the forum, if the intention was to "not" profit from the sale? Again, why not list it for what you have into it instead of letting everyone bid on it? I think the listing for the Billet Box is a clear intention to profit as well... The item is nearly $100 over cost and still hasn't met the reserve!!! I just feel its wrong to take advantage of the community in this way... I personally hope they "don't" meet the reserve and they have to be re-listed, then maybe we'll all see what the real intentions were...

The billet thread here is not as kind on this subject as what I've seen here in reoville.

You do all know that even per ECF rules you are allowed to sell something for up to 20% more than you paid for it.

I really like this community and came here because everything here was so positive. That being said I don't like this discussion at all.

The person explained what he did and Rob stated he had no problem with it. I think now it's at the point of beating a dead horse and possibly creating hard feelings and I just don't understand that.

Agreed. I think everyone has had their say at this point so now I'm going to close it and let it drift off to the archives. I know it seems pointless to let the conversation go this far, but it's good to let everyone get it out of their system so it doesn't pop back up and create more bad juju. thank you everyone for keeping your cool. I know it's not easy. :D
