My first post because I've tried everything and can not fix the hot spot on the top coil going to the positive post. I've oxidized the ..... out of the wick and then some more, even oxidized the coil, numerous juice burns, tinkered with the spacing between coils. Eventually after enough pulsing the coil snaps even at 3 volts. I don't have a drill bit to try the Petar k method but I'm sure I don't think I even need to try that because I'm pretty sure I'm getting this thing covered in plenty of carbon. Starting to feel hopeless and like I wasted $50 on all this stuff. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

34 ga is really fragile & it's gonna be hard to work with without popping the coil. Even using a vv/vw device like the Vamo you should be able to use 30ga (4-6 wrap coil). I think you'll find thicker resistance wire a lot easier to work with. Actually you can just "twist" the 34ga & try that. Again, a 4-6 wrap the wick would get you up over the 1.2 ohms needed to fire the Vamo.

Thanks for the reply! But I can't even dream of firing it for as long as he does. My top coil will snap after 2 seconds because I can't get rid of that annoying hot spot lol. I'm beginning to think the aga-t2 is just not a great device. I'm going to keep trying though until I run out of kanthal. Then maybe it might be time to give up.

30 huh? Ok I was just thinking about getting some 32, but maybe I'll give that a try. Thanks!

I just got an AGA-T2 a week ago as my first rebuildable. It's not a bad unit. The biggest cause of top coil hotspots from my research is having the top of the wick too far away from the positive post. Bend the top of the wick towards the post a bit when you attach your positive end of the wire. Also make sure the wick is not too tight in the hole into the tank. If it's too tight a fit then it will scrape off the oxidization as you push it in the tank and short. Another tip I just learned last night from a show on Vapourtrails.tv is to wrap a small strip of cling wrap around the wick just where it goes through the hole to insulate it. It works and is below the coil enough that it doesn't melt. I got my unit up & running in under 1/2 hour with the mesh & wire that came with it, and I've never made a wick or coil before. I just watched hours of videos on RBA's on youtube. I more or less used the 'drill bit' method and it only took a little fiddling to get the coil glowing evenly. Remember to start with your voltage turned way down or use an almost dead battery if you are using a mechanical mod until you get it glowing evenly. Good luck!
