Hmmm ego's hey, I'll look at that but it really seams like I should maybe just get the best right off the batt and not .... around with the smaller batteries

Heheh, even though I moved up to the awesome X2, I still like my Volt 808's for on the go. The X2 is actually sleek and not too heavy for one the go, but I still actually like my 808's! Yeah, I'm weird, I know.

The blank carts that I can use with either my Volts or X2 let me explore flavor options before investing big in liquids. The tank/clearomizers hold a lot more than I'm willing to vape if I don't like the liquid. So, whatever system you get, explore slowly. Try sample size liquids and sample packs of carts before committing to larger investments.

I don't want to get you confused or anything, but it is almost cliche with vapers that we all go through vaping "stages". We start out wanting something that exactly duplicates a cigarette, looks like, feels like and tastes like a cigarette. And why not? We are making a substitution, so we want it to be as familiar and as close as possible to what we know and, yes, love. Unfortunately, the practicalities don't favor this. A cigarette sized battery has a very limited capacity, and therefore a short charge. Yes you can get by recharging multiple batteries, but it is a pain and added expense. Figure for an average smoker, 1-2 hours per batt. You are also limited in the amount of vapor it will output and this is a big element in satisfaction. You aren't a heavy smoker, so you may get by okay, but then again, most people find they vape more than they smoked, so maybe not. I started with a 510 and when my first battery petered out I had to make a decision, and because of finances, or lack of them actually, I went with a Tornado (Ego clone) pass-through. Simply, this is a 650 mah battery (slightly fatter than a cig) that you can plug into any USB port and vape away as it charges. Of course you can just charge it that way too, without vaping it, and it is good to go, just unplug it, and it should last you at least 6-8 hours. I spend a lot of time at the computer so it seemed a natural for me, besides, at $19 it was way cheaper than an EGO kit, which I didn't need because I already had the 510 atomizer and cartridges and a few cartomisers. (Obviously, if you don't already have these, you can pick them up separately or just buy a kit...do price comparisons.) When I bought my pass-through I also picked up a few different kind of cartomisers to try out, a drip tip, and a cone which makes for a smoother profile where the 510 cartos meet the EGO body and also offers support. The whole bill was around $38. Sounds confusing I know, but it really isn't once you sort through it. Honestly, if you start off with a 510 or 808, like almost everyone else, you will eventually be moving up anyway eventually, but it really is your call. I hope I don't come across as pushy, just informative. This is a great little video you should check out, it pretty much covers the steps we move through, enjoy:

Thanks Charliegirl and no thats not pushy at all, it is actually what I am seriously considering now. Like you said it sounds confusing but I will sit down and really start reading alot deeper into this tomorrow. I'm going to sleep on this bit of info tonight, don't think I should rush into this so quickly after reading these replies. Thanks

I would also consider that it's probably not just the look and feel of a cig that will help you quit. It's also the ease of use, convenience, and performance that will help out especially at first. Remember a cig is pretty convenient you do not have to worry about refilling, battery charge, vapor production, consistency and things like that all you need is a cig and a lighter. The video above is a pretty good snapshot of what most people go through in transition from smoke to vapor.

I quit about 4 weeks ago and I too did a lot of research and found some of the elaborate setups most like (VV mods, box mods, etc.) to be too much (too large, bulky). I eventually settled on the ego 650mah batt's (2) ,and thanks to the people at a local store I found (Vapor Rising Tampa, FL), and a DCT. The batteries pretty much lasted me all day and into the next day (I used them in rotation) and the full tank would last over a day and cartomizers last me 7-10 days on average. I use about 50ml 80pg/20vg a month and started with a nic content of 28mg, which I found to be too much for me, to start. BTW former 1 PAD smoker. I currently use a 18mg nic strength juice now. This set-up provided me the convenience of cigs due to the longer battery life, limited refilling (visual of juice level notified me of when I needed to refill too), and the vapor production, throat hit and consistency that simulated the action and sensation of smoking well enough for me. I was more addicted to the action and sensation of smoking than the chemicals and whatnot in a cig.

I am still relatively new to this, but I will share what I have come to know on e-liquid. PG is thinner (more fluid) more flavorful and helps the nic provide the throat hit better than VG, but is drier and will tend dry your mouth and throat more initially as you get accustomed to it. VG is thicker, provides a smoother vapor and more of it. There are plenty of threads in this forum that you can research to inform you, better than I can, on e-liquids.

BTW guess what? I now have a Provari mini that I am waiting on arriving this week, go figure.
