Very sorry to hear that, Coco. Just got my 84 year old Dad out of physical rehab last month. He was too weak from an infection to go home. He is the SAME way, but fortunately, he got married a few years back to a GREAT lady, and I am grateful that he has someone with him to look out for him.

I hope that your Mom recovers enough to remain independent, or can find peace with the need to sacrifice some independence. Your mom is in my prayers!

As my grandparents lived in other countries, I never really experienced the challenges of advanced age until my folks got old. QUITE the eye-opener, and I am wringing EVERY last bit I can out of my "youth" (boy is that relative!) before all of this catches up to me. It's coming, but for now, I'm buying superbikes. :)
LLB, this has really helped me determined to simplify my life before I get to this point. My mom passed the point of where she should be living alone a few year ago

So sorry to hear, Chanel. That has to be so hard. And particularly hard when she's fighting what's in her best interests. I've already told my mom that if she acts like my grandma did, I'm going to give her a swift kick in the .... We laughed about that, but I'd imagine that when the time comes, it will be a lot more difficult than that!

She would never go to one of those places. Refuses. She has an attorney and an accountant that see to her needs. I send her good books from time to time
Pity because independent living really is like having your own place and your friends are right there. Living alone is much more isolating.

Update to let everyone know how I'm doing. Healing is going well. Saw my surgeon yesterday, and as expected, I have to keep the drain in for another week.
Since the shortness of breath never really went away, he referred me to a pulmonologist! I'm going next Tuesday. I remembered that my PET scan, back in April, said that I had centrilobular emphysema, and pulled out a copy of the report to bring with me. It wasn't a surprise, since my mother has it, but since I was focused in on the cancer, I kind-of just snickered when I saw that. Funny, though, how quickly I went from symptomless to "definitely a problem!" on it.
I'm doing my very best to limit my vaping...I inhale a tiny bit and then click it off, so I get much less. I also found that it's worst when I lie down, so I'm sleeping with my upper half elevated, which is also good for my surgery site.
So, is the pulmonologist going to tell me to absolutely quit vaping?

@PennyLynn I'm so glad the surgery went well!

I hate to hear that you have more to deal with. You shouldn't have any trouble vaping if you can train yourself to not inhale. I do it since I have so much trouble with VG. The nicotine is absorbed so you don't need to inhale. I inhale in and blow the vape out my nose while keeping my throat closed. I probably inhale a small amount but it isn't enough to bother me.

Not too good LLB. My mom, age 84, fell twice in a week. Hospitalized of course, and then moved to a recovery/convalenscence hospital for physical therapy. It has been determined that she cannot live alone anymore. She is fighting tooth and nail, she is a big drinker/smoker and this was not how she wants things. Big ordeal. Technically she is in her right mind so she can make her own decisions. I am only here for a week, her home is not how it was a few years ago when I was here. She obviously cannot be on her own but we have the problem of a very strong willed independent person that will do as she pleases.

My mother shouldn't be living alone either but refuses to move from her condo. We've even asked her to move in with us but she likes her independence. It has to be so much harder for you to handle since you don't live in the same town.

These situations are so difficult. My dad recently passed, and my mother had been caring him for him nonstop for years. Poor thing is so worn down, and was so busy with Dad that she hardly knows how to proceed now. Her own health was so neglected that it may be very hard for her to recover her strength.

I'm so sorry about your dad. I hope your mom can recover. It must be so hard for her. My grandmother did the same thing. When grandpa died she had breast cancer but she didn't tell anyone or do anything about it for 6 months. She just didn't feel like dealing with it. She recovered and lived almost 20 more years.

This I know, she however views it as as crippling because she loves her home and we cannot get her to see otherwise

Had a good visit with the pulmonologist. She pointed out that I was being exposed to cigarette smoke from birth (thanks, Mom), and that even though it was great that I quit, she considers me a "lifer". She didn't want to commit specifically to any one issue, whether it's emphysema or chronic bronchitis yet. Tests are scheduled, and I got a scrip for a longer-lasting inhaler.
Funny, this must be one of those cases where anxiety kicked in and made things worse, because I'm feeling better now just from dealing with the problem! And by the way, I never mentioned vaping.

I know what you mean. Apparently some people get more anxious when they're told they're having anxiety attacks. I'm in the "Oh, so that's what that was. Okay. How do we treat it?" group. Having a diagnosis and knowing what you're dealing with makes it a little better.

I'll try this; thank you, Bukket!
I felt so good that I took a nap this afternoon (I just realized how OLD that makes me sound) and the breathing was pretty even. Hubster got my 'scrip, which is Symbicort. Since I used the other inhaler I had, I'll wait until closer to bedtime for this one. Getting a chest x-ray tomorrow.

And Poeia, YES. It's a lot easier to deal with the known...even though in this case, that means doing research to determine what I've got. Doctor did say that even though chemo for breast cancer isn't known to directly damage the lungs, it leaves you in a weakened state...whatever was going on in my lungs was nicely minding its own business before...so signs point to this all being at least partly chemo's fault. Most foods still taste "off," although I had to pull out my Tweezerman kit this week for the first time in months LOL!

OK. Symbicort is amazing. You have to take it for a bit to get it really working for you, but man! I started it Tuesday evening. Wednesday, we went out shopping, and I got out of breath (had to use the rescue inhaler). By Thursday, when I went to the doctor and then the market, no such issues! I sleep like an angel and needing to slow down and catch my breath is a rarity.
I won't get a real diagnosis of my problem for a few weeks, when I go back to the pulmonologist, and I am very curious as to what the tests will show, but at least now I can relax a little.
By the way, my surgeon removed my drain, but I now have to wear an Ace bandage around my entire chest for a week. That is moderately un-fun for sure. In other news, I had a big salad with grilled shrimp for dinner last night (with blue cheese AND bacon bits). Yum! Most fiber I've had in ages. AND a Krispy Kreme (damn neighbor kid was selling them for a school trip). That may have been my second ever.

Anyone know what Wlad is going to do about the "free" sample policy? I've been reading about some vendors discontinuing their "free" samples so I'm curious.

Dunno what the FDA regs actually say about it, but I was wondering whether the way Ahlusion gives out their sample qualifies as "free". You have to buy at least one custom bottle to qualify for the additional sample, so it's not like Ahlusion is giving it away for nothing, right? I'm wondering whether that might be sufficient consideration to render the sample not "free".
Verde Valley Vapes has re-instituted its "free" eliquid program - apparently under the same rationale I was referring to above. This from VVV's Facebook page:

We just got clearance to re-release the FREE 100ml, instead of the $1.00 Promo! Since it's a "BoGo" promotion where a qualifying dollar amount is spent, and isn't a sample of something, we are compliant to the terrible regulations.

Hopefully Wlad will get the same advice from his "suits" and will be following suit (pun intended).

I haven't been able to get an order in since he took the samples off. Something must have happened to his ordering system. I can access my account, but can't even load anything in my cart. I get either a white screen or an error message. Maybe I can get an order in if the samples are back in the mix. Tried clearing cookies, different browser and both computer and tablet, without success. Gave up.

Jumpin in I had to make a new account at Wlads suggestion because I was having trouble too. They then transferred my points and gold status to the new account

I'll have to see what they suggest. Did you have to use a new email address? Last I heard from them was Thursday. All Alley suggested so far was to clear cookies and try another browser, which I did and got back to them that day. Honestly, I won't be happy if I have to walk away from my accumulated points.

No. Used the same EVERYTHING. Clearing cookies did not work for me either. Points and info all transferred to new account

OBX Vacation + Kayfun 5 + Calypso!

Just got back from a one week vacation on the beautiful NC Outer Banks. Took along a Kayfun 5 loaded with my ADV, Caramel Wild Wood, and a 2nd brand new, unopened K5. While Mrs. Magic was out for a morning run on the beach, I disassembled, washed/dried the new K5, built a beautiful 1.4Ω contact coil, wicked and loaded with Calypso, half 70PG/30VG, 12mg, sweetened, breeze and half 70PG/30VG, 6mg, sweetened, no breeze. Ooh, la, la! Delicious, perfect summer vacation vape! :w00t:

Just saw my surgeon for follow-up, and I can lose the Ace tomorrow! I'm telling you, wearing a tight wrap around your chest, while experiencing breathing issues, is not good. Well. tomorrow, I can start dealing with the "what to wear" issue. Yes! Oh, and I don't go back to him for three months. So that step is basically done. On to radiation we go.

Well, it's been a week and they have still not responded to my last email. Me thinks I have fallen through the cracks. Got to give them the benefit of the doubt, as up to now Wlad has been super responsive. Guess I'll try opening a new ticket. :|

I tried opening a ticket, replying to the email verification and two voice mails. Nothing and that was well over a month ago.
