I think I read some where that most people vape with the airhole away from them. However, I found that when sitting down, and tilting the REO, I get better vape when the air hole is pointed down. I think this is because the residue fluid on the deck rewicks the coil while it is vaporizing? I get a great flavorful vape this way.

On the other hand, when the air hole is pointed up, the fluid pools on the bottom, and I tend to get a dry vape no matter how well saturated the wick is before firing.

what's your thought on this?

Unless I forget to squonk, I've had no dry hits with the air hole facing up.

I squonk before each drag.

I'm not talking about "dry hits" as in nasty burnt hit. I'm just saying that it's less than optimal. I vape this menthol fruit flavored juice and even the slightest taste difference is noticeable. Then again, I cut my wicks short so that might be why, there is only so much juice the coil can hold.

Yes, air pointing down may leak if you run an enlarged air hole. Also, it's a good idea not to have the coil swimming in juice, rather just a splash to wet the wick then vape it.

Then another splash. Another vape. Repeat as often as you can for best vape.

A coil that's being over cooled by excess juice produces less heat and vapor. :)

The reason i point the airhole away from my face is because if i just fitted a new coil, it spits like crazy. I'd rather that was not hitting me!

There was once a Reonaut (who shall remain nameless) that wondered why their chin felt hot spits on it, or warm air blowing on it when they took a vape!

If you are getting a dry vape without the coil sitting in a pool, sounds like you have a choked out wick ie too much wick. What are you using for wicking??

I use cotton. I make a coil with a 16 gauge nail, and once the coil is in position, I take a piece of cotton and insert it tight until I can no longer pull it, then I trim it.

Yeah, you're definitely choking it. I wick mine so that I can easily pull it back and forth inside the coil, then trim. Remember, your dry tight cotton is going to swell when it gets wet. You've already taken up all the room it can take by pulling it tight until you can no longer pull it, leaving no room to allow the liquid to penetrate your cotton and swell.........

This is definitely the case with ReadyXWick also. When I wrap a coil on the smallest mandrel of the coil gizmo and then use 2mm ReadyXWick, it tastes burnt because it is too tight inside the coil.

I've never had that problem. I use the 1.5 mandril and 2mm Ready-Wick. The only time it tastes burnt is if I vape it dry.

i'm also able to easily slide the R/W back and forth.
