I am flying out of Ft Lauderdale tomorrow and wondering if anyone has any tips for traveling with the Prodigy or e-cigs in general. I really don't want to spend a day without the PD but don't want to miss my flight because they wont let me on the plane with it.

Have any of you had problems with security checkpoints and the Prodigy? If I can't take it past the CP then what do I do? Mail it home? Get one of those lockers and pick it up on the return trip? And then go nic free all weekend? That won't happen.

I might just take my other brand of e-cig and suffer to play it safe... he he...

I took the batterys out and put them in a seperate place in my purse also the atty in my make-up bag in my purse. It passes no problem... Now my husband does the same thing but goes in the laptop case also no problem we have taken a total of 3 trips with the prodigy flying out of Orlando, FL I also want to add I was more worried about the e-juice but I put mine in a small bottle in my Bra (Blushing) and my husband carrys his in his pocket .. dont think you want to put that through the machine

I work for the TSA. Please, please do not carry a liquid in your bra. Should it be discovered by a pat down, it could be considered an artfully concealed item.

E cigs and e juice are NOT prohibited. Keep them in your carry on bag. Make sure the juice does not exceed 3.4 oz.

Happy travels...

Woops my bad I really thought if it was over 3.4 oz it had to be in a zip lock bag ... Next time I will know thanks for the heads up :)

Shouldn't the juice also be in a small zip lock bag?

There is a entire thread about flying with vap'n stuff in The E-Cigarette in Public forum sub group Travel and E-Cig

Haven't read that thread but haven't looked for it. Not doing any travel on airlines again anytime soon so. I am now informed about the ziplock bag Thanks :)

Hi WildJC,

Thanks for the post. I've heard so many different things about airports, TSA and e-cigs. It's nice to hear this from a person with a hands on, heads up view.

My brother just flew from TX to NY and he has one of the e-cigs that looks like a little cigarette with a brown filter. And he vaped his PV as he walked through the airports. He sorta has a way about him that says, "Don't bother me, it's not worth it." Plus, he's all limpy and busted up after his last tour in Iraq. He can't go through the metal detector because he now has so much metal and electronics implanted into him, so for sure, he was patted down everytime he entered a secure area. Plus he looks like GI Joe. Got that high and tight thing going on.

No one said a word to him about having or using his PV. But he said that all he ever did was take one good solid hit and put it back in his pocket. He's a brave guy. I'd be afraid of being tackled by some polically correct kook.

Just take 15ml of juce and put it in the plastic bag with your shampoo and stuff. Put the PV1 in the plastic bin to be X rayed. Stealth vape on the plane. Take a shallow draw and hold your breath so the vapor won't show. I flew with an 801 around my neck connected to a battery pack in my pocket with no trouble. Vaped normally in the airport but not on the plane, especially before takeoff. Didn't want to risk being kicked off.

Hey vapnaway, I live in Port Saint Lucie and when I fly I pass right by Palm Beach International and fly out of Lauderdale instead (I prefer it).
Last time I flew out of Lauderdale was in June for a trip to Tennessee for Bonnaroo.

Keep it in your carry on, take the batteries out, make sure the bottles are 3oz or less (I've never heard 3.4, always an even 3)
Keep ALL liquids in a QUART SIZED ziplock bag, whether you have more or less, in an area of your carry-on that you can access easily.
The bottles need to fit comfortably in a quart sized bag, you can't pack em in there.

Chances are security won't even open your bag as long as you're travelling domestically. They can tell on the x-ray if things are hallow or not, so just take the batteries out and you'll be fine. These people know the difference between an aluminum tube and a pipe bomb.

If I can fly from TN to FL with lighters in my pocket and a giant PVC didgeridoo that looks like a painted bazooka, you can bring your prodigy.

Well just an update... I made it through TSA with no problems at all... On the first leg of my trip I put everything in the bin with my keys and wallet and when I was gathering my stuff one of the agents asked me what that is. He said "Is that a torch?" and my nervous reply was no it is a nicotine inhaler. I demonstrated it for him and got a reaction. He smiled and said "have a good day sir..." I got the heck out of there before anyone else could say anything. But other than that it was no problems.
I just put my juice in the ziplock bag with my other liquids and put my Prodigy and KR808 in the bin with my laptop and wallet and stuff.

O on the plane I just went into the bathroom and vaped my head off real quick. Nobody knew any different. I didn't want to start anything sitting in my seat. On the trip back I did sneak a few puffs in my seat. I just blew the vapor into my shirt and it didn't show up.

The only real problem I had was my Prodigy crapped out on Sat night. I was changing the batteries and when I put the newly charged ones in it would not work. I changed atomizers and still nothing. I took it apart and put it back together cleaning all the contacts and took the switch out and cleaned that too. Put it all back together and still nothing.... Kept trying it and then it just started working again... Still don't know what the heck it was but I was freaking for a few minutes. I just said... noooooo not now!!!

Thanks to everybody who offered their advice. It helped me.

I saw the most touching thing the other day regarding thanking a warrior for service to our country.

My brother is deep in love with a woman warrior, and they were sitting at his kitchen table with their faces about 1/2 in apart from one another. They'd say something tender then kiss. But I was really touched and amused when they thanked each other for their service to our country, with a couple of french kisses breaking up the the phrase.

They eloped yesterday.

So I have a new sister-in-law .... and she's a warrior. I love it!!!

I am a flight attendant for a major airline. Just so you know, the use of e-cigs is banned on the planes. Be careful using the e-cig in the lavs also. The lav smoke detectors are extremely sensitive. Steam from the ovens while cooking the food (yes, some of us still serve food for free) can set off the smoke detectors in the lavs as well as perfume, hairspray, or anything else that is a vapor. I for one wish that it was ok to use them while onboard, but unfortunately the FAA and management never listens to our opinions. Also I had fun explaining what a PCC was when going through security myself a few times. (you can imagine how many times I go through in one week.) The TSA agent thought at first it was a taser. :) I hope this helps. Happy vaping!

I also had trouble with my laptop after the x-ray. It was locked up and I actually had to pull the battery out and reset the darn thing. IDK why but it did. And as far as my Prodigy crapping out. I don't think it had anything to do with the flight. Reason being it worked right after. It seemed to quit on me after changing batteries. I figured it was just the atomizer but it wasn't.
