Ugh. As my name suggests, I am an aviator for a major US airline. I go through airport security more than most. Usually about 4-5 times a week. They do not like this passthrough.
Just this week alone, 3 out of 4 security checkpoints have asked to search my flight bag. Highly unusual. We usually get a lot of leeway when it comes to electronics, liquids, oversized items etc.. Not with the passthrough.. One screener told me yesterday that it looks like a detonator. I have never seen a detonator, so I took his word for it, but he said a coil of wire with something on the end looks very suspicious.
After explaining what it was and what it does, they were all fine with it and l was on my way, but it is a bit of a hassle. The screener that said it looked like a detonator, suggested that I leave it at home.
That sucks since there is no chance that I will be leaving it at home and using batteries when I am on my layovers at the hotel.

Just wanted to pass this along if anyone is planning on putting it in their carry on luggage. It may be better to put it in your checked bags.

Thanx so much for the heads up. I travel often and have never had a problem with my regular e-cigs... 901 & 510...... but my PT from Puresmoker is on its way and my Prodigy. I am worried that I will not make it through and don't want to have to go through the hassle.

Looks like I will always be checking luggage even if it is only for a 1 night trip. Ugggghhhhhh:nah:

Oh well.... gotta have my PV with me and never want to be without! :)

Wonder what they make of a Prodigy -- pipe bomb? WMD? ;)

I travel a lot for my job and am just getting a PS USBpass, so this is good to know. I will just put it in the bin with my liquids and answer their questions.

Ironically I had to do that with my foot powder too (foot powder!). Every time I went through they called for a bag check, I finally asked them and they said, "we saw a powdery substance that worried us" so now I put my foot powder in the bin with my liquids too and no problems.

Actually, this is a good question. Did anyone try to take the Prodigy onboard? What would be the best way to go about it? I am thinking maybe keep it assembled and with batteries inside -- that way it may look like a electric toothbrush on the scanner.

I have. Put my liquids in a clear plastic bag with the shaving stuff and put it and the Prodigy in the bin. Went through without problems. I did stealth vape while in the airport and plane. What's stealth vaping? Take a hit, hold your breath for 30 seconds, and slowly let it out. Virtually no vapor is visible :D

With the amount of vapor from a Prodigy I would turn blue trying to hold it in :p

TnA.. The problem is with the new Puresmoker passthrough. Maybe because the wire is so thick, and the passthrough so large.
I have never tried to take any other ecigs onboard other than normal pens and dsc-901's. Never had any problems with them.
I fly again on Sunday so we will see how it goes.

Please let us know, I fly in a couple weeks and want to take mine too.

Been there, done that at the movies. Blowing it through the straw into my drink worked better.

 I can almost see the vape filled bubbles bursting. Seriously though, to stealth vape, you have to take a shallower drag. My boss was worried I'd get kicked off the plane if I started vaping like a steam engine so I had to make sure that didn't happen.

Hell I'm almost considering getting an entire clear luggage bag to take with me to Vagus. The amount of time, energy, and frustration that the airlines cause me is just ungodly.

Hey CalPilot, have you been able to vape in any of the airports? I don't know how I"m gonna handle a 4 hour delay with out some kind of nicotine.

It is easy for me because I can just go into the weather room and have some privacy. You could always go into the stall in the bathroom though.. I have never done it around passengers due to the fact that they might think I am doing drugs or something!
Zero, it is not the airlines fault. The TSA is government run and they make the rules at the security checkpoints..

I'll probably start requesting windows seats from now on. I think it would be easier to do stealth vaping that way.
If you had a window seat, you can just roll the window down a little and blow the vapor out that way....although the sudden loss of cabin pressure may be a bit of a downer for your fellow passengers... :)
