...it's mind blowing to hear in each and every news item that the American Lung Association (or Canadian or Australian or "fill in Country name here" ) all say the same thing..."for e-cigarettes to be removed from the market, saying they have yet to be proven safe."

And cigarettes are????

Somehow we need to get everyone to look at the BIG picture. Keep testing & researching the product and in the mean time , if nothing else, e-cigs are the lesser of two evils.

Well cigarettes (as opposed to e-cigs) have a fairly well quantified risk; I take it if e-cigs turned out to cause your brain to turn in to marmalade on the first day of the thirteenth year of vaping then they'd be a somewhat worse choice.

That's not really the issue, the issue is that all our rationality says that it does not make sense that they are dangerous, or at very worse not more dangerous than analogs. It's a terrible reflection on the way that politics views science.

In my limited English I sent him the following email:

Dear Mr. Patrick Thatcher.

My Wife and I are users of the so called Electronic Cigarette. Let me tell you that we live in Colombia and we are not American citizens.

OK, now to the point:

My wife was 1 pack Marlboro light per day since 1978 ( She is 45 years old now) and I was 2 to 3 pack Marlboro red per day. I started smoking when I was 11 years old and I have been smoking 2 to 3 pack for about 25 years now. At the begging I was not smoking so much .

We have a daughter of 8 years now, and we were very concerned to the damage that we were doing to her. She had nasal congestion all the time and allergic rhinitis. Also, last year, in an expedition in the jungle, I was kicked by a mule on the chest (2 broken ribs), so I had to go to the doctor and he made an Xray of my chest and told me that I was beginning to show real smoking damages on them.

My wife and I tried all the methods that are out there to give up smoke and we just could not stop smoking. We do like smoking.

So, in January we hear about the electronic cigarette in the radio as a new gadget, and found out that there were non to be purchased in Colombia yet. So we decided to buy one, to start with, from an USA company and make it to deliver by courier. We did it and it was very expensive (we pay $450 for just 1 e-cig, some cartridges and shipping costs and that is expensive for Colombia if you take in account that it is 2 months of minimum salary of a person). But since the very first day I got that e-cig I have not smoke one analog! Since February I do not have an analog, and we were so happy at that, that we just bought another one for my wife in march and she also have not use analogs since she got hers!

Now, my daughter do not have nasal congestion and her allergic rhinitis has stoped. My wife and I breath a lot better, we sleep better, eat and smell better. My wife stop snoring and I reduced it by 80% or so. We have more energy and a better relation in all ways. We are enjoying the live much more now.

We think e-cig are just a Miracle! It is the best gadget in the world since the weel (well, for us at least)!

We can not understand the FDA willing to ban the e-cig. We do understand that there is not long term studies about consequences of the e-cig and we are more or less concerned about it as well, but we do know the analogs where a sure death sentence. But it does not seems logic that e-cig can be as bad as analogs.

FDA has a responsability with the public, but not just in USA. A lot of 3th world countries will follow it lead, so if FDA ban the e-cig will not only kill American smokers, but also a lot of smokers around the world. I think that is a mass murder!

FDA will sentence to death people all around the world! FDA and USA have to be aware of the implications of their actions as the free world lider and as the most powerful country in the world!

Tobacco Companies and Farma Companies do not want people to stop smoking or using their products! Analogs kill and the farma products do not work or help as good or fast as people need! E.cigs are a truly alternative to change a "dirty" habit for a cleaner habit!

Sadly, It seams the FDA will became the biggest mass murderer in the history, so USA government will be the biggest mass murderer in the history of Human kind. It will murder not only the actual smokers but those that are going to start smoking in the following years. It will murder not only me, but my wife and daughter.

Well, I hope you read this email and sorry for my English.

Best regards

The Kennedy bill will end up being a dangerous bill for public health, and not just for e-cigs. If the FDA controls it, then the people will believe that cigarettes are now "safer" as they are now "controlled" and condoned by the FDA (an agency that was SUPPOSED to be an advocate for the public health). Not good. Millions dead because of a brain cancer ridden senator. Nothing like taking out as many as you can before you croak.

Looks to me that Oswald shot the wrong Kennedy.
