i believe that when you inhale some substances can be passed directly to the blood stream via the lung alveolar cell membrane. so you are bypassing your digestive system which would absorb the alcohol at a slower rate. saw this device called AWOL(alcohol without liquid) that capitalizes on this phenomenon.

i think that inhaling alcohol would be a more efficient delivery method to the blood stream than drinking, so a smaller volume of alcohol would produce the same level of intoxication as a much larger drunken amount. but i think you'd really have to vape a lot to catch a buzz. i know a lot of people dilute their e liquid with alcohol. Has anyone felt any intoxicating effects?

I don't think you could vape enough through an e-cig to have an effect. You'd really need something bigger....

I know the quantities needed for intoxication will be different for inhaling, but anyway, to give you an idea a 500ml can of 5% lager contains 25 ml of ethanol. A single UK measure of spirits (25ml) contains about 10 ml ethanol.

An e-cig cartridge contains between (from figures someone posted on here) about 0.3ml liquid in a supermini to about 2ml in an e-pipe. Anyway, I think you'd have to do a lot of vaping to get any effect :)

Tropical Bob had made some mention about the AWOL machine in some earlier thread (I can't remember which one). He said it is outlawed in Florida. I guess it is too easy to get alcohol poisoning with that thing. I would love to try it, but with the way that I vape, I would probably OD on the first try.

I ran across the AWOL Machine online, and did a search for it here. It looks like it's been discussed in this thread, but that it was mentioned it was illegal. Unless I'm missing something, according to this site, it is legal at least in Florida.

How on earth can this be purchased in the US and there even be discussion about banning ecigs, let alone seizing of shipments?

Anyway, this was something I'd never heard of, so I thought I'd bump this thread.

I remember AWOL being introduced. I was intrigued so I looked into it. The concensus was that it wasn't very effective. Took an hour to vape 1 shot worth of liquor, and just didn't provide a buzz.

I forgot to post the link
AWOL FLORIDA - ALCOHOL WITHOUT LIQUID PARTY MACHINE

what amazes me is this from their FAQ:

Q. Is It Legal?
The two components of AWOL (extra oxygen and alcohol) are legal, so yes it is.

Looks like a 'drug delivery device' to me.

HEATING/ cooking alcohol kills the alcohol. It is more apt to burn hotter in your atomizer, that is why they use such a small amount. It just leaves the taste. AWOL makes cold vapor like a breathing tretment nebulizers.

That's not true. Alcohol evaporates at a lower temperature than water, so if you cook with alcohol (like wine) all the alcohol will evaporate in a very short time. It didn't disappear into the ether, it just evaporated and then condensed and fell back to the earth somewhere.

You would have to start with medical grade high proof ethanol which can be had from chemical supply houses at or above 97%. These supply companies wont just sell the stuff to anyone though. Even then, you would have to vape several millileters per hour to get drunk. Intravenous is a much better delivery system for alcohol for those that don't want to drink it. (I am in no way endorsing the intravenous use of alcohol without a doctors presciption).

I have deluted my VG liquid w/vodka...It is like 80% VG and 20%vodka and flavor...I only use like 2 or 3 drops per vape so the amt of alcohol that gets absorbed is so minimal ...

just think of drinking 5 drops of vodka..would you get buzzed? No way..
