I'm getting hernia surgery in 2 months, too much weight lifting and looking at my huge muscles ( :p ), and I'm seriously wondering what their response will be when I tell them that I don't smoke, but I vape 3ml of 12mg juice per day lol. Obviously after surgery I'm going to minimize my intake for healing purposes, but it'll be fun no doubt.

They will recommend 0mg during healing process likely and perhaps request you use the 0mg for several days before the surgery. Hope you heal quickly and well.

Most doctors will try to tell you you need to quit vaping or they won't do the surgery. It seems to be standard practice to threaten you for "your own good." I would try to find an doctor who is well informed about vaping like one who thinks it is relatively safer than smoking and knows nic isn't dangerous.
I've smoked through open heart surgery and vaped through many more.

I found it didn't negatively affect my healing all that much....

I went to a doctor who needed to perform a surgery on me and he asked if I smoked. I quipped "is a bull frog water proof?".

He responds "now I don't want you to smoke for 30 days before your surgery" in a Mr. Rogers kinda tone.
I asked "you're joking, right?" He said he wasn't.

I said "tell ya what doc, you turn into a bird for 30 days and I'll be a non smoker for 30 days". He says "that's impossible, I cannot turn into a bird".... I said "see my point?"

No, I quit four years ago.

In my case that would be an honest answer, and I wouldn't volunteer anything further.

Luckily I can freely choose a private practice if they resist, without paying a dime :) It's sort of a thing we have in Denmark. Nic, as far as I know, will shrink your blood vessels when in stream, hindering blood & healing. But I'm no scientist or a doc, I'm just a vaper. So whatever they say, I shall do lol :p

Went in today for pre-op checkup and yes, they did recommend that I quit 14 days before and after surgery (basically the same as actual smoking, I did ask). They couldn't really say much about how it affects healing of the wound because vaping is so new, so they don't really have an answer. I will of course follow the docs recommendation as best I can because what he told me was pretty scary sounding. So if I can quit vaping for 28 days, I probably wont be coming back - Ehh but let's see how it goes :p

In other news, I have to wait until Nov 23rd for actual surgery. Sigh. I thought it would be in 1-2 weeks tops.

You don't have to quit vaping, it is only the nic that inhibits faster healing. The stress relief from just the hand to mouth habit will help even with 0nic juice.

Of course. Actually now that I think about it, it's the perfect time to try unflavored juice just to see what the fuss is about :p
