Well, im not really a "socializer" but I like seeing how everyone "tinkers" with their accessories. Im more of a "tinkerer" and like to improve on things and my mind is always trying to see if I can make something better of if it doesnt work, "why" doenst it work. I tend to keep little bits of all sorts of stuff just in case someday when the apocalypse hits I will have lots of parts to use to make other things.

Plus Im sort of on the market for an atty tank once I recover from the hole in my pocket from buying my saber touch.

It takes a little modding to get it to work great, but the SmokTech RA tank is only $15. Not so bad for a gennie style. Pretty easy "fixes" and appears to work just as good as anything else afterwards.

Hoping to tear into mine this weekend following along with the method above for the most part. If I don't break it beyond repair, I'll post my impression. If I do break it... well... I'll be $15 worth of ......!

Well I'm just glad I didn't jump in that co-op for these when i had the chance. I guess they are experiencing a while heap of trouble and mess.. But I figure two holes drilled and a quick glob of solder on the center post and it's a winner.. Pretty sure I have some of that silicon sealant for the one hole, around here somewhere.. I would think that I would have to be uncoordinated and dumb as rocks, to mess that up.. But I have done worst, lol.

Are you going the route that Dan took with these?

Yep, if that was the second link that I posted after you found it. With the hole in the side of the tank next to the atty. Couldn't you solder that other hole too?

Sure was.. Well I suppose one could. I guess that would be determined on if you would ever want that hole back or not. If you were to, say, want those specific holes to do a 'U' shaped line of cotton or what have you, it wouldn't be possible anymore without drilling another hole and so on and so forth. But if you don't plan on that, I don't see the problem. Not sure how it would hold up with the liquid.. but I wouldn't guess there would be an issue.

I'll probably find out soon enough. My modding will be done in steps as I don't have and mesh or wire yet. I'll start with the hole in the side of the tank and plugging the hole in the center post and go from there as I get around to ordering supplies. Taste was pretty good as is, but I think I permanently changed my vision trying to get air through it.

May try cheesecloth and kanthal next and then graduate to mesh from there. I better order a few more tanks just in case Mr. Murphy is hanging around with his stupid law.

Yeah, I didn't know what exactly I was going to end up preferring so I grabbed Nichrome, kanthal, NR wire, cheesecloth, gauze, silica, mesh and cotton yarn. Just gotta grab some of that bamboo now. But I do think that first and foremost, that air hole needs to be switched up. It would probably solve 80% of the problems with it, right there.

Agreed. Although, the few toots I was able to get out of it, there was a couple dry hits. Probably a crappy factory coil but I didn't mess with it at all. It did look like the whole coil was much closer to the negative post, that might have something to do with it.

I would also imagine that the holes the wick goes through, is quite restrictive.. Haven't seen it yet, hopefully today it will be in the mail box, But I believe I read that the people who didn't fully mod it, at least opened up the wick holes a bit.

So, some of the videos show filling the smok rebuildable from the bottom - while it's on your device - rock back and forth - fill similar to a DCT......my end caps are crazy tight....that bottom cap wasn't shimmying it's way....finally the tank moved....and there's a wire in the connector end......still attached...where does it go? I can't reassemble this thing without knowing where that wire is supposed to be sitting..... I'm presuming it's a ground? H.E.L.P.

Smoking was easier...just sayin'

I'm sorry I can't help on this....I'm sure one of the guys that are familiar with that will stagger in at some point with (hopefully) some good info/advice.

Yep....smoking was way easier. Run out...5 minute trip to the convenience store...good to go....
With vaping you have to plan ahead for supplies and emergencies and whatnot....way more of a pain.
But....it has to better than smoking and we all smell a lot better:)...well most of us.

 Look what I found....only mine is disconnected at the other end Photo Album - Imgur

Well, there you go(i think)...
Break out that soldering iron and have at it.(i think)..
Sorry...I've never seen one. I'm a little shocked one of the "smart" kids haven't popped in here yet.
Does it appear to be a failed solder joint? If so clean it up and re-globe that puppy:blush: or maybe wait to see if one of the guys can confirm or deny what I just said:D

How was that for a bunch of non-commital drivvel?...lol...better safe than sorry.

Meh....it's summer weather in Philly - hot and muggy mostly. Yep, Reading Terminal Market - awesome place. Haven't been spending much time there past several months - I married another PIF Moderator on Jan 1 of this year and I'm mostly 100 miles away. We go back to Philly on the weekends mostly.

Think this has been a bit of a common problem. It is just a joint gone bad. It is also indeed the ground. Shouldn't be a difficult fix though. It should trace back to underneath the post that your coils are attached to. If you look inside that tube, you should be able to see a bit of solder where it was attached and just do a quick number on it with an iron.

If I remember correctly, it tends to happen when everything is twisting during removal. But once you get a good joint there, it shouldn't pose any more issues.
