I recieved my starter kit on 7/28. Traded off with my regular cigarettes over the weekend and just went straight with the ecig last monday. Issue: starting last week, my mouth (inside and lips) have broken out in blisters. Thought it was maybe the menthol??? So I tried the regular tobacco flavor? Still same issue. I am using prefilled cartridges with "high" nicotine content. Now my tongue is beginning to feel numb. I've been researching this morning and haven't seen anything or anyone else that has experienced this. When I started researching the VG, its confusing on who has the best product. Any advice would be helpful as I really don't want to go back to traditional cigarettes. TIA!

I myself get a sore throat and the corners of my mouth get sore and raw from PG I now vape almost 100% VG because there is some PG in the lorann flavoring I use and I no longer get the sore throat and my mouth dosen't get sore any more. One of the the problems I had was finding VG e-liquid that was truely 100% so I started mixing my own.

It sound to me like you might have a PG allergy (if it's not ciggie witdrawal). I do occasionally get numb lips from over-vaping, presumably from the nicotine, but nothing like what you are experiencing.

I can't advise on where to get the best VG liquids, but many places let you choose the ratio of PG to VG. Your problem will be easy enough to isolate by trying 0 nic PG liquid and seeing if it bothers you.

I have had several friends who were having reactions to vapeing and switched to vapeing VG with success. If you are interested there are alternative forms of medicine to attempt to cure your allergy. I do not think it would be the nicotine as you were a regular cigarette smoker.

How do you even know it's a PG allergy that this person needs to cure?

A List of Symptoms When Switching to E-cigs
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/68052-understanding-your-symptoms-while-adjusting-vaping.html

I strongly suggest reading these two threads before we go jumping on the allergy and cure bandwagon. Mouth ulcers are common when making the switch and usually heal on their own. If they last more than a couple of weeks or become too painful, then you should go see a doctor!

NO ONE on this forum should be giving medical advice or making a diagnosis for any other members.

Very few people are actually allergic to PG or VG and the only way to make that determination is seek a qualified medical doctor and have the proper tests done.

I would, but I'm overwhelmed with where to find it...plus, my cartridges are not refillable, so I'll need to go with another "starter" set with someone else since my first ecig doesn't offer VG cartridges.....

Who did you go with that the carts are not refillable? Most are unless you are using one of the gas station disposables...

It could be the PG but is more likely the nicotine. My tongue got numb and sore with 18mg nicotine in 100% PG when I first started. I switched to 70PG/30VG to buffer the irritation and that was totally fine. Many new vapers get sore tongue, mouth, throat or even lungs, mainly with medium or high nicotine in 100% PG because PG lets through the TH and irritation of nicotine through the best (and the flavor through the best). VG dulls/smooths all of those and adds some thicker vaper. Some methods of vaping work best with thin juices and VG is thick. Most people use blends. I find stuffing cartos work best for me with around 80PG/20VG or less VG. Tanks like 20-30% VG best. And atomizers and use any thickness as long as it wicks faster than you vape it.

There is a lot of information on this board regarding this. Do either a forum search or a google search. I know, because I tried to research it too when my mom had issues.

People seem to like to 'diagnose' here, but it could be several factors. Since none of us are doctors, read everything with a grain of salt because you should never take medical advice on a message board.

Could be high pg, could be high nicotine, could be the way you are vaping, could be symptoms of cigarette withdraw, could be dehydration. Without throwing away all of your juice and starting over read all the info here and see what it actually could be.

Yes, PG can be an irritant. High nicotine can be an irritant. But it doesn't irritate everyone. I certainly never had any symptoms. You could pick up a bottle of VG from walmart. I ordered my mother a VG juice but by the time it arrived she was already fine.

There was a thread on here about 'oil pulling' which sounded a little gross to me but people seemed to have good results with it. It involves washing you mouth with olive oil. You can google more about this. Some people said this and drinking more water helped.

You can get VG at any craft store or online there are a lot of places to get it. It doesn't sound like an allergy to PG or nic though maybe its the Finnish on your device and allergic reaction to something like nic or pg that u are inhaling would most likely show symptoms all over your body if this is strictly an oral reaction i would look into more the Finnish on your device what kind of cartridge are you using? try Dripping and getting a glass drip tip or some different material if your using a bad brand you could be exposing yourself to a metal u didn't know u had an allergy to or some material that is in the paint by getting a drip tip for example a glass one you are eliminating one of the possibility if it doesn't go away in a week or so i would look into a new device but drip tips are cheep(in my opinion you get more flavor from dripping anyways) and its an easy way for you to rule out an allergy w/o replacing your entire device

KariS, that outfit is taking you to the cleaners! Throw that thing away and get a real e-cig! $80 for 5 cartos. You can get a Joye 510 or KR-808 for less, and the cartos are way, way less, plus they can be refilled. You can also get the liquid in either pg or vg, or a mix of the two. It's going to be much cheaper for you to ditch what you have and start over.

Bruiser...that is exactly what I'm looking for. I've been reading all about the refillables, but wasn't sure who to go with. Do you know the websites for what you are recommending? TIA!

How is your mouth?

What type of kit are you looking for exactly? How much do you want to spend? Do you mind filling your own cartos or do you want prefilled?

Maybe until your mouth clears up, try the Ecopure line. Cignot carries it. It's a little pricey but it's supposed to be very good 'pure' juice. My mom's did go away after a couple weeks. But I'd be concerned too if I were you.
