As others have pointed out, many flavourings have PG in them. Suspecting that I may have mistaken a fluoride allergy for a PG allergy after starting to vape, I ordered from Virgin Vapor | Electronic Cigarette Organic e-Liquid | Electronic Cigarettes and tried 100% VG juices. Hers are truly 100% VG and I highly recommend her Absolute line and her option of Eco. Her customer service is quick and very personable. I have not yet found other sites that offer truly 100% VG with good customer service.

VV was the vendor I was going to suggest. Because Johnson Creek and some other companies say their juice is PG free but there will be a "tiny" amount in them due to flavorings. I'm also not surprised ejuicemonkeys were able to help you, they are terribly nice folks and will bend over backwards for ya.

Virgin Vapor also has clean stuff, and you can also try them too in addition to ejuicemonkeys. I would email Annette from the site over there, and just briefly tell her what is going on. I believe she will be able to fix you up with something, whether it be truly 100% PG-free juice, and/or juice with no flavorings, zero nic, etc. She is a custom mixer, and can mix your order to your exact specifications. She is also very careful not to cross-contaminate.

i'm glad you are able to narrow down this way. No VG, or no nic, or no flavorings, etc.

This is no different than a hypo-allergenic food elimination diet, which I've been thru, and which is the gold standard of tracking down food allergies. The same can be done with e-juice.

Still not completely convinced it's a PG issue

It could even be the alcohol in flavorings you just don't know. It could be an allergy to a nut in the flavorings, as someone pointed out about tree nuts. There is, I believe, even a little PG sometimes in the actual extraction process of some nicotines.

That's why it will be important for you to stick with vendors who can customize for you.

I'm not a doctor and cannot gauruntee this is safe. But having non-alergenic rhinitus (the generic term for people with MCS that aren't nuts in the head) I can tell you an allergenist cannot test for chemicals. If you really want to test if its the PG or VG for yourself search for a e-cig vendor still offering PEG400. Terrible stuff, you DO NOT want to vape it regularly. However, it gives you something not related to the other two. Get the smallest bottles you can of pure PG VG and PEG400 and 3 clean cartos. Then without mixing anything with them try a few small vapes off each a day at a time to see if you have any slight reactions.

Well....that's gonna tick me off if I make trip to see a specialist and he can't test for chemicals!

I was gonna post an update today. Good a place as any for it....

Seeing the allergist 09/05. Won't bother with another update until after that. If memory serves, ten days with no problems on unflavored, 18MG VG. Even vaped a bit of the Johnson Creek PG Free I have sitting around with no reaction. I realize it could take a day or two on it to get a response, but didn't want to push it. Had a couple of Benadryl in pocket that day, just in case.;-)

In response to Racehorse, Alan and Sharon @ eJuiceMonkeys have bent over backwards, forwards, sideways and even stood on their heads for me I think! Super folks! Afraid they're stuck with me!

Biggest, best news? NO ANALOGS!:)

Wel, this is going to be quick and anti-climactic.....

Allergist is sure that PG is not the problem and that any issues I might be having will pass. Said to try it again and if hives show up, pop a Benedryl and try again in a month or so. Said that with this type of reaction, hives are usually as bad as it gets. (Extremely abridged version!)

He was also cool about the vaping. Said if it's working, go for it, rather see that than cigarettes.

Again, thanks to all for your kind thoughts and ideas!

BTW.....4th week with NO analogs!

Seems to indicate that there is a flavoring component that is your trigger...

Amazing that you've stuck with it for 4 weeks in my mind. I doubt I could have done the same in the same situation.

Not bad really. Straight, 24 mg VG has been working like a champ. Sometimes feel like I'm vaping vegetable oil, but it passes. I have decided that my wife's dogs do stink, tho!

That is hilarious! About the dog's I mean, I keep telling "him" the dogs need a bath, but he can't smell them. Almost embarrassing the things I smell now that I couldn't before! Using a lot of lysol these days. And washing the dogs bed weekly instead of biweekly and if he gives them a bath in between because they stink!

Hi deb from aussie land..ive been vaping for 4mths i started with si products.decided after a mth or so.to go looking for some different flavours..sorry if im writting in the wrong place..im using my mobile which makes it a bit tricky to workout how this site works..i found amazing vendor called alice in vapeland so love there flavours.white rabbit my fav.,now im wondering could i have a allery to vg.since si do have high pg ratios, and my thoart has never had any issues with there juice.execpt for water melon it does cause a dry feeling in my thoart.but when i use Aiv juice my thoart gets really bad..like i have a coating i cant swallow.it ruins my whole vaping fun..i put the water melon down to flavouring.but aiv only use natural flavours..so has anyone had problems wth the vg coating on there thoart?

"48 hours plus on 18mg, unflavored VG with no problems."

No real suprise there, for me, glycerol is a natural body metabolite of fat digestion (its the carbohydrate part that the body chops off fatty acids)

Although some people have water (h20) allergies etc, I personally think that a glycerol allergy would be much much rarer than a PG allergy (which is reasonably well documented).

Hi, just need to put in my 2 cents. I am also allergic to so much that I could write a novel. I had the same reactions as you, including going back to analogs ( 1.5 packs a day) for about 3 more days. My allergic reaction got worse. So I went back to vaping, I gave myself 2 weeks to get through it with lots of Benedryl. As long as my throat didn't close, I knew I would be ok. Well, I now vape 50/50 and enjoy without any problems. Most allergies take quite a while ( many days) to clear out of your system. I went to my GP during all of this and he said that I was probably going through withdrawal from all the poisons in the analogs and that was throwing my system all haywire. Either way, I was determined.
I am now 29 days analog free after a 30 year addiction and several tries with gum and patches. I will never go back and having a blast in the vaping world.
You can do this, I know this is a fight, just keep hanging in there!
