I never thought of that. However, being able to see the wick I "self-taught" myself how far to open the juice control based on the color and saturation of the wick -- this thing will go from completely closed to "your coil is totally submerged and juice is flowing out the air holes into your lap." FWIW, I was running .6 Ohm / 25W with the juice control open 1/2 turn.

I was going to oblige you. Having never used a clapton, I have none on hand. But I'm always willing to try something new. Dropped into my local B&M looking for a pre-made. $7.50 each, $15.00 for a pair. Wow. As per the kid behind the counter "because of the amount of wire it takes to make one." I tossed some in my fasttech cart for my next order though.

As a consolation, below is another tank pic on my friend's Slug.

The other video / pic I want to make is dry firing the coils inside the tank (red glowing monster atomizer). I started to, but then thought twice about the heat possibly cracking the inner glass. It doesn't ship with a spare inner glass and I haven't had it empty and near a caliper at the same time yet to see if it's a common glass tube or not.

I did verify that the outer tank dimensions are 23mm x 62.5mm (with the drip tip).

You should try making some clapton wire. Single core really isn't that hard. All you need is a drill, a couple of fishing line swivels, a 2x4, a nail a bench vice, and some core wire and wrap wire. You use the swivels to attach the core wire to the nail in the 2x4, which is held by the bench vice. then you just put the other end in the drill, and start wrapping.

I don't use anything but the spool to hold my wrap wire though. Takes a bit of trial and error to get it right, but sooner or later it's easy. The fused claptons are the real PITA, because you can't scrunch them up if you get a gap in the outer wire.

It does take quite a lot of wire though, for the outer wrap.

I really want one of those.

Being able to see the juice start to flood would hopefully save you from cleaning up a larger mess than if you couldn't though .....right? Did you have a leak or flood, if so were you able to catch it in time to make a difference vs not being able to see it? Or is your experience that the design is flawed and that issue would happen reguardless, if so maybe using the same "clear chamber" design on a different atty would accomplish the "learning" goal that I was looking at as a reason to suggest this atty to those new to rebuildables? Not sure if if the clear chamber would fit anything else, but it would be cool.

Side note: I had an RDA that had a clear outer sleeve (forgot the name but it was made by the "counsel of vapor" I think, and it was just an alright atty, but being able to see when it was time to redrip was useful for sure. Obviously in a tank the feature would be more useful and educational, unless Im missing something.

Anyhow, thanks for brainstorming with me.

I broke down and made some last night. After I made fused, I made some single core as well. Using what I had on hand I came up with 28g kanthal wrapped in 34g. I plan on building today and posting a short video of it firing.

Mine was user error. I left the juice flow open all the way the first time I tried to fill it. So the juice basically went from the bottle , across the deck, and onto the floor.

I haven't had a leak or flood yet. I pull the wick all the way through the wick channels and snip it even with the edge of the build deck. I also don't vape at super high watts so I don't need much flow.

The only other juice I've had outside the tank was the usual condensation I get from vape backflow out the air slots and onto the mod.

I do have to agree this would be a good first time RTA. First time I forgot to open the juice flow I noticed the lack of vapor on the second or third hit and was able to easily see that the cotton was getting dry. Additionally, if you put too much cotton it bunches up against the glass and looks funky. That's what prompted me to pull the cotton through the channels and snip instead of just stuffing it from the top and hoping I cut it at the right length.

Dangit, I want to see this thing firing with some claptons.

Had trouble uploading the video via TapaTalk, but here it is. No comments on my coiling please. It's my first Clapton, let alone dual clapton. This thing hits like a freight train.

Cool thing about the video... You can see that after a second or two of firing with no air cooling, instead of making "cloudy" vapor, it just makes heat and you can see the air melting around the coil. :)

That's .38 Ohms at 35W (right at 10amps). The coils are Kanthal 28G (fused - dual core) wrapped in 34G.

My vaping buddy just got a small shipment of these in.

My first impressions:
Ton of Airflow - Dual 3/4" or so air slots. Closed just about all the way is nearly perfect for my MTL vaping style.

Flavor - Plenty.

Top Fill - Erlkonigin Style - CLOSE THE JUICE CONTROL FIRST.

Juice Control - Turn the drip tip

Drip Tip - Fits standard 510, but needs the Alleria drip tip or tool to work juice control.

Glass Combustion Chamber - Too cool. :)

I'll update after I've vaped it a bit more... So far this thing is awesome.View attachment 528427 View attachment 528428 View attachment 528429 View attachment 528430 View attachment 528431 View attachment 528432 View attachment 528433 View attachment 528434 View attachment 528435
