Angela. I don't know if you've noticed but your British and as such don't account for anything in US Law (or anything else US related for that matter)
Funily enough, I had noticed that I was UK-based :p

As a UK lawyer, I am well aware that I would not be entitled to join in, but, that doesn't mean that I do not have an interest in following this case.

You will note that I didn't ask if I could add my name..... just if it was possible for others to do so :D

Thanks for that Angela. I saw that straight away. Even got me to thinking... The more, the merrier.

I'm a long time veteran of Mechanical Engineering. Basic physics state that a larger mass has greater potential inertial energy. The more weight, the harder it is to slow, stop, or ignore.
Justme,
You spoke to Lika, but I will respond as I am listed on the brief. The law firm assured us as an Ad Hoc group, we spoke on behalf of all consumers. Our names are merely the names of those who filed. As a matter of fact anyone wishing to have their name listed on the alliance for any further action may do so.
Bonnie
I applaud the effort of the group responsible for this; it takes initiative and balls to stand on a firing range with a target in your hands.

While greater coordination is to be welcomed, having all action through one body would not be good. Particularly on the local level, but not necessarly only, action by miscellaneous groups can be more effective; it shows grass roots support that cannot so easily be written off as the expected voice of aan organisation. It's much harder to defeat / squash an 'enemy' that is dispersed among the people than a single target on the top of a hill. It's better for the health and vitality of us and our goals. A mixed approach is best. By all means let's get organised; but not to just leave all the thinking, decisions and action to that organisation.

KB,

I think we’re pretty much in agreement so I don't want this to sound argumentative. I just wanted to reiterate that it really isn’t an either/or situation. The group will hopefully do a great many things, but let’s think about the grass roots concept: Think of it a central point for dissemination of proven information. One of the biggest issues I see in every debate about e-cigs is the fact that there has been no formal testing and the “facts” we use are scattered all over the web.

Think how much easier it would be to engage a local politician or news crew if you could present dozens of articles, thousands of testimonials from a group with ten thousand members? Wouldn’t that put more credence to your argument than a handful of printed pages off internet blogs and a big sheet of posterboard?

Lacey, Lika (and many others) have done a fantastic job of rallying individual efforts and moving more quickly than any organized group could. I laud those efforts with all my heart. At this point not following up on those efforts by having a centralized users group with a web presence reminds me of the news footage of rebels throwing rocks at tanks. Not that there isn’t a place for any and all fronts, just that we need continued and organized events as well.

The building of this organization has been (painfully) slow just so that everyone has a chance to voice their opinion and vote on every minute detail. Any Board will be limited to day-to-day administration. Users decide the group’s stance based on public vote. I've taken great pains NOT to appear to be establishing any kind of kingdom and will gladly hand over the reigns if anyone wants to take this ball and run with it.

I really don’t know how much more democratic you can be than that.

I think there are many of us wondering if we can/should add our names as well.
I would certainly PM my information to whomever needs it.

Deadcat -

I do believe that if you are interested in participating in future activities, Lika, JustJulie, Bonniegirl, TheIllustratedMan, and Tazcat have noted that they are more than willing for you to PM them and make your presence known. :)

I want to THANK EVERYONE that was involved in this effort :thumb:

The only way we are going to make a difference is to ORGANIZE and that means everybody not just a few...and DON'T alienate people who support the cause ... no matter where they are from.....it's there cause too

Never forget the enemy of my enemy is my friend :sneaky:

Since we are a GRASS ROOTS cause we need all the help we can get
We also need GOOD PRESS coverage...Draw public opinion to our cause

We don't have the resources of a large organization like the NRA,CRPA
We cannot BUY good press so we need to get A LOT people's support
Then the press can't ignore what we have to say or bury it on page 50

Only then will the good weather politicos who see a benefit to supporting us come on board....(money or a popular cause that will lead to money) (Truth,Justice>>> the way it really is)

Unless some one can use the usual method and pay them for there support

REALITY WHAT A CONCEPT 8-o

Please forgive me for taking so long to post this . . . we've been waiting for confirmation that there's a way to add people without folks having to petition the court and pay filing fees. See--trying to save everybody some money. ;)

For those who wish to add their names to the AES roster in support of the brief, we'd love to have you. You can PM your name, address, phone number, and email address to whichever of the following folks you wish:

Lika
Bonniegirl,
JustJulie
Tazcat
TheIllustratedMan

If you wish to be included but feel uncomfortable providing all the information requested, provide as much as you feel comfortable giving. Please be aware that whatever information you provide may be given to the court should Judge Leon request it. But other than that, you can be assured that your personal information will remain confidential.

Now, having made my AES announcement, I want to say something on my own behalf: YOU GUYS ROCK! Seriously.

I'm going to add my thoughts, as well, here....Be prepared, 'cause Vicks is climbing on the damn soap box again!!!

In the 20ish minutes it's taken me to read this entire thread (minus browsing the brief, but reading the comments, only) I see the biggest obstacle to us .... and that would be us, ourselves.

This thread alone, out of the thousands of threads here - almost errupted into yet another flame war - and it started on a positive note. Why?

Are we all not vapers? Yes, of different walks of life, on different continents, with different governments, but we are all former smokers (or currently smoking a lot less than we did!!!) thanks to a little gizmo that the Chinese invented, patented, packaged, and sold.

We are all fighting here for a greater good and a HUGE shift in public perception - our right to vape. We need to remember that! We've got a lot of people on here who have differing opinions - and aren't afraid to voice them.... and they're on opposite sides of the spectrum....

'and in this corner.......' I see those who have hope, and refuse to give up...... Never afraid to roll up their sleeves and get the really hard work done... never too busy to offer a kind word or support for someone who's feeling the pressure........ always there, guiding with answers..... always there, trying to find the answers to the questions yet unspoken.

'and in this corner.......' I see those who have seen the writing on the wall, who tirelessly research the back history, and quote it often. These are the ones who keep us grounded, reminding us all of the precariousness of our legal position in this struggle we find ourselves embroiled in.

In the middle are plenty of us who gravitate toward one side of the spectrum or the other, drawn by these two differing schools of opinion.

But, at this point, they are still just OPINIONS! The debate is not over, the legal case has not been decided, the fat lady has NOT sung.

WHY ARE WE FIGHTING OVER OPINIONS????? THEY'RE LIKE A--HOLES - EVERYONE HAS ONE!!!!!!!!

When we squabble amongst ourselves, we give ASH amunition - and we know they troll this board! (The source they quoted for the ...... additive to e-juice was THIS BOARD!) We give them us, at our worst behaviour, to parade in front of the masses who have NOT made up their minds yet - to prove that we're nothing more than a 'senseless group of addicts, afraid that we're going to have our drugs taken away from us!'

When I joined ECF, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back in March, I was, for the first time, part of something greater than my own ego. Frightening, yes, but liberating at the same time. We are a movement, a driving force for a societal change, and we've been noticed by those who are more entrenched, wealthier, and unified in their goals.

UNIFIED IN THEIR GOALS... we attain this, we stand a better-than-average fighting chance of winning our right to vape.

ONE purpose, ONE goal, ONE MILLION voices raised with ONE message!

Then, and only then, can we prevail.
