Just an update for those of you who are following - Since about 10:30 am on 1-09-11, I've only had one analog. I woke up tonight at 9:00pm with that crackhead shakyness withdrawal, but pushed it aside, and went about my morning (it's night, but it's morning to me). Started brewing coffee, and went to take a shower. Jitters, nervousness, restlessness...and that was all in the first 10 minutes of waking up.

I'm typing this right now sipping my coffee and puffing on my Manual 808 with a 24mg carto. Thanks for all the support everyone, I'll keep coming back to this community.

It's only those who've been through it before who can honestly say they understand what you're going through.

You are doing great! I use the V4L products also and use the XL manual. I use the 36mg juice so in my opinion using 24mg you are doing especially well. You should visit the V4L forum...a nice helpful group of people there...plus you get to keep up to date on the sales. I believe the 28% off juice sale is still going on.

Excellant work bro! I am always impressed at those that can switch-over cold turkey. It's amazing to me.. very good.

There is a wealth of information on this forum. You can find out how to use and operate all the different types of PV's, the batteries, the atomizers, the carts or cartomizers, the mods, the various juices, or learn how to do-it-yourself.

There are sub-forum support groups for French people, single people, people w/ADD, and those that like to help others. There are tutorials, and classes, libraries and places to tinker with equipment.

Just about anything you could ever need, want, or imagine... is covered SOMEWHERE in this forum. All you need to do is ask, and some nice person will come along and point you in the right direction.

Welcome home :)

Hey, Visine, I just want to pile on with everybody else and offer some support.

I smoked for 39 years and could not imagine life without analogs. I smoked and vaped for 2 months before I switched completely to vaping. Analogs were my friends. Whenever my life was absolutely in the toilet, analogs never failed to make me feel at least a little better. A mental trick that helped me was admitting that my best friend was a sneaky, malicious little so-and-so that wanted to kill me. I told myself, when I reached for a smoke, "I have a new best friend now. My PV is a much nicer friend and I'd rather vape than smoke." Then I vaped instead of lighting an analog. Eventually, I believed what I was telling myself and I never once felt deprived or abandoned.

That may or may not help you but one never knows what little tidbits will be helpful so I'm throwing this out there.

Also, while you are detoxing, drink LOTS of water (need to while vaping, anyway) to flush the toxins out of your system.

You're doing great! Keep it up!

I wanted to echo my sentiments of support as well as offer the small changes I made that helped me remove the analogs almost immediately.

Being a 1-2 PAD smoker, closer to 2 if I was on the computer or watching TV, I understand where you are coming from. I sat down one night and looked at my triggers, the little things I did in my routine that caused me to want to smoke. The first was getting into my truck I immediately wanted to light up when that happened. I also wanted to light up when I had coffee, and when I was outside doing anything.

I made a deal with myself that if I wanted to smoke it has to be outside. As I type this it is 19 degrees here with a windchill of about 4. Even in my garage it is brutally cold, so that in and of itself was something that made it harder. I also removed all of the empty or partially full packs from the house and moved them to the car. Lighters, ashtrays, and anything else analog related was removed and placed in my truck. So if I want an analog, I need to go outside, get in my truck and retrieve them, this may involve putting on my shoes or something else small, but it is still a hassle which is the point.

I took a trip to dallas and came back new years day to find my kit in the mailbox. At that time I had 8 smokes left in a pack in my truck. As of right now 4 of those are still there and I have every intention of letting them turn to dust right there in my console. I have probably been more fortunate than most in that once I started vaping, my cravings were the but very manageable, however the idea is to limit the number you smoke until you can eliminate them completely. After meals are still hard for me, and the 4 I did smoke were all after a meal. I also made a deal with myself that I would have to wait 15 minutes after a meal to smoke an analog. Until that point I could vape all I wanted, and I found out quickly that in 15 minutes the cravign had passed just with using the PV.

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck and hope you are able to continue down this path.

Hey Webbcm127, Nice to see another person from Wenatchee. visinedrops is my son. I've smoked since Vietnam and this is my first time trying the e-cig. Wish I could try different flavors before buying them. I would hate to buy some and find out I don't like them, that would be like throwing my money away. Oh well, I try some from my son once in a while to see if they work for me.

Was tough for me also, 3 packs a day for over 15 years. Very very heavy smoker. I had to keep the nic high at the start, 36mg stuff. I even keep a carto loaded with 50mg home made death juice to hit if cravings are real bad (not recomended to anyone). I can keep the cravings under controll, and have even stepped down to 18mg on some days. Nice to be able to mix your own juice-especially the life saver death juice.

Hello, Lee. It's damned nice to meet ya.

Juice that you don't like today, you might like next week, or next month. It depends on the juice, when it was mixed, and whether or not you can stop smoking altogether for long enough for your taste buds to recover. Never throw away e-juice!

There's a classifieds forum here where you can post unwanted juice to sell or trade. Read the sticky threads there before jumping in, if you decide to go that route.

Good luck with your PV of choice!

I haven't read all the posts in the thread so I apologize if this has been suggested already but have you tried LR cartos and attys' yet? I found the extra flavor, vapor, etc to be very satisfying. Oh ya, try lots of flavors and a good mod (VV if possible) makes a huge difference. Just my $0.02.

Best Regards

You are exactly where you need to be to succed rock bottom. I would wish you good luck but it's not about luck. Your addiction has controlled your life for so long that all you really need is a desire and determination to stop. I'm going to be honest with you. It's hard! Sometimes it's really hard. There are days when the 30+ juices will not curb the craving. I don't want tobacco flavored juice. I want a damn cigarette! The only thing you have is your resolve and the people here. And to tell you the truth I'm glad it's hard at times. It makes quitting analogs mean something. Meaning that you are in charge of your decisions and life. I have almost 3 months analog free and I can say that it is the smallest sacrifice to make in order to quit. I've tried other times using patches and gum and this is the longest I've ever been without an analog. This is the hardest vice I've had to quit. I stopped drinking and doing drugs over 8 yrs ago and all I've learned and am still learning comes into hand all the time. So all those sayings they use in AA and NA help. One day at a time. The only thing that can make you start is you. (don't blame life on you deciding to start again because life will always have it's ups and downs.) All we have is today. ( don't project you being smoke free into the future. (i.e. Don't think I can never have another cigarette as long as I live. Concentrate on only being smoke free today.) All this was edited to apply to smoking but you get the point. The other thing that helps once you see that you can get one day is to remember that if you made it through yesterday that today is just another yesterday in the present. Above all else talk to someone who really wants you to succed before you want to have a cigarette and tell yourself that after your done talking to that person or people if you still feel like having one that you can. Do this before picking up that 1st cigarette and youll be suprised how well it works. This is the Best advice I can give. After all its what has kept me from drinking for so long. Here's the bad news. Ultimately it is your decision. Just remember that you don't have to make it alone. I have faith in you. You can do it. You just have to believe it yourself. If you feel like picking up a cigarette please PM me 1st or head over to a chat. Promise yourself at least that.

I thought CASEACE79's post was amazing, but hard to read. I took the liberty of editing his post in the quote below because I think his message is spot on for anyone struggling with analogs. No offense is intended nor is any insult implied. Spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. are just tools to help better convey the message. You don't have to be a master of written English to know what the hell you're talking about and CASEACE79 knows what the hell he's talking about.

You are exactly where you need to be to succeed. Rock bottom.

Just wanted to add my voice in support of what your doing. I smoked for 16 years, 2 packs a day at the end. It was mostly mental for me..I had to tell myself that I was still getting the nicotine my boday was craving, and that I still had the analog feeling of hand to mouth. Personally I dont seem to get the same satisfaction from carts, I drip. But I just ordered a small tank mod for convience, and this may help you if you have a more satisfying experiance w/out a cart. I know it can be a pain, but when your thinking it just might be to much of a hassle, remember why you hate analogs. I was off analogs completly in one week. Good luck to you brother, the people here are truely wonderful and full of support. We are ALL behind you!!!

Hey, Kevin, I started out at 16mg/ml liquid, NO SMOKES, but soon increased my liquid to 24mg/ml. I was in control with that. Hungry as heck, a little high energy, but ok.
In a couple months, I started dropping down nic, and now at 12mg and waay less vaping (with NO sense of withdrawal, by the way), am totally happy! Not one cigarette, almost two years now.
We can do this!

if I tell myself I can have an analog AFTER I vape, it doesn't wake up the twitching junkie part of my brain.
That line cracked me up. This is a most excellent thread. Even though someone else asked the question I feel like everyone is answering me, since I'm in exactly the same spot. It has really helped a lot, thanks.

I received the E-cig for Christmas, almost a month ago, and I've found it difficult to incorporate into my life. I just today bought some juice as I've made the decision to only smoke analogs outside. I will vape in my house and in my car only, perhaps outside, but I will not smoke analogs inside anymore.

I really wish you luck, I've been smoking a long time myself and would love to just stop. However, vaping is very new to me, so I'll balance the two for awhile until I can find my favorite way to vape where I don't want an analog anymore.

Yeah I tend to do that. Lol. No offense taken and Ty for trying to make it easier for everyone to understand. And thank you so much for the kind words. Just trying to share what I know has worked. I want to say that I am by no means an expert on addiction counciling or even about life. All I have to offer is my experience, strength, and hope. If it helps anyone, everything I have been through good and bad has meaning. Ty again.

I suggest ordering a sample pack through Vapor Room. If it is your first time ordering with them they throw in two bottle of your choice for free. The samples are small so that if you don't like them you can either give them away or trade with others. Also check in the community forums at the bottom of the home page to see if there is a vaping group in your town. Groups are a great way to sample flavors before you buy. And if they don't have a group maybe you can start one. We have a group here in Vegas that meets once a month at a different restaurant each time. We sample and trade juices and eat our meals in a spirit of fellowship and support.
