Just a quick question...what's the best way to remove tobacco smoke smell from...everything in a room?

I just went through this with my car. It took 4 big bottles of Febreeze, and I treated it for the third time yesterday, but my non-smoking, never-smoking, militant anti-smoking neighbor climbed in, sniffed thoroughly and said Wow, I've never smelled a smoker's car that didn't stink. I can't smell cigarettes at all in here.

Spray everywhere. Lift the cushions out and spray all sides. Wash the walls, the ceiling, the floor. If it's your bedroom, take the bed apart and spray the mattress completely, the box springs, and wash down the frame. Throw out anything that isn't worth spraying or washing. Cigarette smoke gets in everywhere, and it doesn't take much to smell things back up. In my car I had to take out the seats and get everything dripping wet.

You should take everything to the laundry that can be easily washed.
For the walls there are a number of good products to clean them with, try a product I used when I was painting homes.
Krud Kutter is a product used to clean the walls before painting and it will remove all traces of the smoke, yellowing and dirt from your walls and best of all it's a green product!
I've also included a video on how to clean your knotty pine walls.

Best wishes on your success quitting!

In the land of no hills and red dirt
+1 on higher nic juice.
+1 on seeing the other vaper in town. Have him check your gear. If your battery is dying on your 808, it ain't gonna do you much good.
+1 on febreezing your house, etc., etc.

In addition:

1. Quit buying your favorite analogs. Buy the cheapest, nastiest :censored: you can.
2. See if the other vaper thinks you need another or better mod.
3. Make two commitments. The first is that you will vape, but not smoke, in your house.
4. The second is that you will try at least three good vapes before you go outside and light up an analog.

Number 4 is the most important. If I tell myself I absolutely can't have something, it messes with my head and want it more.
But in the beginning, if I tell myself I can have an analog AFTER I vape, it doesn't wake up the twitching junkie part of my brain. It's a technique I used when taking my young kids to restaurants. They ALWAYS wanted soft drinks. I never told them no, but insisted they had to have a glass of water first. Half of the time, they wouldn't want the soda after drinking the water.

Just a quick question...what's the best way to remove tobacco smoke smell from...everything in a room?

Haven't gotten to the end of the thread yet ... but all of the suggestions I've seen so far are good ones. One I will add though is to lay dryer sheets about (e.g. Bounce). I've used this method to remove the smell from a car by cleaning the ashtray and then placing a sheet in there ... and leaving it. Worked pretty well. Don't know if it would with such a large volume of air ... but worth a shot.

Good luck, stay strong, and happy vaping!

Very new here and have now been analog free for a month and a half. I have realy been just lurking, reading, learning for the past couple weeks, but wanted to chime in here and tell you what worked for me, being a menthol smoker. I have tried several menthols and none got me off analogs like this one. Wicked sick menthol from juicyvapors rocks! It even got my best friend's hubby off analogs, it is just that good. They offer pv/vg also. I hope this will help you, it certainly helped us!

The suggestions on here are great. I completely agree with trying 24-36 mgs/ml. I'm chiming in because i haven't seen anyone mention supplementing vaping with other smokeless tobacco products. There are some people who need some of the tobacco alkaloids as well and use snus. Check out the smokeless subforum if higher nic levels and a bit of time don't quite do the trick..

The beauty of vaping is that you don't have to do it all at once. Every cig avoided is a win. I wasn't planning to quit smoking so I came at this from a different direction, and had no expectations about how i "should" be doing it. Over the course of 6 weeks, as i got my nicotine levels right, found flavors that worked and learned how to use my kr8, my smoking dropped away. I told myself that if i really wanted a cig i could have one- and gradually i stopped wanting one. My last cig was over a year ago- so gradual worked pretty well for me.

Good luck!

Hi, my name is Kevin, and I'm addicted to cigarettes.

I've read through a lot of different things on here, and have come to a descision on my preferred e-cig...an 808.

With that said, that was also almost 2 months ago. Since then I've tried using it, but failed...miserably. The standard uncomfortable feeling that I need an analog would smack me in the face, and I would give in to it.

I've been smoking, off and on, since I was in the 3rd grade. I used to walk home from elementary school smoking some remnant of an analog I found in an ashtray somewhere, so I have no real memory of being a non smoker. I've tried to quit with the usual suspects, gum, patch, cold turkey, and was almost successful until I encountered a hard time in my life, that not only put me into a depression, but also put the thought in my mind, "What difference does it make if I quit smoking?" So, I started back up again. That was about 2 years ago.

I finally, as of today about 10 minutes before I began writing this, threw away the dish I was using for my ashtray, and the four empty cigarette packs sitting on my desk in front of me. Almost in tears smelling the stench in my room, trying to air it out with a fan thinking, "I'm tired of this stupid smoking thing, and I want it to STOP!"

So, I'm going balls to the wall. I'm absolutely sick of analogs. The stench is getting to me, the coughing first thing in the morning, and the stigma of being labelled a "smoker". I have a lot of ongoing mental anguish because I smoke...and I want that to stop too...the only way to do it is not to smoke.

So...here it goes. All my chips are on the table...PV, you're my only friend.

Looks like we need to get someone some awesome Tobacco flavors and also some awesome dessert flavors with some high nicotine!!

I think once you make the leap and just chain vape for a little while you'll realize the look of the e cig will mean absolutely nothing to you aslong as it's supplying a crap ton of vapor and throat hit. Once you have gotten past that anxiety stage, it's all much easier. you'll be more open to new flavors and also more open to a different look and what not.

take my email address down flagreekguy@yahoo.com if there is anything ANYTHING i can do to help you let me know. No more tears Kevin. you are officially no longer a analog smoker. Welcome to the digital world. We are going to take care of you and make sure you love your new life.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Air out your house, clean off all the ash and tar off your furniture and tables and prepare for a wild ride!!

the 808 is a good starter kit. but if you aren't a fan of cartomizers (or the poly fill inside of them) maybe direct dripping is a better fit for you.

Hey guys, let's get some answers from the pro's here. what you guys think? bottom feeder box mod? high nic e juice? maybe an applewood tobacco or a USA made RY4 with high nic to start?

if the 808 isn't working for this cat then he needs to move on. Not every newbie can do a Ego or an 808 and be happy with it. 5v bottom feeder box mod maybe?

Kevin, just sit tight and watch this thread get huge with a bunch of pro's coming up with a suitable kit for you brother 8)

Visine -

I wish you the best of luck in your new adventure. As many others have said this is an awesome place for support and information. You can do it, one unsmoked analog at a time you can do it. Experiment, ask questions, you'll find what's right for you.

My mother was a 1.5 pack a day smoker for 45 years. I set her up on an eGo kit in September and she's now 16 weeks tobacco free. And she was one of those people that would bite your head off if you said anything to her about quitting. She really loves the Black Beauty I recently passed on to her. If she can quit, anybody can.

You can do it and we're here for you.

I found that once the habit part was destroyed (having a smoke after a meal, etc.) the cravings are nothing.

.

LOTS of great advice here for you!! I'm going to copy and paste a few suggestions I made to a friend that is struggling too and altered it to fit your questions...

I glaced over the other suggestions briefly.. so forgive me if I repeat anything... also.. always keep in mind YMMV (your milage may vary).. what works for one, may not work for another!!

First thing.. absolutely: stop smoking in the car, stop smoking in the house, don't make it easy on yourself. If it takes effort to light up, then you have to think about it first.

Second.. you may be one of the ones that needs those 'other' things in the cigs.. the MAOI's etc. DeVap did some extensive studies on it, and if I had the link I'd link you to it.. but do a search.. it's here on ECF somewhere. There are some of us (myself included) that get hooked on some of the other ingredients in the ciggies besides just the nic, so we need to replace THOSe as well.

SO.. go check out the nicotine alternative forum section. CES mentioned alternatives. I tried that.. first the snus- didn't care for it, so I used the snuff. I liked that much better (because it was like walking around 'smelling' pleasant things) IF you'd like some samples, LMK and I'll send ya a bunch.
I also went to my dr, talked about what was going on, and asked about a MAOI alternative. Since I have heart problems, taking an MAOI was not an option, so he put me on Wellbutrin for the short term. (still on it)

Next... even with all of those things.. I still could not stop the last 3-5 smokes a day. Just couldn't drop them. I tried messing with the nic levels, PV devices, and tried every flavor of juice I could find. (all the while wondering how everyone else could just quit!)

FINALLY I found a PV set up that I loved... THEN I found a juice that became my "all day vape"... and suddenely I quit. I just stopped smoking. I dont even know the exact day it happened. Not even sure how long it's been.. I think about 3 months.

My point is.. it took a lot of factors for it to happen for me.. all the cards had to fall into place.. and then it was SO easy, I didn't even realize it was happening! So go easy on yourself. We are all different, we all need different things, different juice levels, PV's, additives, etc... there is NO one perfect answer for anyone. As long as you want this, it will happen. (and if you have a cig.. it's OK.. eventually you will find what works for you!)

I hope this helps,
wishing you the best!!

PS> after I did find my 'all day' I upped my nic at that time, and found that helped a little too

Wow, what a lot of great advice here. I was one of those who had no intention of quitting my 35 year old habit. E-cigs were just a new gadget for me to get around the ban of smoking in public. Also my husband has COPD so he needed to quit to live. After messing around w/ecigs for over a month, I realized that I actually preferred them to analogs. It's cheaper (in the long run), and I'm not worried about starting a fire. My husband quit about a month and a half after I did. He smoked for over 40 years. He says he still wants a cigarette but then he just vapes away and is fine. Don't give up on it. Check out all the great resources on this site and I'm betting you'll be fine too.

Oh on the car get this stuff called Ozium (sp?). It's a spray and is amazing in vehicles. I'll second the murphy's oil soap for the panelling.

I hear you too man, i am in the same boat,or was. the day i got the e-cig i threw 3 packs of empty camels into my desk trash and looked in,there was at least 3 empties in there also and got the same thought and feeling of hating the cigs and what theyre doing to me.also started way too young and can relate to the no real non-smoker memmories. My wife and i got the joy510s and were blown away with it,i refused to buy another pack and she had 4 left in her pack. the 4 cigs are still right in her pack and the money we saved not buying cigs hads paid for the starter kit already.i went into the live chat here to get advice on battery power and things and got the idea from the many helpful people here that i should try the ego. its the greatest thing yet and i am one day from being smoke free for a week!! i can already feel the difference. i use 18 mg nicotine and thats got to be enough as i urge no butts, i do however love the vape and at this point i can see doing this forever.so from near 2 packs a day to 0 just vaping a nice flavor nicotine and not stinking up anyplace i go or smelling like burnt butts is amazing to me.
I allways said, maybe i hit 20 and quit butts, then maybe when i am 30, well i am 40 now and i did it and you can too.
the ego is great but the 510 was good enough, just loved to smoke so wanted to get more use per battery and not keep waiting on the charger.so as of now, wifes vaping the 510 cig style and i got the EGO and life is wonderful in the quitting smoking department. Thanks for reading this and hope its helpful and i hope you stick to it, to hell with the greedy tobacco companies who raise the prices to rediculous # and give nothing ,only take life, and health. The biggest thing for me is i thought i enjoyed smoking, now i Know i enjoy this and wouldnt even think of going back.GOOD LUCK YOU CAN DO IT!

Good luck on your journey, you have a great support group and the will to quit. I have to agree with all that I have read so far.
Do get a higher nice e-liquid for use only when you feel the really bad cravings. Use the lower mg during the rest of the day.
Hope the link helps with cleaning the walls!

You are definitely not alone! I have quit smoking and started up again for the past 10 years. Its a constant battle, but one thing that works for me is if I tell myself, "I'm just not going to smoke for today". I take each day as it comes to me. I hate the stereotype that smokers have, I hate being looked down upon and that has been my main reason for quitting besides my health. Vaping has taken the edge off and kept me content. Granted, I still have urges, but I choose not to act on them....for now.

Having the right product makes a world of a difference as well. When I first started e-cigs about 6 months ago, I bought a Volcano. Not a smart choice for my smoking habit. I fell right back into analogs. I now have a Riva and feel that this is the right choice for me and hope to never go back to smoking. I really feel for your frustration bc I have been there soooo many times.

I think on Wednesday or Thursday I'll take EVERYTHING to the laundromat, bedding, clothing, pillows, curtains, etc. I've got knotty pine panelling in my apartment, so it's kinda difficult to wash...but I'll probably repaint the ceiling. Thanks again everyone.

Here are my tips for getting the smell out:

1. Put a bowl of distilled white vinegar in every room. Leave it there until it evaps. Vinegar smells nasty, but it will absorb all the smoke odors after one week or when it evaporates.

2. If the smell of vinegar is really getting to you, then you can substitute with baking soda but it doesn't work as well.

Great advice, and makes sense from a physiological stand point as well. The addiction center in our brain is pretty persistant. It wants the sensation of that cigarette and it will continue to want it until it is distracted. Luckily, that piece of the brain isn't terribly bright and you can manipulate it easily with strategies like the one you describe.
