Only a lady that walked by me waving her hand and the vape and giving me the big fake coughs. Thought I was smoking. I just laughed. MY Pv's don't look like any real smokes I have ever seen. :)

Most of the time people are more curious then anything. You might find yourself explaining to a lot of people how it works. Some places are ok with it, some aren't. I find the ones that aren't tend to be more worried about potential complaints from others.

Besides getting yelled at for letting out a HUGE puff of vapour in a Tim Hortons, the closest I came to an altercation per se was when a guy asked me to buy a cigarette and started freaking out calling me a liar when I told him I don't smoke. I made a resolution that next time someone acted that way after asking for a stinky I would simply say "put out your hand" and put two drops in their palm and proceed to walk away.

I never got into a confrontation, but when i was vaping my 808 at the time, drew some attention with the blue led, one guy knew what it was so i told him how wicked they are, then another with his gf kept looking at me, then they came over and the guy was like, did i see what i see a blue light, and i was like yeah its a e-cig he was like cool, im just drinking coffee so i shouldnt have been seeing things.

I've got a lot of curious stares, but not a single person has ever approached me. I've never vaped openly indoors though. I've taken hits in movie theatres and restaurant bathrooms, but that's it. And one time I did it at a pub to show a few friends. EVERYONE looked at me, but not a single person spoke up. I think there's something to be said about Canadians and how they keep to themselves...

I had a waitress try to kick me out for vaping, but I told her I'd stop. Last saturday I vaped away in a crowded bar and did just fine by holding my vapor in longer and trying to be discreet. My biggest scare was when I went into the courthouse and they went through my purse after it went through the scanner. They pretty much looked at me like I was dirty drug dealer when they found my PV but after lots of explaining they let me keep it and enter.

Like Concat I don't openly vape in crowded areas but when someone has spotted me, with a curious stare, I explain the device and system to them. All I've spoken to are impressed and usually know someone either within their family or circle of friends that wants to quit. Before I depart they usually wish me luck. Still haven't seen any other vapers out there though.

Most altercations are caused by the vaper themselves, the majority of folks are just curious. and in need of an explanation. Once received they are cool with it.

Some folks believe it is their God given right to do as they please, any time any place - these folks give us a bad name :) e'g Smokie vaping while pumping gas. Hello

I haven't had an issue yet. Few people asking me questions like "Is that one of those electronic cigarettes?" and "Where can I get one".

Normally if I go to a bar I'll let the waitress know that I'll be vaping and that if she sees "smoke" that's what it is. They've never said no, or told me to go outside.

edit: If I'm in a grocery store. movie theater or something like that, I just don't bother vaping until I'm outside again

110% agreed. I used to vape wherever I was for the first month or so... but after getting told off in Tim Hortons I decided it wasn't worth the hassle, tucked my tail between my legs and just left. Fact is; people think it is smoking so they are offended by seeing people doing it in public places. Unless us vapers want to see anti-vaping legislation mandated, we shouldn't be openly vaping inside.

It goes to prove that you can't bring progress toward the future with the ideals of the "olden days".

You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Just be smart about it. Unless you have been given the okay by someone in charge or the owner just "keep it in your pants". It isn't going to kill you to not vape for 30 minutes while your in a mall.

I've been lucky enough to not have any bad altercations while using mine. Questions yes. Thumbs up yes.
But that being said I usually don't let out huge clouds of vapour unless I am outside or have been given the okay.

I've never had an negative confrontation in any public place I've vaped. I usually ask the server or waitperson/bartender if it's ok to vape. I've also been known to ask any human on either side of me. My only occurrences have all been positive, or people inquiring about what and how to go about getting info and stuff for themselves or somebody they love. Seems everybody knows somebody they wish would quit smoking tobacco. JMHO

Cheers,

Haven't vaped in a restaurant yet without checking with the management first, but I do it in the food court at the mall as well as the main area of the mall. I've had a few dirty looks, but no one has actually said anything to me yet.
We really can't be hiding it anyway. It isn't smoking, and it isn't hurting anyone. On what basis should we be required to obey no smoking laws when they were put in place to protect non smokers?

saw an interesting idea a few weeks ago while surfing youtube. print up a bunch of business sized cards or pamphlet, whatever, titled "This is not a cigarette" in big bold letters and then a small explanation of what it is. Pass them out whenever someone gets snooty with you. Lot easier than arguing with people, just keep a couple in your pocket at all times.
